Sam Kim12 said:Tandara gives me the chills. Look, she’s alright, but her sister? Total nightmare. She basically treated me like some idiot off the street when I showed up at the Grizanski clinic looking for my dear Mrsic-Novacki. Apparently, Mrsic-Novacki moved to a new location without telling a single patient, and to top it off, they changed the office hours. To make matters worse, you can only reach them by phone for one hour a day—it's impossible to get through. Anyway, Tandara's sister just snapped at me like I was some kid playing in the street, saying, "Well, you should have known where the doctor moved!" ...Give me a break. It’s not like I’m Nostradamus or a psychic; I can't just sense when someone relocates, especially when there hasn't been a single notice posted anywhere, not even at the old office.

Ugh, tell me about it 😱. I had a run-in with Tandara back when she was working with Mrsic-Novacki, and I dealt with that old sister of hers (middle-aged, black hair, blue eyes), who actually used to be quite sweet.
Honestly, thank goodness you mentioned Mrsic-Novacki moved. I remember seeing some sort of notice on the door about moving over to Dankov Avenue, but I had no idea the move actually happened. I don't get why they took the sign down from the old office now🙄.
Seriously, if you have her phone number or the new office hours, please shoot me a private message.
I managed to transfer over to the local West Health Center, and now I have to go see Mrsic-Novacki to get my medical records. I had no clue this wasn't handled officially anymore—I didn't realize I’d have to physically haul my own files over myself.
By the way, I switched to the clinic over in the Ivy district because everyone there claims to have over 2,000 patients; the doctor I moved to has 2,182, and she basically charmed me into being patient number 2,183.🙄.

I’m trying to figure out if there’s actually a rule regarding taking on new patients. To be honest, I live all the way on the other side of town and trekking 10 miles to my primary care doctor is a massive pain. But every single time I call a clinic at the West Health Center right next to my building, they just tell me they aren't accepting new patients 😕.
How am I supposed to switch to a doctor who isn't so far 9.3 miles from my place 😁? Should I just start calling every single health center in order, starting with the closest ones and working my way out? It feels like everyone is just going to give me the same excuse about being full. I honestly don't get 🙂

Sam Kim12 said:Any recommendations for a solid GP in the Grizanski area?

Mainly, I need someone who isn't arrogant, actually knows what they're doing, and has a nurse who actually picks up the phone—which seems to be a miracle these days)
Right now, I'm seeing Mrsic-Novacki, and I can't say one nice thing about her; she has completely crossed the line. I was thinking about switching to Dr. Puljević (I think that's the name), but then I sat in the waiting room and heard a chorus of miserable patients complaining about the nurse. She acts like she's in the Wild West, and even the doctors aren't happy with her😢

Maybe Matilda Tandara?
I used to see Mrsic-Novacki too, and for a little while, Tandara was covering for her. She seemed much better than Mrsic to me—she actually sent me for the necessary tests and generally seemed more engaged in my care
. I wasn't her patient for very long, though, so I can't really say how she is in the long run 🙂.😉
Beauty Mods in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Honestly, this thread isn't any more off-topic or filled with trolls than any other discussion on this site. People aren't just being jerks for the sake of it; they're reacting to the fact that you're spamming the exact same advertisement every single day—sometimes even multiple times a day. It’s grating. I don't consider their comments to be some massive violation of the rules. We're keeping an eye on the thread, but we aren't going to micro-manage it like we used to, just like we don't micromanage any other topic here.

And just to be clear, all the standard forum rules still apply to this thread, obviously. We just aren't enforcing those extra, specific set of rules anymore. I'm pretty sure you're already aware of that, 🙂.
Selling fakes on Reddit - is it allowed or not? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The whole issue with counterfeits is way more complicated than just slapping down a rule saying they’re banned, or conversely, deciding it’s fine as long as you slap a "fake" disclaimer on the listing.

