wiredrider9 said:Man, you are seriously out of your mind—what kind of money are we even talking about right now?

Oh sure, just toss some cash into the furnace, build yourself a DIY sauna, and hope the high heat kills off the virus...

wiredrider9 said:Seriously, how can someone be "irresponsible" if you can carry the virus for two weeks without feeling a single damn thing? How does that even work?

Oh sure, if you've got enough money in the bank, the virus just magically disappears!

You're a real saint, aren't you?

wiredrider9 said:Look, being sick is a joke. Yeah, in America it's a massive joke, but even with a 1% mortality rate, man, the average life expectancy is like 80+
.
What are you even talking about, kid? Your brain is completely fried—did you eat 50 pounds of dry beans or something?

In bigger countries, mortality rates are higher too—it all depends on where you are, the healthcare system, how many hospital beds they actually have, and the population density.

Maybe the older generation would have better immunity if they actually had decent pensions, instead of having to survive on nutritional garbage from clearance aisles—stuff that's basically zero nutrition—while living under constant stress. They wake up in the winter wondering if they're going to eat today or pay to keep the heat on, and that's the reality for a ton of Pensioners. But you won't see politicians giving a damn about that. Now? Suddenly they care. Nope. Their biggest concern is just making sure they don't lose their cushy seats. They couldn't care less about any of us.

wiredrider9 said:Look, you’re killing him with that irresponsibility every time you vote for the Republicans or the Democrats—or even some local sheriff—or if you just skip the elections entirely. When those two parties just keep playing their endless games of destroying the country, they eventually tank everyone's pensions too. If someone is already chronically ill, all this nonsense can actually kill them.

restlesssurfer97 said:So basically, you managed to blame the failures of major institutions on the general public. Do you actually realize how messed up that logic is?
That’s a state-run nursing home under government oversight, overseen by the exact same institutions that are demanding massive sacrifices from every single one of us, and this example just proves they’re doing a sloppy job. And somehow, you manage to pin their incompetence on all of us. Brilliant.🙂

What kind of "federal oversight" are we talking about here? Who actually works in that facility? Irresponsible people, that's who. It wasn't the government that brought the Virus into the home; it was some individual who thought they were invincible, walked right in, and infected the elderly.

wiredrider9 said:1. Who would be out there guarding the China border? I mean, China is basically just one big totalitarian mess anyway.

2. I really don't see the risk of a soldier dropping off food to a pensioner if they’re wearing gloves and everything is disinfected. At the end of the day, you could just run regular tests on everyone in healthcare and the military—you just need the organization to pull it off, I guess.

3. As for the retirement homes, you’d just regulate them so nobody can visit, and make sure the staff gets tested constantly. But honestly, in this country, things usually turn into a circus because the administrators are all just political hacks looking for a paycheck—just look at the mess they've made in San Francisco.

4. Just have people wear gloves and masks, wash their hands... honestly, I wouldn't want any kind of restrictions on radio or anything like that.

5. In the schools, just let the professors teach, provided they’re getting tested regularly.

1. Well, considering China was the only ones who knew anything about the Virus before two months ago, if you had closed the borders back then like you suggested, you would've had the info before anyone else.

2. And who would sell the groceries? Who would pack them or stock the shelves? The military too? Or what?
Military DoorDash? Would soldiers be zipping around on bikes delivering food?

3. Regularly tested? So you show up for your shift, get tested, wait for the results, and *then* start working? Is that your master plan? Because you could be negative today and positive tomorrow.

4. No restrictions, yeah, sounds great.

5. And teachers aren't old? They don't have chronic issues? Should they be tested every single day too? Before every lecture or what?

wiredrider9 said:Man, I seriously don't get you. What's your deal? Like, what is even the point of any of this?

What do you mean "what point"? How about you actually stand by your claim that it's just Gripica 🤷
You're young, you've got no health issues, nothing to fear. Stop just talking trash on the internet and actually show up with some proof... 🤷

If someone told me to go visit a guy with the flu for $167, I’d already be halfway there because I know it wouldn't bother me one bit 🤷

wiredrider9 said:The folks in charge clearly checked their brains at the door months ago—maybe even earlier. Honestly, they should've just shut the borders tight and banned everyone except Americans coming home (and yeah, mandatory quarantine first, obviously). At the same time, nobody living here should be allowed to fly out for some damn ski trips or whatever other nonsense. And we need mandatory isolation for pensioners; let the Volunteers and the Dodo Army deliver food right to their doorstep. If they actually follow the rules, the government could toss out their utility bills for the period they're stuck at home. But if they decide to go rogue? Well, they shouldn't expect any medical help if they get sick—let them deal with it. Everything else can stay open, but we need strict entry controls for big-box retailers and stuff. Cafes and restaurants should have way fewer tables to keep people distanced, and schools or colleges need to keep running, provided they're disinfecting everything every single day.

1. So you’re basically saying you’d want us to move faster than China? Closing the borders before the rest of the world even realized what was happening... Where are the Nobel prizes in all this?

