It honestly drives me crazy when people start lecturing me, especially since they know damn well I’m vomiting so much I can barely keep a single meal down
I guess you have to eat for two now

Is this a normal weight? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
So, I'm about 6'0", maybe 6'1" 😛 and weighing in at 187 lbs. Female 🤣 I used to be 205 🤦 and I'd actually like to drop another 10 or 15 pounds, even though according to those BMI calculators, my current weight is supposedly "ideal" for my height 🤷
I actually teared up when I realized there was no breadcrumb stash left, so I couldn't even attempt to make my chicken... but hey, at least I'm not pregnant 😂
Dana Miller2 said:I always dodge that question myself, because you never really know what someone is going through behind closed doors.

You dodge it, I dodge it, honestly everyone with any sense avoids it. But when you feel like you're being called out—like people start digging into why, especially since I've only been married for a year and they're already asking why we aren't having kids yet—👎 I honestly have no clue how to respond. My go-to is just a dismissive wave of the hand, something like "maybe someday, there's plenty of time," but part of me really wants to come up with a slightly snarky comeback just to make them feel awkward for even bringing it up...🤔
Does this topic specifically mean "while pregnant," or can it apply to the period before you're even expecting?

If it's the latter, I find people who constantly corner me to ask when they'll see a baby or why I'm not having kids yet absolutely infuriating. 🙄 Honestly, that kind of intrusive, rude meddling in someone else's private life is just 👎
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
Up until about two months ago, my cycle was actually pretty predictable. Then, out of nowhere, I started getting these tiny bits of spotting, followed by nothing the next day, then some brown discharge, and then total silence again. It’s only after a few days of that mess that I finally get a heavy flow, so that’s when I actually count it as day one of my period
Can air conditioning cause ovarian inflammation? in Women's Health ·
I ended up with a brutal bladder infection because of the AC at my office and the vents in my car blowing air directly at my legs. The pain was so unbearable I had to rush to the ER; I was passing thick blood and clots constantly 😲

They ran everything—X-rays, blood work, urine tests, ultrasounds, you name it—and the verdict was a nasty, severe bladder infection 😲 I was put on injections, antibiotics, and Voltaren, but after two weeks, I finally went back to work wearing extra layers of underwear just to feel safe 😬

Just a heads-up to everyone out there: watch out for this, because it is seriously awful 😢

Is it actually okay for a pregnant woman to attend a funeral? I've heard some old wives' tales suggesting that many pregnant women end up getting sick or vomiting after attending one.😕

I didn't even go to the funeral and I still ended up miscarrying 😢
stormymason11 said:Hey everyone!
I’m new to this group, and honestly, with all the different threads and sub-topics floating around, I’m feeling a little lost on where to even start. But it felt like the right place to vent/ask for advice (though please correct me if I'm totally off base here).
So, for about three weeks now, I've been dealing with this weird, sharp poking sensation in my lower abdomen and ovaries. Then, over the last ten days or so, the nausea kicked in, and I’ve pretty much lost my appetite entirely—which, I guess isn't the worst thing if I lose a few pounds, right? But yesterday, I noticed my breasts are acting crazy; the veins are super visible and blue, they feel slightly swollen around the nipples (even if they aren't hurting too much yet), and my bras are starting to feel way too tight. Oh, and the bloating is just brutal 😢.
Everything is screaming at me that I might be pregnant (my gut is telling me so), even though the test I took a week ago came back negative. I’m assuming I just took it way too early, since it had only been about 20 days since I actually had sex, and I still had about a week until my period was due. It hasn't shown up 🙂.
Anyway, I just picked up a new test. I think I'm going to take it tomorrow morning. The lady at the CVS suggested using a Post-it Note. I'm really hoping it works. Has anyone else used that brand before? What was your experience like?

p.s. Sorry for the massive wall of text...

Honestly, I think this is the most practical way to go—it’s fast, it’s cheap, and it just works. For me, it showed that second line when I was already three days late...

I actually just finished making it two days ago, and everything seemed to be working fine—so I was thinking I might have gotten ahead of schedule. But then yesterday I started spotting, which makes me think I won't be able to be pregnant after all...

