It’s like nobody ever mentions the actual good stuff—the joy, the magic, any of it. Instead, it's just a non-stop lecture about how we won't sleep, how we'll lose our social lives, or how our sex life is basically going to be dead in the water... I mean, look, 🙂 obviously things aren't going to stay exactly the same as they were before, but I'm actually genuinely stoked for this whole parenting thing and can't wait for the big day to finally get here.
Exactly. And it’s especially grating now that I’ve finally found some peace of mind, only to have certain people try to spook me with their grim tales and tragic endings, or all those pregnancy complications...🙂
You can't seem to hear or read anything positive anywhere.
And honestly, ladies, if you’re truly so against having a child—if the idea of pregnancy is genuinely the absolute worst thing that could happen to you right now—then why on earth aren't you being more careful???
I mean, when you consider how many different types of birth control are available and easy to get your hands on these days, I don't get why we see yet another frantic post popping up on this forum every single week...☕
I have this one friend who actually played it smart—she ended up pregnant by a guy she wasn't even in a serious relationship with, but they made a pact right away not to get married. Honestly, I can't even begin to describe the absolute nightmare she avoided by doing that 🙄 They actually get along famously; he stays on top of child support, drives them to doctor appointments, takes the kid for walks, and they even grab lunch together now. Everything is smooth sailing. As for how they would function if they lived under the same roof? I really have no clue
Then there’s another girl from my school days who rushed into marriage after just one month because she was pregnant. At the time, everyone in town acted like it was perfectly fine. Fast forward a few years, and they went through a brutal divorce filled with nothing but bitterness and resentment; they can't even stand to be in the same room anymore. Meanwhile, her kid is five now and has already grown used to having both parents in one house. I can't even imagine the shock they both went through when everything fell apart.
What was the absolute worst part? Honestly, I think we really went through the wringer. Getting pregnant was such a struggle for us, and we even dealt with two miscarriages along the way... but man, looking back, maybe it was just meant to be that we didn't have more kids, and we were supposed to just focus on enjoying our marriage and traveling instead. 🤷

Well, look, I got married without being pregnant, and let me tell you, it didn't go well at all. When I told people at work I was getting married in September—it was January at the time—they immediately hit me with: "Oh, are you expecting?" As if, if I were actually pregnant, there's no way I would have waited eight months just to tie the knot. 🤣
After six months of marriage passed without a pregnancy, they started asking, "So, what are you waiting for?" Once we hit the one-year mark, the gossip started: "Poor things, they're probably going to have issues." By the second year, people were literally inventing diagnoses for us and shoving unsolicited advice on how to conceive down our throats.
Then, when I finally did get pregnant after two and a half years of marriage, suddenly everyone’s tone changed to: "Aww, poor things, I feel so bad for them, they had such a hard time."🤣
Michael King said:I suppose there isn't much I can say other than this... we had originally intended to hold our wedding this coming spring, but then we found out we were expecting a baby, so we decided to move everything up and tied the knot at the end of last year.
And of course, people are going to claim that we only got married because I'm pregnant. It's almost as if the fact that we’ve been together for several years and had very serious intentions all along just doesn't matter to them.
It was quite frustrating to deal with at the time, though I suppose I don't really care about those comments anymore.
Tell me about it... people can be so small-minded. If you aren't pregnant, they find something else to judge you for. You just can't win with them. 🤣
It honestly drives me crazy when people shower me with questions, but then turns out just as irritating when they don't ask anything at all.
I know I’ve been guilty of this too—I used to steer clear of pregnant women whenever I was struggling to conceive without any luck. It wasn't because I was being jealous or anything like that, it was just that I couldn't bear to be around it, knowing that almost every conversation would inevitably end with some nosy person asking, "So, when are you guys having a baby?"
Trust me, it’s actually a sign that everything is going exactly as it should. I never quite understood that theory myself, though, because what about all those other pregnant women who don't deal with nausea at all? Every OB-GYN I've ever talked to has told me the same thing—morning sickness is basically just a sign of a healthy pregnancy. 😍
They usually say it starts tapering off after the first trimester, around week 12, but I’m already at week 13 and I’m still feeling it
au pixie, you're totally wrong about the vomiting part😢
I haven't stopped since my 6th week. But hey, if it works for you, go for it—I've seen several OB-GYNs, and plenty of them during these last 3 months 🤣 told me that morning sickness is actually just a sign that everything is progressing normally 😍
Honestly, I felt so terrible that I actually ended up in the ER getting an IV drip, but the baby is doing fine and it's all something you can push through
My little guy is right here with me, lounging on the couch, and I just can't help but give him a kiss on the head 😁
Everyone looks at me like I'm crazy, but honestly, what am I supposed to do? He’s my indoor dog—he's clean, well-groomed, up to date on all his shots, and he gets nothing but love and the best care possible.
You have to keep your distance from animals just so you don't pick up some random bacteria.
🙂
I’ve had my dog for six years now, and it never even crosses my mind to avoid petting him, taking him for walks, or acting like he doesn't exist. Seriously, what am I actually going to get if I just hang out with my own dog???
Look, I feel totally betrayed by my LH surges. I would have bet everything that I was ovulating around the 14th or 15th
But the strips showed it didn't actually happen until the 19th or 20th
I have absolutely no clue what those earlier surges were even doing, but they clearly weren't signaling ovulation😳
It’s honestly infuriating because I spent months timing everything perfectly, having sex exclusively during those supposed windows, wondering why we weren't getting pregnant...
mistyridge5 said:I suppose DPO really is the most important factor here. I used those Clearblue Compact tests—I think I went through about $12 of them. When I was at 30 DPO (which was basically two days after my period was due), the test showed a very, very faint line. That was right around the 12 DPO mark, I believe.
Yeah, true, if you actually know when ovulation happened. Otherwise, you’re better off just waiting until your expected period date arrives.
I had a pretty good idea that I ovulated around day 18 or 19 because of a positive test strip, so that's how I was doing my math.
It honestly drives me crazy when I run into women who are heavily pregnant or already have kids—you know the type. They give you that look, that condescending little "just you wait" glance, like they’re some kind of seasoned veteran looking down on you...
