Why was this fair moderator chosen? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Tyler Thomas12 said:I honestly can't believe this. 🙄
Of course you didn't get paid. When you're out there grinding on the ice, things happen. Everyone else got their last payout on the 13th, just like always. 😍

So, what now? Can people actually access the archives from outside again? 🙄 🙄

Mine just hit my account today... man, did anyone else get shortchanged, or is it just me?

It's gonna play out exactly like it did with Timothy Fowler39...
How do I delete my thread? in Forum Help! ·
Exactly what I've been saying.
How do I delete my thread? in Forum Help! ·
Look, I’m here, but not on some random sub-forum where you can just go around deleting things at will. If you want to beg a specific mod to wipe a thread, then go ahead and leave the post there. Or, if it’s actually urgent, just send a PM. If it’s a total emergency—though I highly doubt it is—you can always escalate it to a supermod or an admin.

Just hit up a moderator. That's really your only move here. 🙂

The archives don't need a moderator, if that's what you're getting at.
And the classifieds section isn't some high-stakes zone either, so there's no need for oversight there, either.
But look, if you actually want to be a moderator, you have to meet certain criteria. If I told you right now that having only 200 posts disqualifies you, you’d probably just start spamming to rack up numbers—but honestly, you'd more likely just end up getting banned.
Another thing: someone actually has to nominate you. That means you have to be liked, which implies you're actually decent, smart, don't post nonsense, aren't boring, help people out, or show some actual value in something.
We've seen plenty of these requests and questions before, but I don't think anyone ever becomes a moderator "just because."
And one more thing: there have already been complaints about you, and from multiple people at that, so you're better off dropping this whole suggestion. The sooner, the better.

Timothy Fowler39 said:Is being a fair moderator actually a massive headache, and what does the job even entail? Honestly, if it isn’t too much trouble and doesn't require some crazy amount of experience or constant attention, I was kind of thinking about giving it a shot by running a smaller thread for a bit, just to see how things work... please, if possible

Basically, you have to make sure nobody breaks the rules of that specific subforum—things like insults, ads, spamming, and all that junk. You hand out bans when necessary, issue warnings, delete posts, merge threads, help people out when you can, etc.
Depending on the section, it might be pretty chill, but some subforums are absolute nightmares to moderate and incredibly stressful. Honestly, quite a few moderators have quit because of it.
If you check the banned users section, you can see who people complain about most and which subforums they're from. Those are the good moderators—the ones actually keeping things under control.😁
As for "temporary" moderating, I don't think that's going to happen...👍 🙂
Look, I’ve tried every angle in the book, and honestly? I just don't hang out with those kinds of idiots who live to provoke people anymore. I keep my circle as small as necessary and that's about it.
I mean, I have a few friends who actually turned into that type of person. They used to be perfectly fine, but now? All they care about is mocking someone, throwing insults, or trying to get a rise out of people.
Yeah, true enough... I mean, unless there's some kind of decent setup ready to go. 👍
And we really ought to throw in those new subforums like Teense and the rest... 😁

Look, I've tried reporting things a few times myself. Sometimes they actually do something about it, and other times? Total radio silence...

That’s what a signature is for. You need to head over to Options and click Edit Signature
Besides, this is a question for the Help section, not the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... 🙂

Ah, I see.

Exactly. It’s like if you tell someone you don't think today is nice because you're convinced tomorrow will be better—you’ll end up in some pointless argument where everyone feels obligated to jump in, and then you just get banned.🙏
So, did you actually find a workaround for that little issue of yours? A new laptop or something?

There are some solid points here. Honestly, the best move is to just find a hobby—anything, really, as long as it’s actually useful. Or, if you're feeling desperate, just ask a moderator to ban you for a few days. If nobody bites, try posting twice in the politics section; you'll inevitably annoy someone, and then you can just tell them exactly what you need. Boom, ban achieved.
Taylor Campbell4 started a thread just like this one maybe two or three months ago. I can't remember how it ended up.
By the way, if you want to see how much someone actually uses this forum, just look at their daily post count:
@briskgull27—you've got 60. Isn't that actually a bit overkill?
And if you check out the top 10 or 20 most active users on the site, their average sits right around 30.
Subtitles for Mexican movies? in Movies ·
Kyle Roberts96 said:Let me translate that for anyone who can't read Cyrillic: 🙂

I’d actually subtitle this in American, but using Cyrillic—that way the younger generation gets a free lesson in an ancestral script that our school system basically ignored...

Honestly, I've been trying to pick up some Cyrillic lately. I feel like it's something you really ought to know, especially since there's a massive amount of incredible technical literature written in it. A professor even told me once that back at the university, they were required to study from books in Cyrillic, so if you didn't know it, you were pretty much stuck...

Honestly, it would be a massive help if they actually started dubbing movies and shows featuring people from the South Coast—or at least sync them properly. I swear, half the time I can't even catch two words of their dialect before I've completely lost the plot. We’d basically need to hire full-time translators just to turn that regional slang back into standard American English so we can actually follow what's happening on screen.

Kimberly Davis52 said:I’d love to see subtitles for that guy in Night School—the one Zuhra described as sounding like someone running over a seagull with a car. I can't make heads or tails of what he's saying.

Are we talking about that Canadian guy? Or Blaise? Honestly, I get both of them just fine, especially Blaise, since people talk exactly like that around my neighborhood...😁

As for subtitling everything: A hard NO from me. Even my little brother, who's only four or five, could follow those movies. He sticks to American films and shows because kids his age can't read subtitles fast enough.🤣
Drinking coffee on an empty stomach? in Health ·
I always have my coffee after I eat. Honestly, I don't think I've ever actually had it on an empty stomach. Besides, I've got a pretty massive appetite, so my stomach is rarely ever truly empty anyway. And as far as side effects go? No stomach aches or anything like that from the caffeine.
I’ve been noticing something lately—it feels like we rarely have more than 1,000 or 1,100 people active on the forum at once. Usually, seeing around 1,500 feels pretty standard. I think our record was sitting around 1,700 not too long ago, but now suddenly we're hitting 2,200?
Since when did we start having such low numbers hanging around the site?
Honestly, the server seems to be running flawlessly. Except, you know, the second I actually try to log onto the forum. Then everything falls apart again. Otherwise, it’s pretty solid.
