How to get rid of smelly feet? in Health ·
Dennis Miller, I don't know why you're attacking her; if you actually bothered to read closely, you'd realize we aren't dealing with poor hygiene here, but rather a different issue entirely that several of us are experiencing.
As for the quality and that supposed plastic feel, I paid a premium for both my boots and my shoes, and let me be clear: they are genuine leather, not some cheap synthetic, so they shouldn't be reacting this way under any circumstances, yet somehow, it happens.
But Angela Wright, that is actually solid advice—if I ever find myself purchasing a pair like these again. 😉

I possess a pair of similar ballet flats myself, though I have certainly owned boots in the past as well. Truth be told, almost nothing seems to offer any real relief; however, I found that applying Lush foot powder—which I was quite fond of—was somewhat effective, even when I applied a generous amount directly into my shoes rather than just onto my feet. In any case, I find the Lush formula far superior to anything from Dr. Scholl's. While it isn't exactly cheap, the sheer volume provided in that little container is impressive, especially considering I have been using the same jar for two years now.
Ultimately, while it doesn't solve the issue entirely, things are slightly more manageable.

This is far too generalized to be useful.
Then we have this particular study, though one must urgently point out that the research was commissioned directly by the police, which introduces a staggering array of potential biases if an investigator enters the fray with preconceived notions or—more cynically—is motivated by a hefty federal grant. Furthermore, the report discusses mere correlation rather than establishing any actual cause and effect.

And then there is this.

While such a scenario remains theoretically possible, the evidence provided is laughably insufficient. Those who eventually find themselves associated with these events are almost exclusively those tainted by flawed methodology or those who have simply leveraged excessive media exposure to manufacture credibility. One should never take these claims at face value without extreme skepticism.🙂

A recent study proved it; they simply don't have it. They lean on "tradition" and hearsay, yet they claim to possess a foresight they clearly lack. They step outside, look up at the full moon, and declare that things are going to go to hell—as if this particular night holds some special capacity for chaos compared to any other mundane evening.
Go find some actual statistical data first, and then you can try to make an assertion. 😬

The idea that a lunar eclipse is somehow causative remains entirely unproven. While I personally find eclipses quite captivating, this particular brand of pseudoscience is exhausting. There is a massive difference between suggesting that walking around a local landmark nine times during a full moon might grant you some sort of mystical insight, and making the baseless claim that the celestial event physically alters human behavior—a claim that merely creates a self-fulfilling prophecy where people lose sleep simply because they've been told they will.
Just look at this example, though I am certain there are plenty more out there; frankly, I lack the patience to hunt them down myself.

I am being entirely serious here. Go ahead, try me. Perhaps the root of your issue lies elsewhere entirely. And, as I have already pointed out, invest in some blackout curtains; nights with a full moon are significantly brighter than most, and that could very well be the genuine culprit behind your insomnia.
Full Moon tonight in Health ·
The full moon isn't actually occurring until 3:40 tomorrow afternoon; regardless, it certainly wasn't full yesterday, as it was still in its waxing phase, much as it is currently. Consequently, your initial premise is fundamentally flawed.
Scientific research suggests that the full moon exerts no tangible influence on human behavior—at least not regarding sleep patterns or crime rates. It is far more likely that you simply notice when the moon appears "full" (even if your timing is off by a day or two) and subconsciously convince yourself that sleep will elude you tonight, even if it doesn't. Alternatively, you might just happen to have a restless night and coincidentally notice the moon is full, while conveniently forgetting all those times you couldn't sleep when the moon was anything else, or perhaps you simply overemphasize the frequency of sleepless nights during a full moon because they stick in your memory more vividly.
I personally struggle with incredibly vivid, unsettling dreams, yet I track the lunar cycles, which leads me to believe this is merely a product of expectation; furthermore, I always find the issue lies with the volume of light, which is what actually triggers these erratic dreams.
What is the solution? Invest in some high-quality blackout curtains, stop staring at the sky incessantly, and tell yourself firmly that the moon holds no power over you. If you truly wish to prove this to yourself, every single time insomnia strikes, log it in a planner or a calendar, and after a few months, review the lunar phases. You will see there is no correlation whatsoever. Just drink some cocoa and eat some Pop-Tarts. 🙂

Anyone else's thoughts on weed? in Health ·
Listen, you can develop an addiction to just about anything, even the most trivial little things. Don't go fooling yourself. People are hooked on the internet constantly—I’m right on the edge of it myself 😁
And honestly, if you're just smoking occasionally, I'm not entirely sure how one would even classify that level of dependency, but let's move past that minor point.
Anyway, I once had a boyfriend who opted for weed over cigarettes for twenty-five straight years, and I have a friend who is perpetually high. As much as I personally detested their habit, neither of them ever seems to deal with hangovers or side effects while they're using it; the real issues only manifest once they actually try to quit. So... as long as you're dealing with the comedowns and clearly reacting to the substance, everything seems fine. It's when they stop that you should actually start worrying. 😉
As for trying to manage the struggle however you see fit—it's worth noting that a warm, sugary milkshake does the trick for me. Though, heaven knows what might work for you.
It's a shame I couldn't offer you some more concrete advice, and frankly, it baffles me that no one else is coming forward with these exact same struggles. 😕

