Proposed bill on IVF regulations in Women's Health ·
It’s absolutely appalling and discriminatory through and through. Personally, I’m an atheist, and frankly, I couldn't care less that I live in a predominantly Catholic country. 🙄 Their constant tendency to meddle in everything really gets under my skin. And on top of that, they act as if IVF is some wonderful, painless miracle where everyone—especially women struggling with infertility—is just overjoyed to have to resort to it. 😠

Hey everyone, just wanted to share that I’ve been nursing Yasmin for two years now, but I finally had to make the tough call to stop because her mood swings became way too intense to manage.
It’s been a full year since I last touched anything, and I’m thinking about getting back into it. However, I definitely don't want to go back to Yasmin—I'm looking for something different. Ideally, I'd love something that might actually help with a little extra boost in the bust area. Any suggestions?
Is it already the fourth quarter of the fiscal year? Does that mean I need to start digging into the actual data right now? Because honestly, I’m looking to hit the ground running this week.

How many times do we have to repeat that these pills are an individual matter? They don't react the same way in everyone. Just because someone else saw breast growth from something like Estrogen, for example, doesn't mean you will. Period. Only your gynecologist can tell you which ones are right for your body—that’s the end of the story. No need for all this heavy philosophy. For all you know, your breasts might not grow at all from any of them. And hey, if you really need a boost, I can always help you out. 🙂

Basically, I still have that prescription from my OB-GYN for birth control pills (Cileste). I was taking them for a while, but I haven't touched them for about two months now.
So, here's the thing: I just realized that during the only three days this summer when I’ll actually have some alone time with my partner, I’m supposed to be on my period. That’s happening in about 15 days—right in the middle of my cycle. Can I start taking the pills now? I really want to push my period back, even just a little, to get that effect from the medication...
What do you all think?
I know playing around with hormones isn't exactly something you should... mess with, but these three days of privacy and solitude are everything to me this summer, so...

You can't exactly postpone a cycle once it's mid-swing; your only real move is to get a quick consultation from a specialist like Dr. Dabroston.

I'm heading to the beach in two weeks and I'll be starting my period right when I arrive. Since I'm only staying for a week, I really want to delay it.
So... does anyone know how I can make that happen? Thanks! 🙂

Are you on birth control? Because if you aren't, trying to delay it with "natural" methods is going to be nearly impossible.

Peter Murphy8 said:I have a question about tampons... but I honestly don't know which thread this belongs in. Basically, I've never used tampons before, but I have to use one tomorrow because of the pool. How often should I be changing it since I'll be in the water all day? please help

Well, it depends on how heavy your flow is, but since you'll be swimming, I would actually recommend changing it every single time you get out of the water. I realize it’s a hassle, but it’s the smartest way to go.

Kate Brown33 said:Hey girls,

I'm in my twenties and my cycle is usually very regular. I mostly just get cramps during the first few hours, and then everything settles down. My flow is typically heavier for the first two or three days and then tapers off. Overall, nothing has felt unusual or weird.

However, over the last couple of months, my bleeding has been much lighter. My cycle is still regular—meaning the timing hasn't changed—but here's the thing... I started yesterday evening with minimal cramping and nausea, but the bleeding is extremely light. Today, my first day feels like what my fourth day used to feel like. 😕

Thoughts?

I've been experiencing the same thing lately, but it isn't anything to worry about unless you suspect you might be pregnant.

Absolutely disgusting. That law is nothing short of revolting. And honestly, the worst part of this whole mess? Our "wonderful" Secretary of Health happens to be an OB-GYN. You can't make this stuff up. 🙄

What kind of drastic skin transformations are you expecting after just a few days? 😕

Aaron Garcia36 said:It’s not that I don’t trust what you women say, but when I read certain things that would be an absolute "no way" back home, they seem perfectly acceptable here in the States.

I’m moving to Seattle in a week, and I’ve spent so much time reading through threads about gynecologists in the Pacific Northwest that the more I read, the more confused I get. I’m still waiting for someone to actually reply to my question in the 'Gynecologists' thread.
People might think I’m being dense, but there is a massive difference in how gynecological care, medications, and general advice are handled here compared to where I grew up. Having lived abroad for 16 years, I’ve basically had to relearn how people think and give advice.🤷

I think you really ought to stop stressing yourself out so much. As my handle suggests, I’m originally from San Diego, and I have an absolutely fantastic gynecologist there—I've never had even the slightest issue with her. Plus, when it comes to my overall health, I’m hitting a perfect five out of five. So... maybe just try dialing back the paranoia a bit to start with? 😉

I’ve taken them on numerous occasions, always under the impression that I was protected from day one, but predictably, I haven't conceived once.

