"Owners should commit to giving up 50 percent of their profits, then splitting that other 50 percent among the most deserving employees who help pull the company through a crisis. In return, the government should grant those firms total tax exemptions. Management should also waive their salaries—it’s all about building mutual trust," he claimed.

🤣

What kind of fantasy world are these people living in? So, owners just hand over half their profit to some "star employees," while management conveniently gets to skip their paychecks... 🤣
Wait, did he actually give up his own salary?

I guess Perry on the assembly line at Podravac is the real hero behind the company's massive export numbers and overall success... ☕

Amanda Evans2 said:It isn’t exactly "obvious" when an article uses its headline and overall tone to try and settle a score using specific mortality rates. Both the title and those graphics showing spikes in one particular city are clearly designed to drive home that exact point.
We can all agree that the most amateurish part of this whole piece is how people are trying to draw massive, sweeping conclusions from such limited data.
But for someone just scrolling through the news—which is what most people on these sites do—this looks like a total catastrophe.
In reality, every single media outlet has been acting like the world is ending over the last month; honestly, they are a primary reason why everyone is so unnecessarily terrified.

Be careful, wash your hands, and keep your distance. But at the same time, don't lose your mind, don't go out and hoard toilet paper and flour, and stop obsessing over every little thing.
I wonder why Rudan and Djikic aren't out there spreading panic like Capak and Bozinovic.
The panic is always manufactured by those who stand to gain from it.
The media and the politicians.

I wouldn't say this isn't fear-mongering. It seems like he's just repeating everything everyone else is saying—quarantines, "more dangerous than the flu," and so on.

America is entering the most critical phase of the fight against COVID-19, and citizen participation is vital. Following discussions with the Secretary of Health, Professor William Beroš, I am issuing this statement to the American public to highlight the expert facts necessary to overcome this pandemic as quickly as possible.

Then again, no generation is completely safe from this disease; in certain cases, young people die too, especially those with underlying conditions.

Besides, he fully supports the Crisis Headquarters; everything I've read from him suggests they are doing an excellent job, which he emphasizes here 🤷

FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF THE CRISIS HEADQUARTERS – it is of the utmost importance that we all: avoid contact, stay home, spread accurate information, and protect the sick and the elderly.

ACT TOGETHER – members of the Crisis Headquarters, healthcare workers, and all citizens – only together will we succeed.

That is why isolation and quarantine are our only way to fight back, and we must implement them. We cannot afford to play games with viruses because they are dangerous due to their unpredictability and various ways of spreading.

Amanda Evans2 said:I’ve been reading up on this, and you know exactly why it’s flat-out bad rather than just mediocre.
The problem is that they’re cherry-picking spikes where mortality rates peaked and trying to paint a broad, sweeping picture based on isolated incidents. It’s fundamentally flawed logic.
There is a much more relevant study regarding mortality rates conducted in China using completed cases, which was actually presented right here about ten pages ago...

Studies coming out of China regarding this virus can't be considered relevant for any reason. Either they were covering things up at the start, or their regime simply won't allow them to look worse than they are. We'll never truly know their actual numbers, nor will we ever know exactly where the virus originated since they've gone to great lengths to debunk the market theory entirely. They just don't want this virus associated with them. I think we've already covered this ground.

What’s actually interesting about the article is how neither the exact death toll for the flu nor for this virus will ever be known. Instead, they just take excess mortality figures and throw them all into the same bucket. For this one, they'll likely take last year's flu mortality rate, compare it to this year's deaths, and call it a day.

We'll see where we actually stand on mortality in the end. The article isn't bad—it actually provides quite a bit of info on methodology and what data is being used—you're just getting hung up on the most trivial detail...

