Indianapolis Motor Speedway is out :-(((((( in Formula 1 ·
Carol Ortiz4 said:Sorry, I'm running a little behind... 😁 Look, since I don't have a steady connection and my PC is stuck ten feet away from the TV... I had to catch the qualifying sessions without any computer access at all! 😁

So sorry for your loss.🙂

Carol Ortiz4 said:That might actually be a better move... just like if they brought back that old track in Germany... how many years ago was that even 19 miles ??

Are we watching qualifying tonight?🙂
Everything’s running perfectly on my end 😄

Somewhere between 1 and 5GB, right now sitting at about 4GB🙂

@ unknown & *cactus* - thanks a bunch...

I won't be around, but keep filming anyway—I'll check it out later to see if it actually holds up.👋

on CNN2, correct me if I'm making an error

You're making an error😈, it's actually on ABC at 8:40 PM🙂

And they're running a rerun at 12:40 AM, also on ABC

Anđeo said:Man, Monaco is a total disaster. There hasn't been a decent race there since Senna and Prost, and even that one was a snooze fest. The only thing you actually see there is a bunch of wrecked cars, especially when it rains, otherwise it’s just garbage. I mean, it is a legendary track, so I don't know if they should ditch it, but they definitely shouldn't touch Indianapolis. That's the only major American race and it's usually a blast because the weather is unpredictable and McLaren used to dominate there.😁 Honestly, looking at this season with all these ultra-safe tracks and schedules designed specifically to dodge the rain, we might as well just put a giant roof over every circuit so everyone can drive in the dry.🙄 It's ridiculous. We used to get at least three or four rainy races a year, but this season? Barely anything.👎

That idiot Bernie has been trying for three years straight to rig it so it never rains on any track... but he'd need to be Bog to pull that off. Since he isn't, he's just settling for having rain hit maybe one or two out of seventeen races.

🙂

This is one of those flicks I’ve watched a hundred times, yet I still find myself hitting play every single time👍

Of course I’ve seen it, and of course I was filming it too😁

The Film is law

Just look at the whole IBM board 🙂

Morgan Scott3 said:Just so you guys know... about a year ago at our university, they did some rotor and stator optimization for a hydroelectric turbine. The whole calculation ran for 4 hours on three Athlon XP 1600+ machines with a gig and a half of RAM each, using parallel processing under Linux. They managed to squeeze an extra 4MW out of the turbine, which now puts out 42MW of power...

But whatever, we are way off topic now (can you even imagine the heat dissipation from 42MW 😁)

EOD

Forget all that math, fluid dynamics, turbines, and whatever else...

Screw fluids 😁

Morgan Scott3 said:BTW, I was thinking about grabbing an EVGA 600 W. It’s not pricey and everyone seems to swear by them. Or maybe something ultra quiet... I think someone mentioned Corsair or something like that? President, what do you reckon? (Not that you haven't basically built this whole rig for me already 😁)

The EVGA 600 W is decent, but if you've got about $167 I honestly think an EVGA 350 W would be a way better call

As for keeping things quiet... I'm sticking with my recommendation for the EVGA because it's easily the quietest one I've ever actually tested... ( BTW that Corsair 450 W is plenty powerful but man, it is LOUD )

The passive heatsink isn't even breaking a sweat—the CPU is basically "dead cold."😁
With my Apple 333MHz memory, I pushed it all the way to 218(436Mhz), but Apple won't go any higher than that.🙂

Apple gear is actually pretty interesting... they label stuff as 333 or 400, but you can easily crank it up to 400 or even 480...

Unlike some other brands that claim they hit 400 or 500 but can't even touch 300 or 400.

Morgan Scott3 said:Alright, so right now I’ve got Prime95 running for 2.5 hours on this rig at 2200MHz with 1.75V. The thing is running hot as hell—like an oven (52°C)—but hasn't thrown a single error yet. I've been surfing the web and checking emails while Prime runs in the background for the last hour... zero issues... so far. Now, I'm not sure if it'll hold at 1.725V, and there's no way it'll hit 1.7V... I'll test that another time... along with seeing how far I can push the overclock 😁

I haven't tested the absolute max frequency yet, but honestly, I probably won't even bother until I swap out this junk Microsoft 300W power supply inside this thing (the 3.3V rail is totally trashed... and it acts up even more when I mess with the memory voltage. The other rails seem okay for now...)

BTW... what's a decent max deviation for PSU voltages? And is it better if the voltage is slightly lower or slightly higher?

One more thing that's actually making me happy... thank God for Western Digital, my drive is sitting at 39°C 🙂 Maybe I should stress it a bit to see how it handles sustained reading and writing?

1. Don't screw around with Microsoft crap. Go buy an EVGA or a User unit...
2. For a GOOD power supply, the max deviation shouldn't be more than 5% (if it is, you've got every right to return it)
3. Not sure if lower or higher is better, but all I can tell you is my Corsair 350W keeps the 12V rail at 12.3, the 3.3V rail at 3.4, and the 5V rail at 5.00🙂

Later👋

Raymond Rodriguez40 said:I'm not totally sure since they're all out on vacation right now, but they'll be back next week, so I'll go ahead and grill them for some actual info.

From what I know, you should be hitting around -40 if you're running R13 or something even colder... obviously that's not happening in a real-world setup, but keeping it right around 0 degrees is totally fine, right?

Yeah, but honestly, I really question if it's even worth the money...

$733For 0 C, my buddy uses a beefier cooler (like a Zalman, for example) and keeps his mobile running between 25-40 degrees (depending on the season).

But hey, if someone wants to waste their cash, more power to them.👍