Keep asking them normally tomorrow. You’ll finish up the questions one day early, take a standard seven-day break, and you're all set. The only difference is that your break won't wrap up on a Sunday, but on a Saturday instead. Does that make sense?

Have another one and you won't even need extra protection; you'll just end up taking 20 this month instead of 21, based on the calendar. And you still have to stick to that usual 7-day break.

Don't sweat the small stuff. You can take your pill within a roughly 4-hour window of your usual schedule, so you’ll be perfectly fine taking it tomorrow around 10 PM and just keeping that rhythm going. It'll all work out. Personally, my timing isn't set in stone either; I just make sure to take mine before hitting the hay. Some nights it's 11 PM, some nights it's 4 AM, and most often it's around 1 AM. Everything stays on track regardless. 😉

Taylor Smith3 said:Hey everyone...

I'm currently on Yasmin 5 months. My period is supposed to start this coming Friday, but my sister is getting married on Saturday, and since the second day is always the absolute worst for me, I’d really love to push my period back by about three days. Is that even possible? I've read that people usually shift it by an entire week, but delaying it just a few days would actually work better for me because it would also shift my cycle dates moving forward.

The other thing is, a friend of mine who did this—and she actually consulted her OBGYN, since I can't get hold of mine right now (I think they're on vacation)—told me I should just take a whole extra pack. How much more harmful is that compared to just delaying it for a couple of days, and does it reduce the effectiveness of the birth control at all? Thanks so much in advance.

P.S. I know everyone reacts differently, but has anyone experienced any side effects?

You can certainly take a full extra pack immediately after finishing your current one, which ensures your protection remains just as effective. However, you should be aware that there is a possibility of breakthrough bleeding while you're taking the pills from that second pack; that's essentially the main side effect to watch out for.

Look, man, just don't kick anything until you reach the bottom of the box. And honestly, there was no need to start an entire separate thread just for this. 😉

Sorry for the delay in getting these photos up! I had to run to the vet, and since things have been pretty hectic in town lately, it took longer than expected. But, here I am.

First, let's look at today's edition of the New York Times just to verify everything:

I tried taking another photo with the paper today, but I couldn't quite get it right—it came out a bit blurry:

So, for better clarity, I’m attaching a shot from Saturday instead...

...and some shots of the girls 🙂 (for Med):

P.S. Tyler Ross86, please refrain from commenting on my photos. Look, I'm a woman with curves and great legs, so your opinions don't interest me one bit. Thanks!

It’s perfectly normal. I’ve been taking them for a few years now, so I’ve learned they don't always arrive right on schedule—sometimes they show up a day early or a day late.

I’m honestly at a bit of a loss for words, almost like I’ve just dropped in from another planet or something. I’ve been trying to read up on some of the issues you all have been posting about, but I can never quite seem to catch up... It feels like I might be the exact opposite case, I guess. I’ve experimented with a few different brands—I think it was maybe Loestrin, maybe Alesse, or maybe Yaz, and a couple of others whose names escape me right now, and now I’m just sitting here waiting to start the Yasmin pack. I don't really know if I should even bother starting, because my main issue is that I seem to get my period at least five days before I even finish the pill. I take them strictly according to what my gynecologist prescribed, too. I actually saw her about two weeks ago, and after an exam and an ultrasound, she told me everything seemed perfectly fine with me and my hormone levels, so she suggested I try a different brand instead. I'm just not sure, though; I wonder if she should probably send me for some blood work or something?
I truly haven't a clue what the underlying issue could be. Has anyone else dealt with anything similar?

Wait, so you haven't even had blood work done yet regarding the pills?
Okay, that is honestly so weird. I thought maybe you were hitting the gym hard and just gained some muscle mass, making you weigh more. But if your clothes are fitting differently and you definitely aren't working out, then that’s not it either. Anyway, I'm staying slim today!👍
Do you work out? And if so, have you noticed the weight change in how your clothes fit, or just on the scale?