Honestly, sometimes it’s just better to wait until they're running late...

Good luck.
I feel bad 🙂 it’ll happen again during the next cycle 👍
Stinging sensation after partner ejaculates in Women's Health ·
I’m running into this same issue myself. Does anyone actually know what's causing this?
I took a test 14 days past ovulation and it came back negative

My period is late, but I honestly have a gut feeling that it's just coming. If nothing happens by June 1st, I’ll just run another test

Elizabeth Jackson64 said:1. So, I have a referral through the Social Security Administration and I also have supplemental health insurance, if that even matters... will I end up having to pay an extra 50-$33? (just guessing the price, assuming there even is one)

2. @Melissa Martinez5: you really scared me there... was painful periods and occasional ovulation pain your only PCOS symptom?? (sigh...) because my cycles are usually totally regular, it's just that the pain has gotten way worse over the last six months... maybe because we've been sexually active this past year.. 🤷

3. and, one more little question.. is it better to schedule the appointment right after my period ends when everything is "cleaner," or does it not matter as long as I'm not currently on it?

1. I don't think so; if there is a fee, it should be something minor, but definitely bring some cash just in case.

2. Don't stress too much about the PCOS; there are definitely worse things out there than that. 😉

3. Try to go around day 10-15; they might be able to check your ovulation then too.😉
Bad habits and how to break them... in Women's Health ·
Elizabeth Jackson64 said:Like, using a pad during ovulation? No way am I heading out to meet friends, going to campus, or being anywhere if I feel like I've got something sticking to my underwear... 😍

I’m right there with you on this one.😍

I used to sleep without any underwear just so everything could "breathe" down there 😂 but I stopped doing that once I realized it wasn't actually doing anything for me

Plus, my OB-GYN gave me a pretty stern warning against using tampons.🙂
St. John's Wort oil in Health ·
Since I’m getting absolutely zero replies on the other thread...

How effective is the St. John's Wort oil you pick up at a local CVS or Walgreens? I can't exactly go out and forage for my own right now.

I'm asking because I'm dealing with some persistent vaginal issues—constant yeast infections, Ureaplasma that keeps coming back no matter how many rounds of antibiotics I finish, plus HPV, dryness, and swelling.

Thanks.
Naked at the doctor's office in Health ·
I remember one time I was at the dentist getting a filling when two med students just barged in. The doctor actually let them take a crack at it, letting them try their hand at drilling and patching things up myself 🙄

Then there was that other time my surgeon was performing a minor procedure on my toenail—he actually handed the tools over to a student so she could "get some practice" cutting and pulling at it 😂

But honestly, the absolute peak of this absurdity was what happened to my husband. During his colonoscopy, they actually brought students right into the room 😲

I’ve never had anyone walk in on me during a gynecological exam, and frankly, I really hope it stays that way.

How to perform a proper breast self-exam? in Women's Health ·
Laura Thomas55 said:Is a price of $117 for a breast ultrasound reasonable? I haven't called any other clinics, so I have no idea what other private practices are charging.

Look, if you can afford it and the price feels fair to you, then it's fine.🤷

I personally paid $233 (350 for the ultrasound, 350 for the biopsy). To be honest, the cost wasn't my main concern because I just wanted to get the exam done as quickly as possible to make sure everything was okay. If I had booked through a major hospital system, I would've been waiting a month or more. By going private, I was already in for my appointment the very next day...
northerntiger said:Finding condoms that don't give you that stinging sensation can be such a massive headache. It feels like half the brands out there are just loaded with harsh chemicals or weird additives that trigger an immediate reaction. If you're dealing with irritation, it’s definitely worth looking into options that skip the heavy scents and lubricants that usually cause the most trouble. You really have to hunt for something specifically labeled as sensitive or hypoallergenic to get any relief...

I was actually just about to write this exact same thing. Honestly, most brands leave me feeling a bit numb, but I’ve found that Durex Ultra Thin ones are a total game-changer—you can barely even tell you're wearing them. It might be worth experimenting with a few different varieties to see if there's a better fit for you...

So you're saying you can't even think about getting pregnant until you've actually sorted out those thyroid issues first... but if you go ahead and fix the thyroid, then what? 🤷
