Monitors from >$2000 They aren't really my area of expertise, so I wouldn't suggest making a call without reading through plenty of reviews first. 🙂
Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
It's a tough call, but I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either. Just do some digging and read through the reviews to see what people are saying, but if you're going that screen size, you absolutely have to go with 1440p. Using 1080p on a monitor that big just won't cut it.

As for the wall mount, I haven't got a clue, to be honest. You should probably check the manufacturer's spec sheets or just ask Almighty Google. 😬

enough?

Of course. It would be a shame to have a build like that without a dedicated GPU🕺

EVGA
Dell Monitor, 21inch 1920x1080
The PC is 5 years old, so I assume he just needs a new GPU.

I was planning to buy one around $500 date, but I have absolutely no clue what to look for. Is it better to get something used or buy new right now? He won't be playing much since he's limited to one hour a day.

Thanks for the help

This will fit perfectly; maybe Dad will get to play a little too then😉

Look, man, I’ve told you several times already—what you’ve got right now is the best value for your money. You don't need to change a single thing, but if you're really itching for those $50 go ahead and grab that RAM... even though it won't make any difference, not even in the clock speed.

Ordered through Newegg—you can pretty much swap out the components yourself if you want.

$2667 man, just an RX580. You spent way too much on those SSDove while the GPU took a massive hit. You should've at least thrown in a 1660Ti, seriously. 🍿

Jerry Wright8 said:Thanks for getting back to me. I assume you're referring to the note about needing at least an i5, and that those "F" series chips don't come with integrated graphics.
Does having integrated graphics actually impact the processor's performance, or is it just a dedicated component handling things separately?

No, you could totally go with something like an Intel Pentium Gold; it still has integrated graphics that can handle dual monitors.🙂 Which specific "F" model are you looking at? If you mean something like a 9400F, then yeah, those are definitely the ones without integrated graphics.

The GPU is built-in, but it won't drag down your CPU performance—for basic office work, the integrated graphics will be more than enough. You could also look into an Intel Core i3; the graphics are better and they tend to be cheaper, so they'll get the job done just fine.

Jerry Wright8 said:Hey there,

If I pick up a motherboard like this one:

https://www.newegg.com/p/motherboard-example-link

Which has one HDMI and one HDMI port—is a dual display setup actually doable where I run two monitors at once (one on the HDMI and the other on the second HDMI)? I don't need it for gaming, just basic office work, but having two screens is a must for me. Can the integrated graphics handle a combo like that, or am I asking for too much?

Thanks for any help!

Of course, as long as you're using a processor with integrated graphics. You don't even need to go for such an expensive model; there are plenty of cheaper motherboards out there that come with two outputs.

James Gomez2 said:I'd probably lean toward the 2060... maybe even pair it with an Intel Core i7? Or is that just not worth it compared to what you can get with a Ryzen?

If I were to go the Ryzen + 2060 route, what kind of build would you suggest?

Adding an i7 will bump the price up by about $667, so keep that in mind 🙂

If you’re set on the 2060, you don't actually need to change anything else in the build—just swap out the 1660Ti for the 2060 and you're good to go.

Something like this, for example: CLICK It’s a fair amount of cash for those specs, but if you really want that RTX power, go for it. 👍

James Gomez2 said:I’ve been poking around a bit... is an RTX 2060 actually worth the trouble—and would it even be feasible to build a rig up to $2333 using one?

The only real dealbreaker is that I need to be able to pay via PayPal (doesn't have to be through Uzishop)

It's doable, obviously, since it's about ~$133 more expensive. Performance-wise they're pretty close; I'd say the RTXica is maybe a few FPSa better on average, but not enough to really justify the extra cost.

You won't even get much use out of Fičrse RTXa (ray tracing/DLSS) with a 2060 because those features are just too "expensive" for the FPS you'll get.
On one hand, getting the 2060 feels kind of pointless because it simply isn't powerful enough to run any major AAA titles with ray tracing enabled on high settings.

So, I think your current combo is plenty, but if you really want it, go ahead and grab the 2060. You aren't making a huge mistake if you think those extra 5 FPSa are worth it. 🙂

I suppose I should thank you—it’s been running without a single hiccup, and I’m typing this from the same machine while it still holds up.

It is finally time for an upgrade, and my budget is a bit more flexible this time—around $2000 at most.

I use my PC for everything, though let's be honest, gaming is the priority. I have one non-negotiable requirement, though—it HAS to be built through

Thanks again, and I'm hoping for some solid advice once more.

By the way, if anyone could recommend a decent gaming monitor under $667, I wouldn't mind.

Could you maybe grab the graphics card from somewhere else?

I can't make sense of this link. It looks like it might be broken or lead to a page that isn't loading properly on my end. If you're trying to share something specific, try sending the text directly or checking the URL again.

🤣

But what's actually insane is that those filters used to work perfectly fine. Why on earth would you pull a perfectly functional feature that an e-commerce site actually needs? Now they're worse than Walmart—Walmart has crappy filters, but at least they actually have them...

stormyviper2 said:Personally, I’d rather go with 16 GB of RAM paired with a solid midrange power supply, maybe something like a Corsair CX m or similar. Honestly, a 750W Gold unit feels like overkill when you're just running a 65W CPU and a 120W GPU.

Edit; I just caught the price tag—at $499, it would be pretty silly not to grab it.

Exactly. If they really want that 16GB for Future-proofing, they should just stretch the budget there. It doesn't make sense to cut corners on other parts of the build just to afford the extra RAM.

stormyviper2 said:I’ve been there myself, and honestly, I told him the same thing—he’s definitely one of those die-hard Intel and Nvidia guys.😉

Edit;

If I were picking parts for a budget build like this, here is what I'd aim for:

A GTX 1060.
An Intel Core i5 6-core
12 GB of RAM
A 256 GB SSD.
A decent motherboard.
A reliable power supply.
A solid case.

+

He already has an old HDD lying around.

And he's got a monitor. So, we're really just looking at the tower itself.

Do you think all of that can fit into a $700 budget?

ASUS Prime B360M, LGA 1151 8th Gen
Intel Core i5-9400F (9MB Cache, 2.90GHz)
DDR4 8GB (1x8) PC4-21300U 2666MHz CL19 G.Skill NT Series
Gigabyte RTX 2060 OC GDDR6 6GB
Crucial MX500 250GB SSD
SAMA 750W 80PLUS GOLD
Zalman Z1 NEO mid tower case

Total: $2325 Best Buy

The PSU is overkill, but it's such a killer deal it's totally worth it.
I wouldn't even touch 12 GB of RAM; I'd stick to either 8 or 16. If he really wants to save money, he could swap the SAMA for an EVGA 850 and get maybe another $33 back.

BTW, does anyone know what happened with the new site layout at Best Buy? There aren't even any filters for detailed component searches?

As long as everything looks fancy and polished... 🕺

Jesse Jones15 said:Hey guys. What do you think about these builds? Are the prices fair or just inflated? Is it worth picking up anything here for 3k?

Check out PlayToWin's profile on Craigslist www.craigslist.org/profile/139556

Nokia 7 plus

They aren't bad deals actually, because for 3k, the best you can usually find new is an RX560 and some Ryzen 1200, and that's without even including an SSD. If you still get the receipts and the warranty like the ad claims, I'd say it's a solid deal.

Just try to negotiate the price down, obviously 😉

You can run FX-ev processors on that board. Just double-check what kind of power supply you're running; if it's a reputable brand, you might be able to snag a used FX 4300/6300 (I wouldn't recommend an FX 8300 for a board that basic).
Aside from dropping in a better GPU, that's pretty much all there is to it for that budget.
