I can't sleep! Help! in Health ·
I honestly can’t catch a wink of sleep lately. I’m pretty sure it’s just this brutal summer heat, though. Stress isn't really the culprit—I don't have much to worry about right now since I finally got my college enrollment sorted, so that's one less thing on my plate.
I will say, though, I’ve been sleeping slightly better since the whole registration process (and everything else) wrapped up. Before that, sleep was practically non-existent.
Now, it takes me an hour or two to drift off, but eventually, I get there...😁
Then again, I've always been a terrible sleeper during the summer, so I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised by this. 🙂
So, what happens after you go through all those tests? Do they actually prescribe medication, tell you to switch up your diet, or what? 🤔
Look, I’m about 6'0" and under 155 pounds. Sure, that’s more than what the person in the original post mentioned, but I'm still way too thin for my height. Honestly, putting on another 10 or 20 pounds would be a massive win for me. 😁
The thing is, I eat like crazy—I'll eat pretty much anything put in front of me—but the scale just refuses to budge. 😬

Just between you and me. Otherwise, the general public would be getting it. 🙂

There’s also the possibility that we’re dealing with M. M. Kovač. If that’s actually you, you might just land an admin spot right now.

If you actually went through that thread I linked and still can't find your answer, let me break it down for you: the moderators pick the veteran mods. Some of the basic requirements are that they’ve been on Reddit for at least six months or more—that's just the baseline—and they usually need a solid 500 posts under their belt, though obviously, a high post count doesn't always mean someone's actually worth reading...😁
Then, they have to actually stand out from the rest of the crowd. They shouldn't be constantly picking fights, they need to know how to hold a civilized debate, and they definitely can't have any bans on their record for the heavy stuff, like hate speech or being straight-up abusive to other users...
Basically, they just can't be a headache.

Look, there isn't a way around it: someone else has to nominate you. You can't just throw your own hat in the ring. 🙂

Look, I already gave you a link in my very first reply to this thread that points you toward some answers. Just click it. 🙂

velvetgull9, yeah... she used to hang out with that other Tito all the time. 😬

Here’s that thread again, just in case:

So, go ahead and figure out for yourself what it actually takes to be a systems administrator. 🙏

The rest of you, please, try to keep the spamming to a minimum.
Bilirubin levels in Health ·
Look, my bilirubin levels were actually higher than yours at one point. Honestly, I probably waited too long to get my bloodwork done, so I’m not really sure where things stand right now.
When I first found out my bilirubin was spiked, I went full drill sergeant on myself. I cut out alcohol entirely, watched everything I ate, the whole nine yards...
But then, little by little, I started sliding back into my old habits 😬, and let's just say those habits weren't exactly "wellness" approved. That said, I haven't had any issues—no pain, no symptoms, nothing.
Maybe I ought to head back to the doctor and see if everything has leveled out again... 🙂
C-section: Questions and potential complications... in Women's Health ·
Donna Hayes12 said:"The origin of the term C-section (sectio caesarea) is pretty murky, and there are three main theories:
1. According to some unproven legend, Julius Caesar was actually born via this method, so the surgery was named after him.
2. Some believe it comes from Roman law (lex regia), which required extracting a child from a deceased mother—a procedure known as lex cesaria.
3. In the Middle Ages, the word 'caesarea' referred to cutting (from the Latin 'caedere'), and since 'sectio' also means cutting, the term 'sectio caesarea' is basically just a tautology.
This is straight out of an OBGYN textbook, so feel free to pick whichever theory sounds best to you.🙂

That’s just what Wikipedia says... in English...😁
Well, now we know where most internet articles get their info... hey, at least it's reliable, I guess...🙂
Iconic movie fight scenes in Movies ·
Bruce Lee, Tiger Woods, and a few Jackie Chan flicks (not all of them 😁)...
Mostly just those Eastern action movies. Western fight scenes? Honestly, they’re pretty pathetic. Hardly any of them actually hold up, maybe The Matrix if you're lucky. 🙂
C-section: Questions and potential complications... in Women's Health ·
Not quite. That’s the common misconception, but it's just not how it worked. One theory is that the name actually comes from Caesar.
You can dig up all the other theories over on Wikipedia...😁
Basically, about 2,000 years ago—and even a bit after that 😁—babies were only delivered that way if the mother didn't make it through childbirth, so they'd try to save at least one child.
Caesar's mother lived for another 16 or 17 years, so there's no way she was born that way... 🙂
Full Moon tonight in Health ·
I’m officially joining the club of people who can't catch a wink of sleep during a full moon. 😁
Sometimes I’m staring at the ceiling until the sun comes up, and other times I just lie there tossing and turning for hours on end. 🙂
Add Adolescents and the moderator subforum...😬
And hey, let's move the PDFs above the options. Also, we could probably just scrap the "today's posts" button since we already have "new posts."
If they’d just let us add a few more subforums, this place would actually be incredible...🙏
Anyone else's thoughts on weed? in Health ·
Look, I’m only interested in one thing here—and I mean this out of pure curiosity 😁—the potential upside. The actual non-harmful benefits. I already know there are some, simply because everyone says weed is less damaging than cigarettes. I've seen that written all over the internet.
So, are there any genuine perks to using marijuana? There has to be a reason why doctors in the US prescribe it for medical use, right?

so consider this my official unsolicited advice. 🤣

Looking for a safe spot to burp up what you ate? Enlighten me. 😬

Hmm... is this because of a warning or something else? 😁
Damn, I guess I actually have to maintain some semblance of order around here...😬
The safest bet would be somewhere far away from everyone else, where nobody can hear me and I've got a trash can within arm's reach. Honestly, the bathroom is best. It makes cleanup way easier.
The absolute worst choice is anywhere with carpet.

Amy Lee18 said:Yeah, true. Next time, maybe just try covering your teeth with something if you're burping that much. Or just learn how to burp properly so it doesn't get stuck in your teeth. Open your mouth wider, for crying out loud. 😬

🤣
I honestly don't know whether I should thank you for the "advice," but let me save you the trouble... 😬
I don't burp that often; I do my best to avoid it entirely.
And no, I have zero intention of taking "burping lessons." Unless it's absolutely necessary, in which case I'll just make sure I'm somewhere private so I don't leave a mess behind. 😁
🙂