Here are a few scenarios that have popped up—and honestly, still do:
1. Someone is selling a fake without even realizing it themselves. Cosmetics are notorious for being high-quality knockoffs; you'll see girls buying stuff on eBay thinking it's the real deal, only to turn around and list it here on Reddit without knowing it's a counterfeit. We even have entire threads dedicated to spotting fakes because, let's be real, it isn't always easy to tell.
In most of these cases, other users spot the fake first. They send me proof, I reach out to the sellers, and usually, the sellers either admit they didn't know and update the listing to say it's a fake, or they just pull the item from sale entirely.
2. Someone sells a fake but doesn't disclose it. Then someone else calls them out. Now I'm stuck in the middle—I don't actually know if it's a fake or not, and the seller is swearing up and down that it's authentic. In those moments, I'll edit the listing to warn potential buyers that there's a chance it might be counterfeit. This obviously tanks the price, because nobody wants to pay full retail for something that might be a dud. I've probably screwed over a few honest sellers this way, indirectly hitting their wallets because the product was actually real but they ended up having to sell it at a discount. But what can I do? My point is, making that call is incredibly difficult.🤷
3. Someone sells a fake without disclosing it, but you absolutely cannot tell from the photos for several reasons:
a) It's a stock photo from the internet, so it's not even an actual shot of the item being sold.
b) The lighting or angle makes it impossible to see the telltale signs (like if someone takes a photo of open blush where you can't see the lid or the bottom of the pan—which is usually how you spot a fake).
c) The item isn't in its original packaging, like a perfume decant, so there's no box or bottle to inspect for authenticity.
In almost all these situations, things get messy. People end up losing money thinking they bought the real thing, and then you get the full circus: drama, public call-outs, accusations, threats, you name it. And I haven't done anything to stop it because, frankly, I don't know what I *can* do.

Up until about six months to a year ago, selling fakes was strictly prohibited. Since we implemented the rule that says "selling fakes is allowed as long as you clearly state it's a fake," these blowups happen way less often. Why? Mainly because people would rather take whatever cash they can get for a product while keeping their reputation intact (meaning they can keep selling on this platform) rather than trying to pass off a fake as an original and getting their name dragged through the mud for months. If you do that, you basically seal your own fate and ensure you can never sell anything here again.

As far as I'm concerned, sure, we could just ban counterfeits altogether.
Look, I'm not a lawyer, and I don't know every single US consumer law by heart. I'm assuming it's illegal to sell copies, even if you label them as copies. But then I have to wonder: how is it perfectly legal for companies to sell "inspired by" fragrances or cheap dupes that carry names nearly identical to the originals? Take a look at this: http://www.parfumi-fm.com/?klasicni-parfemi-15-ml.,99
I mean, isn't a fake, by definition, a product that uses the same identity as the original but isn't the original?

P.S. Lisa Nelson70, which moderator were you asking about this issue, and when? Please, give me an answer so I can finally satisfy my curiosity.😁 And where else did you post these questions?

Since you've brought this topic up, do you have any suggestions on how we should handle these specific scenarios? It's always easiest to just say "yes" or "no" to something, but it's never that simple.😁, but they better have some actual solutions ready for the fallout from that decision 😉.

Dental health tips and advice in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
Thanks 😉.
I finally cleared up my confusion 😬. I spent some time scrolling through this thread and realized we just end up circling the same drain with the same questions over and over. Honestly, there's no shame in me asking something that’s already been covered 😳. So, I asked, got my answer, and now I'm good to go 😬.
Dental health tips and advice in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
Hey everyone, sorry for starting a whole new thread here 😳. I wasn't quite sure where this request would fit best, so I figured I’d just put it out there. Honestly, feel free to toss this thread straight into the trash once you've had a chance to read it 😬.

I have a quick favor to ask 😳. Would it be possible to split the Dental Questions Megathread into a few different sub-topics based on specific categories 🙂? Something like "Restorative Work," "Endodontics," "Cosmetic Dentistry," "Prosthodontics," "Oral Surgery," and so on
. The problem is that the current thread is way too broad. You might see three posts about dental crowns, and then immediately jump into three more about extractions. Readers end up having to sift through a ton of stuff they couldn't care less about just to find the specific info they actually came for
.
I'm sure there's a reason why everything related to teeth is lumped together in one spot, but please, just consider my reasoning 😬.

