If those prices are in USD, we're looking at roughly $2,600. I’d say this is a pretty uncompromising build. If you're really interested in heavy overclocking, you could always go with some high-end liquid cooling, but honestly, that feels like overkill for most people.

Wtf? I'm running high settings at 60+ FPS on my Intel Pentium G3220 paired with a 260X with 1GB VRAM. That Intel Celeron G5400 is basically just an i3 from a couple of days ago...😲
You can find some decent deals on individual components there, but only 🙂once in a blue moon. That’s why having a dedicated procurement specialist is worth it.
If you were to sell this thing off piece by piece, MAYBE you might get close to that number. As a complete bundle? You aren't breaking $1,000, because I highly doubt anyone is looking to buy an entire setup based on such outdated architecture. If someone happens to be hunting for one specific part, they'll reach out.
The motherboard is a bit tricky because those LGA 1155 boards are pretty high in demand. I’d put it at $133, though they might fly off the shelf quick.
As for the graphics card, what kind of failure are we talking about? If you're seeing artifacts, someone might want to try a repair, maybe bake it, so you might get around 300 for it. If it's totally dead, maybe 50-$33 if someone just needs the heatsink or fans or something similar.

Sure, but $50 they're just going up to the same capacity. You won't really feel any difference—honestly, you won't. The only thing you get is the warranty, and that's about it.
A GeForce GTX 1060 for $567 is an absolute steal, provided it’s actually reliable. If I were in the market for a card right now, I wouldn't even hesitate
My mistake, I misread those prices. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with going with what they suggested. The Gigabyte card is actually better because it has more vents—basically better cooling—so you definitely won't regret picking that one. Just stick with what crimsonstag84 corrected and you'll be fine.
crimsonnomad5 said:They’re out of stock on the motherboard and GPU crimstag84 mentioned. Instead, they're offering me this as a swap:
So, what's the move? Also, I need a recommendation for a Wi-Fi adapter—internal or external, honestly doesn't matter to me.
It's a bit of a tough spot. That cheaper Palitica only comes with a two-year warranty, but the Gigabyte model is sitting at 4 mil, which is pretty steep... You could probably find a middle ground by grabbing the more expensive card and opting for a slightly cheaper motherboard instead. CLICK.
It’ll end up costing you maybe another $40 or $50, but you aren't losing a year of warranty, and you're getting way better cooling on the GPU instead of settling for some budget motherboard. In my opinion, that's not even a big deal... 🍿
A few days ago, my PC started acting up. I was playing Baldur's Gate when the screen suddenly went white and everything froze. I had to do a hard reset. Now, after the initial BIOS splash screen appears, right when it's supposed to load Windows (Windows 10—upgraded from Windows 8.1), the screen just stays black and nothing happens. I try another hard reset, but it’s the same story.
I'm thinking it's either my graphics card died on me or there's an issue with the PCIe slot on the motherboard.
Personally, I'm leaning toward the motherboard because I've been having issues with the USB ports losing connection lately (one is completely dead now), and the audio jack has been flaky too.
Here are my specs (built back in 2013):
Motherboard: MSI B75MA-E31 s1155 CPU: Intel i5-3350P 3.1 GHz/1155 Ivy HDD: Apple 500 GB SATA2 16 MB F3 Graphics: MSI R9 270 2 GB GAMING RAM: DDR3 8 GB (1x8) Kingston 1600 HX PSU: XFX 450W Case: Zalman Z3 Plus mid tower case CD/DVD: Apple Starlink SATA
If it turns out the motherboard is shot, should I just hunt down a replacement with the same socket and keep everything else? Or should I upgrade the whole setup? My plan would be to get a new motherboard with a newer socket along with a new CPU, then eventually add another 8 GB of RAM and an SSD.
Either way, I need some recommendations on what to buy.
I checked prices at Accenture, IBM, and Hard Rock Cafe, but it looks like nobody carries motherboards for the s1155 socket anymore, so I might have to look elsewhere.
I mostly use this PC for movies, gaming (nothing on ultra settings), work, and general daily stuff. How would you rate my current build, and what components should I prioritize if I want to move up to a higher-quality motherboard than what I have now?
I'd like to reuse my existing RAM, power supply, case, GPU, and DVD drive.
Finding s1155 motherboards is pretty tough; you'll struggle to find a decent deal. The rest of your build is actually quite solid, including the processor. If I were you, I'd check Craigslist first to see if anything useful pops up before moving on to eBay and other sites.
If you're willing to spend a bit more, you really can't go wrong by switching platforms. Something like an Intel Core i3-8100 paired with an ASUS B360M DS3H and 8GB of RAM (though you'll have to swap the RAM immediately since modern boards require DDR4). You could also go for something more future-proof like an i5 8400, but that'll run you another $50-$60 extra.
I was scrolling through eBay yesterday, and you can actually snag a Xeon E3 1220—basically an i5 4460—for around $50. Honestly, it beats just about anything you'd find locally. $200 It’s a decent price, though nothing life-changing. Especially since buying a CPU is arguably the lowest-risk part of a build, I think grabbing something like this from eBay is a pretty solid move.
Adam Ramirez12 said:Hey, how is the price for the cards so low? I paid 3300 (just FYI)
You paid 3300 for one? You probably bought it at the absolute worst possible moment; otherwise, those cards were going for just a few hundred more than 2000 when they were new.
When I was checking prices back in the day, they were around 1800, and right now the cheapest you can find is 2200. You could try asking 4000 for both, but I doubt anyone will bite because they honestly aren't worth that much. 3500 is still a stretch, but given the current market for GPUs (especially the RX series), you might be able to pull it off.
Samuel Castillo49 said:Why are you valuing the RX580 so high? You can pick up newer, better models with a 3-year warranty for around $2800-$967 though even that's a stretch. That card is worth $600 at best. The SSD is about $130-$50, and the motherboard is $233.
wiredotter14 said:I'm assuming we're talking about two cards since it says x2.
^ 😛
The motherboard is brand new ~$300 and honestly, they aren't exactly hot items or in high demand now that Coffee has dropped. He could ask for 700, but he'll struggle to find a buyer at that price since you can grab new ones for that kind of money.
Adam Ramirez12 said:Hey guys, I picked up this PC about a month ago this year, but I realized I don't really need it anymore. Looking to let it go, so I was wondering what a fair price would be for this setup: Asus Prime z270-k $167 CPU G4560 3.5 GHz $83 DDR4 8GB (2400 MHz) $133 Kingston SSD 120GB $150-$67 MSI RX580 8 GB armor OC x2 ~$3000-$1167 Facal Desing focus G red $67 Forton 600W, HyperM semi-modular $100
Thanks in advance!
Roughly speaking, though maybe someone else can refine those numbers.
I honestly don't get why anyone would drop $1800 on an RX 570, no matter how cheap it looks compared to those insane prices we were seeing a few months ago.
You can get a solid power supply for $167, or maybe grab something like a 550W Hexa for around 400. But if you're looking for those extra perks like modularity, you'll need to shell out a bit more.
And if you can snag that Corsair for that price, it’s probably the best value among the options you've got.