Why bother following the rules—or even adjusting them—when you can just work under the table? 👋 🤦

Typical government move. 🙏

I already touched on this back when Joe Rezac called for everyone to stop hiring private contractors and stick exclusively to GSK for all reconstruction efforts. In Washington, D.C., there are maybe 30 firms licensed to handle old building renovations anyway. Now they want to tear it all down and adapt it. Joe's buddies are going to make a massive fortune off this... No bidding, no oversight, just direct deals handed out to tenant reps. It's absolute madness.

Sam Thomas3 said:Collective punishment, selective enforcement, making up laws on the fly, restricting freedom of movement, and treating speech like a crime—it’s all become their standard playbook lately, hasn't it? And honestly, it seems like hardly anyone even cares anymore. But then again, should we really have expected anything different?

Though, I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised on that front! If any of that stuff actually happens, it usually ends up being just isolated incidents. Especially when you consider the kind of wannabe ss-ovacs running around the police wing of FEMA issuing orders.

Welcome to the real world.
All this was happening to one specific group—the fans. While they were being treated like animals, getting slapped with fines and criminal charges based on mere comments, having their homes raided, their jobs targeted, and living under constant terror, the crowd was cheering them on, shouting "beat the hooligans." When they pushed through those speech laws, or when they sang songs about war profiteers, the masses were rooting for the police. Now, you can all eat what you cooked.

(I'm not aiming this directly at you, but I'm pretty sure those two journalists back then were just nodding along and approving everything.)

restlesssurfer97 said:A top Chinese expert just weighed in on where he thinks the US and Europe are totally missing the mark regarding the virus

In my view, the massive blunder being made in the US and Europe is that people just aren't wearing masks, and honestly, that's the core issue because this virus spreads through droplets and close contact. Those droplets are everything—you have to wear a mask because every time you open your mouth to speak, those droplets are flying out. Plus, you've got so many people carrying asymptomatic or even presymptomatic infections without even knowing it. If everyone just wore a face mask, it would stop those virus-laden droplets from escaping and infecting everyone else.

And there's more to it too:

Social distancing is basically the bedrock strategy for controlling any infectious disease, especially when we're talking about respiratory infections. Initially, we had to rely on non-pharmaceutical strategies since we didn't have specific inhibitors, medications, or vaccines ready to go. Second, you absolutely have to make sure you isolate every single case. Third, all close contacts need to be quarantined; we spend an incredible amount of time trying to track down every contact and making sure they stay isolated and in quarantine. Fourth, you've got to shut down public gatherings. Fifth, you need to limit movement.

So, we basically jumped straight to step five and completely ignored steps two and three, which is wild if you think about it.🙏🙏🙏

First off, everyone should just wear a mask; you'd need a mountain of them since you'd be wearing them all day, and besides, there aren't even enough to go around for the people who actually need them.

Second, of course a Chinese official would say that when their export prices have jumped tenfold because every country on earth went crazy trying to stock up. It’s perfect timing—have the Chinese tell us, "Oh, don't bother buying those." Even though 90% of virologists and experts have already pointed out they don't help!

Every single day there's a new expert with a new statement that people love to weaponize in arguments, and you're still proudly quoting them... look at this:

Dr Chris Smith, a consulting virologist at Harvard University, told RNZ that people shouldn't waste their money on them.

"Go ahead and spend it on something actually useful that you enjoy, like grabbing a beer. Those face masks are total garbage and they don't do a thing."

"Those face masks are absolute rubbish and they do nothing" - consultant virologist Dr Chris Smith

Dr David Carrington, from St George's, University of California, told CNN that "standard surgical masks for the general public don't provide effective protection against viruses or bacteria traveling through the air," which is how "most viruses" spread, given they fit too loosely, lack air filtration, and leave the eyes unprotected.

Dr Jak Dunning, the head of emerging infections and zoonoses at the CDC, stated: "While there's a perception that wearing face masks might help, there is actually very little evidence of any broad benefit from using them outside of clinical settings."

Steven van Gucht, who leads the scientific committee for the new coronavirus (Covid-19), remarked that it made “little sense” for healthy individuals to use masks as a preventative measure.