Anyway, that's my two cents 🙂.
Sorry again for being a nuisance
.
Thanks for considering it, whether you decide to go with it or not 😬.

Can't sleep. Any tips? in Health ·
I saw the title and honestly, it felt like it was written specifically for me 😂.
The thing is, I need about 10 hours of sleep 😱. But since I have a job and have to be up by 6 AM every single day, I can't exactly just head to bed at 8 PM 😂. If I get less than 8 hours, I'm basically a zombie—my blood pressure and blood sugar tank, and I’ve actually fainted before 😢.
Even when I manage to hit that 8-hour mark most of the week, I still feel completely drained and exhausted; once I finally get home, I'm absolutely useless. I don't know anyone my age (I'm 25) who needs this much sleep 😬. For me, it’s always been this way 🤷. My doctors say everything is fine—I even went in for a full physical last month
. I see some of you posting about struggling with sleeping too much—well, that's not my problem. On the weekends, I'll sleep for 12 hours straight and feel amazing. Happy, refreshed, the whole nine yards 😂.
So, yeah. That's the situation. I would be thrilled if I could somehow train my body to function on just 8 hours 🙂

Scott Williams62 said:Let’s circle back to the main topic for a second..

The symptoms described by the person in the first post really sound like claustrophobia, you know? That intense fear of being in tight spaces.

My mom actually deals with claustrophobia too, so she can't stand getting on a bus or a subway or anything like that. It's even worse if the room is technically big but just feels super cramped because it's packed with people... she gets the exact same symptoms then, too!

I wouldn't say I'm claustrophobic; I'm actually perfectly fine in small or enclosed spaces. Public transit doesn't bother me much either, mostly because my rides aren't that long...

Anyway, I picked up some ginger tablets from CVS—a 20-count pack, made by an American manufacturer, priced at $12 (link). On a recent trip, I took two at once (as directed), and the boat ride itself was actually fine. I felt a little dizzy, sure, but nothing intense enough to make me feel sick to my stomach. A few hours later, though, I started feeling weak, so I took another one (the instructions say you can take 1-2 more every four hours or as needed). All things considered, they seem to work 😁... My question is, how long will the effects last? I have to deal with this commute every single day 🤷...
Motion sickness while driving in Health ·
I feel like this thread has veered off course...
If someone claims that wearing a red scarf helps with their nausea—no matter how ridiculous that sounds—then clearly, it "works" for them. They aren't feeling sick anymore. Whether it was actually the scarf or just a placebo effect in their head doesn't really matter... what matters is that they aren't throwing up, period.
It’s the same thing if someone wants to believe in something—whether it’s red scarves, homeopathy, God, or whatever else—there isn't enough force in the world or enough evidence to convince them otherwise...
So, I honestly don't think these kinds of arguments belong here...

Now you're just talking nonsense!
I don't buy any of that junk myself, so I guess nothing is going to work for me, but hey, if it actually helps someone else, why shouldn't they go for it? 🤷

I’m getting so frustrated that I almost want to wish my own old heartache onto you, just so you can experience it firsthand and realize why someone would try absolutely anything to feel better!

I completely agree with that...
At the same time, I haven't given up hope on finding something that actually works for me, which is why I'm willing to try just about anything. I'd even be willing to try the red scarf thing—maybe I'll end up pleasantly surprised 😁...

I just picked up some ginger tablets at CVS—a pack of 20, $11, they weren't expensive, so I have nothing to lose...
If those don't work, I'll move on to homeopathic remedies or magnetic bracelets and see what happens (personally, I don't believe they do anything, but I'm going to try them anyway)...

If I actually started singing, the fish would probably die from sheer misery 😂 🤣... and let's be real, I'm way too clumsy for rowing 🤣 😬... besides, the boat has a motor (which, okay, doesn't always work, but let's not get bogged down in the details), so there's really no need to row anyway...

Hey, I finally tracked down those bracelets - link
So, looks like that 😢 idea was a total bust... there's just no saving me now 🙂 🙂 🙂

Nathan Gomez8 said:Are you taking the entire tablet at once? You might want to consider starting with just half. It likely wouldn't feel quite as overwhelming, yet it should still be effective.

I take the whole thing because...