2. And what about the Army and the Volunteers? Don't they have families at home? What if they’re carrying something they don't even know about? You know how it goes—you have a chronic condition and you don't even realize it yet. What if the Volunteers and the Dodo Army bring the Virus straight to the Pensioners?

3. How exactly would you manage nursing homes? Would the Special Police be patrolling them? Would that ATJ Lucko mine-clearing robot be the one delivering groceries?

4. I don't quite get why you'd need border controls and social distancing if the seniors are all stuck at home. What's the actual difference between a 30-year-old at a university and someone in a grocery store or a restaurant?

5. Who's supposed to teach at the schools and colleges then? Mountain Rescue USA?

Elizabeth Mendoza said:Look, we younger people aren't going to mess this up nearly as bad. Honestly, it’s hard to imagine us even being a major factor. But here's the thing: most of us are constantly around older folks—our parents, our grandmas, our grandpas. You might think you're being totally reckless, hanging out with your crew all week, cruising around town, chilling on park benches, grabbing beers, smoking a cigarette here and there... you feel invincible because you're young, right? Wrong. Then the weekend rolls around and you head over to your grandma's place for lunch or visit your folks, and boom. You end up passing something on to your parents or your grandparents. They're older, their immune systems aren't what they used to be, and they're vulnerable. What happens then?

They were probably going to die anyway 🤷

wiredrider9 said:The mortality rate in America is high because most victims are chronic patients or over 80, but the media is straight-up lying to us. Just yesterday, some guy in his middle age died who supposedly had no health issues—except, you know, he was immobile, had hypertension, and was obese, but sure, let's pretend he was perfectly healthy. What a joke. We shouldn't have copied Sweden; we should have done what South Korea did. But hey, you need a government with actual brains for that, not just a bunch of useful idiots who think locking down every living thing is the peak of intelligence. Oh, and don't even get me started on how much this country "cares" about the elderly and vulnerable—they're struggling to survive on pensions that barely keep them fed. But hey, according to certain politicians, a mature adult's life is somehow less important than a baby's. Health above all, right? Except when 30 people die every day from smoking in the US, then suddenly there are no regulations unless they can hike the price to pad the budget. Guess multinational corporations matter more than public health. Are you wearing tin foil on your head or something?🙄 😉

I'm asking you again, you're from San Francisco, right? Are you actually going to stand by what you said, or are you just talking nonsense like usual?

I'll find someone for you in St. tomorrow. You go visit them, bring them some groceries, grab a coffee, and listen to them talk about their experience with the virus. They'll sneeze on you once or twice, and then you can just head home.

Of course, we'll document everything and you'll get $167 from me on top of it all. Seems pretty fair to me, 🤷

Look, I’ll make you an offer. Tell me what city you're in and drop your number; I'll find someone local who needs looking after and happens to be contagious. You just drop off some groceries and chat with them for a bit. Honestly, I'll even pay you out of my own pocket for the trouble.

restlesssurfer97 said:Last week they were all bragging about how low the mortality rate was, and now look—they just opened up a new assisted living facility in Miami. All ten of the positive cases are already on ventilators, and honestly, who knows how many more people are going to test positive soon. This whole thing is unfortunately headed straight for a total disaster.

And that right there is the core of everything I've been saying for weeks, yet Tijs keeps calling me out—maybe he just doesn't get it...

Because think about it: someone working at that facility goes for a quick walk with a friend who doesn't even know they're positive, passes the virus along, that person comes into work and infects 40 seniors, and then five of them die.

Some people will just shrug and say, "They were old and sick anyway, they would have died regardless," but through sheer negligence and that kind of mindset, you might have actually robbed someone of two extra years of life.

I have a buddy whose whole vibe is just like wiredrider9: "It's no big deal, this virus isn't dangerous, it'll wreck the economy if we don't keep everyone working, the Swedish approach is best, or maybe the Belarusian way." Meanwhile, the guy won't leave his house for two weeks and wears gloves just to go to the grocery store.

I know a guy who tested positive, and I offered a friend to go visit him, bring him groceries, hang out for a bit, and all I got was silence. Total nothingness. I honestly don't get it; you catch a little flu, recover at home, and move on with your life... you can do whatever you want after that, so why act like it's such a massive deal?

Everyone was forced to stay indoors for four straight weeks unless they were performing essential services, like healthcare, grabbing groceries, or getting some exercise close to home.

Then you had the critics attacking her pandemic response, while the police were busy clearing people out of public spaces. To top it all off, the Secretary of Health got caught cycling along the beach with his family, and Ardern basically said she’d sign his resignation if it didn't mess with the crisis management.

As if New Zealand is somehow smarter than us... I mean, seriously? They're kicking people off public streets, yet you aren't even allowed to go for a bike ride with your family.

You should actually read up and see who is doing what, instead of just parroting the nonsense from American news sites. But hey, I guess it's easier to just float through life with half a brain.