“Wearing a mask is only effective for patients who have already been infected with the coronavirus, as well as for medical staff,” van Gucht noted. “These masks are actually meant to protect those around a [Covid-19] patient from germs spread through coughing, sneezing, or talking,” he added.

So, our dear Mayor basically says nothing gets renovated without GSK's blessing—heaven forbid we actually hire private contractors for repairs.

It’s an open secret that every company gets their shot at a contract through GSK ☕
And Gamad will stop at nothing to squeeze out their cut and make sure their own firm lands all the repair jobs...

Apparently, it's much better to work for GSK than someone who isn't on their approved list. And getting onto that list is easy enough if you just grease a few palms to get the inside scoop.

urbanhawk17 said:Look, I guess you have to ask yourself who’s actually being more reckless here. Is it the old man, or is it ESPN—assuming they're the ones who just showed up and took a seat on the bench? Maybe it's both, I don't know.

I’d say the ESPN guy, since he's younger, sharper, and more responsible—I actually expect him to grasp the fallout from what he does.

What am I supposed to explain to a 70-year-old? If you have grandparents still around, you already know how stubborn they can be... that old-age obstinacy is real. That's why we, the younger and smarter generation, have to act a bit more responsibly and look out for them.

Honestly, I think people would have way more empathy if this disease could jump from humans to dogs. People would keep their pups inside, avoid all contact, wear NASA spacesuits just to go home, and weep when their pets passed away. But as it stands, it’s just some old folks, so who cares...

Hope you get my point...

Amanda Evans2 said:Who on earth is actually talking about violating isolation or spreading the virus here?
The way people are equating someone just walking down the street—someone who isn't under any restrictions at all—with an infected person causing panic and being unnecessarily obnoxious is ridiculous.
We aren't under a full lockdown; the freedom to move around your own city is still perfectly legal as long as you haven't been ordered into self-isolation.
It honestly irritates me every single time someone tries to question something so fundamental.
It's just so much
...

You can spread the virus even if you don't have symptoms, totally without realizing it.
For example, you go for a stroll, sit on a park bench, touch the wood with your hands, and then an elderly man walks by later, sits on that same bench, touches it, picks up the virus, and dies.

Besides, I’ve said it several times already: there is no ban on walking or sports. You can go out for a run or take the dog for a walk. Nobody is stopping you from doing almost anything—going to the grocery store, hitting the pharmacy... You can enjoy the outdoors, maybe even take your wife along.

The only thing being asked is for people to act responsibly. If you're out with the dog, keep him on a leash, stay away from crowds, maintain distance, and try not to touch public surfaces. It’s really that simple; nobody is demanding you be locked in your house 24/7 without seeing sunlight.

But you contrarians have convinced yourselves that people are actually demanding that, so you've started stirring up panic. You could even host a BBQ in your own backyard with the family—maybe some ribs or a roast. The only catch is keeping it to the family so twenty neighbors don't show up. Or you can grab the kid and play ball in the yard; as long as the field doesn't suddenly get swarmed by 200 other people, nobody is going to bother you. Just throw on some disposable gloves just in case, and you're good to go.

Of course, there are plenty of idiot cops, just like everywhere else and in all times, who will try to flex their authority. But you just explain it to them nicely, or call them what they are right to their face: a bunch of amateur civilian security.

If you’re testing positive, there’s a pretty good chance your wife is too, which means she'll definitely be positive as well. If you both test positive, there’s really no reason for everyone to be stuck in their own little bubble. You can just quarantine together, get it? Otherwise, every single one of those positive patients in the hospitals would be stuck in their own private rooms...

I live with my wife in an apartment. How are we supposed to socially distance?

We don't own any other property, so there's nowhere else to run. It's just this apartment, and that's it.

I guess it's probably the same situation for 90% of Americans.

God knows how we're going to manage.