I actually need it for my trip to the coast... my partner has a boat, and we want to head out further than the local beach every day to find some peace and quiet away from the crowds, but my motion sickness is a serious issue. That boat rocks so much that I feel dizzy even after I step off. Even when I lie down in bed later, the room keeps spinning.👎
And I really don't want to be popping Dramamine every single day.🤷..

Anyway, thanks.😉
Motion sickness while driving in Health ·
I get motion sickness in just about every type of vehicle—cars, trains, ferries, boats, planes... honestly, a bicycle is the only thing that works for me 😬...

Whenever I have to travel, I end up taking Dramamine, but it just completely knocks me out and I spend the whole trip sleeping. Even after I finally arrive at my destination, I still feel totally drugged for the rest of the day and just want to nap constantly... so, Dramamine isn't exactly a winning solution for me
.
Has anyone heard of those magnetic bracelets? Do they actually do anything, and where can I even find them
?
Or maybe there's something else out there? Pills, supplements, anything? Just as long as I don't spend the entire day passed out
...
thanks

Ashley Fox84 said:Sorry, maybe I generalized a bit too much there without meaning to. Maybe it just depends on the hospital you go to—it's great if you managed to get everything handled by exactly who you wanted (I'm not sure where you were treated), but personally, I ended up bleeding out and arguing with half the staff just to make sure seven different doctors weren't running circles around me. I just wanted one person to handle the whole thing.

Look, I was talking specifically about the local community hospital. I didn't have a specific doctor in mind because I don't actually know anyone or have any recommendations. I just asked how to book an appointment. They told me that only Dr. Smith takes bookings, so I scheduled with him. He did the exam, set the surgery date, and performed the operation himself 🤷 — basically, he handled every single step. I had zero interaction with any other doctors (well, except for when they 😬)
Every day, two doctors are working in the outpatient clinic, but only Smith handles the scheduling. With the others, you just show up and wait. This way, you can actually see Doctor XY if that's who you specifically want. There’s really no chance they're going to force you to see some doctor you don't want...
Keep in mind, I'm strictly talking about my experience at the community hospital. I can't speak for any other hospitals.

Ashley Fox84 said:I think when you go to a public hospital, you don't really get a say in who treats you; they just assign you whoever is available. Even if you manage to get an exam with a specific doctor, there’s still no guarantee that they’ll be the one actually performing your surgery.
And honestly, regardless of who your primary care physician is, I doubt you could pull off getting enough referrals for ENT specialists just to shop around and compare doctors. It's tough luck...

That’s just flat-out wrong.
In the US, you pick your doctor, call the hospital, and ask if they're taking appointments with them. If they are, you're set. If not, you just take whatever slot works within their schedule. Once that doctor examines you and puts you on the surgical list, they are the ones operating on you—it isn't some random tenth person stepping in.
Sure, things happen—like a surgeon getting sick or something—but that's an outlier, not the standard procedure.
Thickened uterine lining: what should I expect? in Women's Health ·
My mom is going through menopause right now (she's 52). Her OB-GYN told her that her uterine lining is thickened—measuring at 8.2 mm—and said it looks pretty suspicious. She just had an endometrial biopsy done and they sent the sample off for testing. Now we’re stuck waiting a week for the results, and honestly, we are all losing our minds with anxiety 🙂... My mom hasn't had a period in almost two years, and I read somewhere that the main symptom of uterine cancer is bleeding, which she isn't experiencing. I think I'm just trying to comfort myself, but the truth is I am absolutely terrified. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? In my head, it makes sense that women in menopause might have a thicker lining since they aren't having periods and there's no shedding 🤷, but I'm definitely not an expert here... Clearly, this thickening shouldn't be happening 😕... What else could cause this? I just really hope it isn't anything malignant 🙂 🙂

I have a few questions regarding septoplasty combined with rhinoplasty
1. How long is the typical hospital stay?
2. On which day do they remove the nasal packing, and honestly, how much does that actually hurt?
3. How long will I need to take medical leave from work?
4. About how long does it take for the bruising around the eyes to clear up?
I realize everyone heals differently, but I'm just looking for some kind of average timeframe.