Comparing America to Sweden and Germany?
Alright, enough arguing. You win. ☕

And just to touch on it—the government is basically sitting around waiting for this virus to just vanish, but what if it doesn't? Does any single country actually have a real plan in place? Everyone seems to be banking on it being seasonal, hoping it’ll just die out or that we'll suddenly stumble upon some magic way to suppress it.

Given that we don't have the infrastructure or the budget to go hunting for vaccines and treatments, we're pretty much playing second fiddle here. So yeah, waiting is the standard move.
And let's be real: if this thing sticks around, it won't just wreck the American economy—it'll tank the entire global market, leaving people hungry and desperate.

Meanwhile, you keep preaching about human stupidity just because people don't see things through your specific lens, yet you haven't once offered a single actual solution of your own to fix the mess...

Just please, spare me the "I'd just let everything run normally and let herd immunity handle it" routine. Seriously, give me an actual proposal or tell me how you'd realistically manage this nightmare.

Anthony Jackson2 said:So what exactly is the plan here—everyone just hides in their holes like bugs and waits for their own bacteria to finish them off? We’re living in a country that doesn't have a single long-term strategy beyond next month, banking entirely on the hope that this thing just vanishes into thin air...

Seriously, you tell me: what does the government actually do if this isn't just some seasonal thing that disappears by mid-February? How do they plan to fund 15 million people for an entire year?

Honestly, I’m going to start deleting these kinds of brainless posts on Reddit—I know human stupidity is infinite, but my patience for dealing with it definitely isn't.

Well, why don't you enlighten me with your brilliant idea? What would you personally do?

The only "mantra" I hear is people whining, "Oh, but shouldn't we all be hanging out?"
Look, I'm totally fine with it—go ahead, hang out. But once you infect yourselves and your families, you can be at the very back of the line for ventilators. Sure, if you want to act like a tough guy and grab drinks with the crew outside, then be a tough guy until the end and admit, "Yeah, I was an idiot," when you and everyone close to you ends up on a ventilator.

Well, this whole thing is just 🤣

So, Vincent doesn't have Corona—we’ve known each other for ages. This lady had her grandkids over because it was Grandpa's birthday, which is the biggest thing ever. Honestly, I've changed my mind; instead of banning everything, we should just issue guidelines on what people should and shouldn't be doing...

If it turns out those seniors voluntarily hung out with infected people (even if they were showing symptoms), we should just deny them medical care, treat it as an attempted suicide, and mandate psychiatric treatment.

And for all the young folks, if they keep partying and it turns out they were in contact with more than ten people during isolation, let's treat that as intentional spreading of the virus and attempted murder.

Anyway, see ya. People are animals; they don't care about themselves, let alone the vulnerable. Then, once they get hit, they start whining to everyone for help.

wiredrider9 said:And another thing—these Crisis Headquarters love to talk a big game about "public health," but honestly, what are they saying about the health of the thousand people who drop every single day from those shots? What’s going to happen to everyone else? People are going to pack on the pounds like pigs during this lockdown just because they're bored out of their minds eating everything in sight. And don't even get me started on how many people are going to spiral into depression and all that other mental health crap. Where's the "health" in that? We’re already one of the most overweight and physically lazy nations in the EU.

I'm just sitting here waiting for some expert advice and instructions from Beroš and Markotic once I finally get a break from work. Should I just head into the woods and go full Rambo during this isolation?

Aren't you satisfied with people making fun of you in the corner? 🤦

I guess I'm just quoting this so it stays on the record. So, according to you, people are going to overeat because of isolation—whose fault is that exactly? Is it because people are idiots who choose to binge? You can actually stay healthy while in isolation, or even in prison, you know?

Layoffs, layoffs, oh my god, layoffs. Since six months ago, we've been seeing an average of 6,000 to 7,000 more unemployed people every month; now it might hit 20,000. It's not like 500,000 people are suddenly going to show up at unemployment offices when there are only 40,000 more cases in two months.

Honestly, I feel like I'm answering you, but I don't see the point of your post at all. It's probably just a "Ugh, why aren't we like Swedenaaaa" type of thing.

Paul Sanders5 said:Man, honestly? Just leave them alone about the donations. Seriously. Every time I see people calling out athletes online to pitch in, I just think—hey, why don't *you* donate? Based on their monthly salaries, they’re already paying enough in taxes to cover what most of us here struggle to pay in several years combined. But sure, because they have the money, they should just hand it over too. What a joke.

Soccer players are basically just businessmen, so they don't really have "salaries" in the traditional sense.
And honestly, I actually agree that they should donate. The longer this situation drags on, the more money they'll lose anyway. Plus, there's some basic logic here: if you have more than you need, you share it when things get rough.

Besides, it's called a donation for a reason—it's supposed to be voluntary. If you're forced to give, it isn't a donation. We already pay our fair share through taxes and all sorts of fees, so there shouldn't even be a concept of "donations" for anything else.

Don't get worked up, ruggedjackal46, we all know you're a good person deep down... ☕
