Anthony Cruz12 said:I took two yesterday—though my stomach has been acting up ever since, feeling all crampy, almost like I’m about to start my period... then I went to the bathroom and noticed a tiny bit of spotting, but nothing else after that.
But today, starting this morning, my abdomen just feels like I have😕

If I finish this entire pack, this Friday would be my last pill. Then I take a seven-day break, and on the eighth day, I start a new pack of 21, right? Is my protection compromised now because I missed one—and if so, how long am I actually at risk?🤷

I don't think the stomach pain is because you took two pills. That used to happen to me too, and everything was always fine. My period would just come as usual, maybe a day early. Look, I can't tell you 100% regarding the protection level because it depends on which week you missed the pill. If it was during the first week, protection might be slightly lowered. If it was during the second week, protection should stay the same.
And yes, a 7-day break, then you resume normally with the next pack on the 8th day.

I'm pretty young and there are some things I'm curious about...
I need to go for a checkup to see if I have hormone issues. In that case, will I have to take birth control pills?
I have a few friends who gained a massive amount of weight while taking those pills—they looked completely different..
Is that always the case? Summer is coming, and I don't want to gain weight; actually, I need to lose about 10-15 pounds.
🙂
And one more thing, what does a hormone checkup look like??

It’s not the pills that make you gain weight; it’s the increased appetite. It’s possible your appetite will spike, causing you to eat more, which leads to weight gain—but the pills themselves aren't the direct cause.

A hormone checkup usually involves blood work (like liver function tests) and potentially a coagulation test (to check blood clotting).
Anthony Cruz12 said:I’ve been taking Yasmin quite consistently for a long while now—about three years, actually.
It was just today that I realized I’d missed a pill. To be honest, I only noticed because I went to check my supply to see how many tablets I had left until the end of the pack—since I know I always run out by Friday—and, surprise, surprise, there’s still one extra pill left over for Saturday.😕
And the best part? I have absolutely no memory of when I actually missed it... which is just wonderful!
So, what’s the move here?
Normally, I take them right at 10:00 PM; I even have an alarm set on my phone every single night just to make sure I don't forget.

p.s. I’m not exactly worried about pregnancy, since my partner has been away on a trip for three weeks already.😉

I'm just wondering how to proceed with the pack now. Since I can't even pinpoint which day I skipped the dose...🙄 should I just take two pills tonight all at once, or...?
And what about the next pack? Do I just carry on as if I’d taken them all perfectly, or is there a different way to handle it?😁

Either take two pills today, or shorten your break from 7 days down to 6. Then, start your next pack normally with the standard 21 + 7 schedule.

It won't happen, will it? 😠

I have no idea. But hey, I'll find out soon enough. 🙂
Thanks anyway. 😉

Yeah, I don't have anyone else to turn to.

What kind of pills are you taking? It might be related to that. 🤷

There’s absolutely nothing here. It hasn't ever shown anything for me, and my understanding was that the rule had always been a full year. However, I'm asking because just a few months ago, I read right here on the forum that the new policy changed it to six months. 🤷

Well? 😁
My six-month window is closing fast, so I’d really like to know if my prescription access is about to be cut off or if I'm set for the next half year.

It would only be an issue if you missed a dose right in the middle of the pack; otherwise, you’re totally fine. I switched from Yaz back to Yasmin once, and even when I accidentally skipped a pill at the end of the month, I never ran into any trouble at all.😉

You don't have to worry about it; nothing bad is going to happen because, globally speaking, you’ll just end up finishing your course a day early by skipping one. You'll simply start the next pack a day sooner. If you're really feeling anxious, you could just take three white pills instead of four, which would allow you to kick off the new pink batch even earlier. See what I mean?

Thomas Collins60 said:All good—being up by 1.3 isn't really anything to sweat if it's over the limit 😬
I’m eating relatively well these days—definitely healthier than I was ten years ago—but back then I was only 15, so maybe some of this is just aging and stress catching up to me 🤷
I'm actually trying out some herbal supplements now to get those numbers down

Basically, here’s the deal... when my mom was in college, that threshold used to be higher, but they lowered it recently for reasons unknown. Honestly, several doctors have hinted to me that it's a bit of a "pharmaceutical tactic," especially for women. It feels like they lower the bar just to sell you cholesterol medication, which can end up wrecking your liver—not to mention the pills themselves can take a toll on your liver, so...
I honestly don't know what the connection is anymore. About two years ago, I was living the ultimate healthy lifestyle—no drinking, no smoking, working out constantly, blah blah blah—and my cholesterol was still sitting right around 6.🤷

Nathan Baker said:Question: On the American market, besides Yaz, are there any other 28-day birth control pills available?

Yaz isn't actually a 28-day pack; it's 24 active days plus 4 placebo days. If you want a true 28-day cycle where you take hormones every single day without a break, Qlaira is the one.
Thomas Collins60 said:What does "slightly elevated" actually mean? My lab results show the limit is 5, but mine came back at around 6.3—if I’m remembering correctly.
I don't think it was high when I was at Yasmin Hospital—I can't quite recall if it was my first time seeing an elevation (maybe around 5.2) while I was still at Yasmin or if I had already moved over to Logest? But I'm pretty sure I was already at Logest by then. Is it actually possible for one type of bacteria to bump it up while another one doesn't?

Look, 6.3 isn't exactly cause for panic just yet. Regarding the birth control, since different brands affect the body in various ways, it’s entirely possible they impact cholesterol levels differently. Also, have you perhaps changed up your diet since switching over to Logest?
It’s entirely possible for your cholesterol levels to spike slightly; however, despite all the pharmaceutical gimmicks out there, a marginally elevated cholesterol reading in women is actually harmless.

Well, I am truly glad to hear that. You are more than welcome, and don't hesitate to reach out again next time. 😉

Aha. In any case, if everything continues to feel normal, I really don't think you need to worry. Honestly, it’s happened to me several times—I panicked at first too, only to realize it’s just an initial hiccup before things settle back to baseline.

I wonder if you might be on any kind of medication? I’ve personally noticed this happening a few times since I started taking my pills, though it was never an issue before that.

Mine can be just as unpredictable sometimes when I first get her.
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Aha, so you had one less? In that case, sure—start drinking a day earlier than you originally planned. Instead of Tuesday, aim for Monday. You mean today? 🙂
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Don't you worry about a thing. Since you got started early, you'll probably receive every subsequent box two days ahead of schedule, meaning you'll be starting your weekly routine on Tuesday instead of Thursday. You're perfectly covered, so there's absolutely no cause for panic. 😉
It would only be an issue if you had started two days late; since you actually started two days early, you really have nothing to worry about.
Man, it’s been a lot lately. Honestly, I wouldn’t call myself a crybaby—at least, I never was. But now? It feels like I’m constantly on the verge of breaking down over the smallest things, though I'm trying my best to hold it together. I’m just hoping that getting back into Yasmin will help clear my head; it’s really my only shot.