I wouldn't go as far as blaming the low quality of our local weed; I recall having a similar experience back when I was in Amsterdam without a single drop of alcohol involved. The quality wasn't poor—far from it—but by the following morning, I felt as though Snow White, the seven dwarfs, and every other woodland creature were staging a violent assault on my skull. That said, the paintings at the Van Gogh Museum were absolutely breathtaking 🤣
In my estimation, no one can hand you a foolproof hangover cure; either you attempt to mix some concoction that might trigger a reaction, or you simply stop smoking altogether.
Furthermore, I am uncertain of your consumption habits, but once you have been smoking for a sufficiently long duration, your body will cease to treat the substance as an intruder, effectively eliminating the hangover.
And please, refrain from shouting at your old family doctor; the man genuinely only wants what is best for you 😉
I'm about to relapse, please help! in Psychology ·
George Ramirez11 herself mentioned that weaning off methadone worked fine for her, though the real struggle kicks in down the road. I’m in no position to recommend a rehab center—I don't trust their methods at all—but my advice is to get back on the methadone, cling to your social worker like your life depends on it until she secures you a decent psychologist or psychiatrist (I suspect you’ve dealt with Sakoman before, and frankly, he is someone I would highly recommend), and simply refuse to budge.
The cold truth is that absolutely none of the advice being thrown around here will mean a damn thing until you make the decision yourself. Once you finally commit and build a foundation, once you find a support system to stand behind you, even that tea someone suggested might actually do something. 😉
Furthermore, letting your child stay with their grandmother for a while while you try to get your life together isn't a bad idea; no matter how much you love that little one, right now is the time to save yourself, because that is the only way you will ultimately save them.
And again—be relentless. Tell them you can do this and insist upon it. When you need help, throw your pride out the window, forget everything else, and beg if you have to; it is the only way you will actually be there to watch your child grow up.
Moreover, if you truly believe you are being a great mother right now, you won't be able to claim that title in a few years if you keep going down this path. And do you really want your little one to end up in the foster care system?
Come on, you can do this. I am wishing you every bit of luck. 👍

Well... I realize this might seem blindingly obvious, but... have you actually considered trying to quit smoking? 😬
I can't say I ever truly experienced it myself, unless I was mixing it with a bit of bourbon. 😎
In those instances, a very hearty breakfast would usually do the trick in the morning—perhaps some cocoa or even a rich hot chocolate. Generally speaking, something sweet, steaming, and thick.
Good luck to you. 😬
Ingrown toenail help! in Health ·
Honestly, I’ve tried plucking them myself at least twice, but they just keep growing back like nothing happened. I don't exactly have a budget set aside for professional manicures or pedicures—though, truth be told, it's more about finding the time than the money—so I just tackle the whole mess alone at home 😁. I usually settle in with a heavy pour of bourbon, some gauze, a pair of sharp tweezers, and Bivacin. It hurts, quite frankly, it's downright nasty, but what can you do? Every few months, I find myself facing this exact same ordeal all over again 😲
Laparoscopy experiences? in Health ·
Thanks, Angela Wright. Honestly, looking at everything, I’m starting to think I should just head over to Holy Spirit; I can't decide whether to schedule myself at Petrov based on where I live or if I should just try to blink my way through this whole ordeal with a smile...
I have to say, after hearing everyone's horror stories about Petrov, the mere mention of that hospital gives me the chills. 😲
Ugh, I have a massive phobia of anything involving the rectal area—I suppose I had some issues during my anal stage😁—so the idea of an enema absolutely terrifies me, though I suppose I'll just have to power through it. 😁
By the way, are you still dealing with those intense cramps, or did they finally let up once the underlying cause was removed?
Sigh, it isn't even the procedure itself that scares me; it's the thought of being stuck lying in a hospital bed that honestly makes me want to burst into tears. 🙂
Laparoscopy experiences? in Health ·
Thanks, ladies... I’m just wondering where you all ended up, because I’m looking at finishing my care at Mayo Clinic, and frankly, I have no idea which doctors I need to avoid at all costs. I refuse to tolerate subpar treatment—I’d sooner lose my mind than accept anything less than excellence, lest we end up with 😁
@ wiredpuma5—when did you undergo your laparoscopy?
Laparoscopy experiences? in Health ·
Here we go again. I sincerely apologize to anyone who finds this repetitive, but I am struggling to find any coherent or meaningful experience to draw from here.
Since I’m dealing with endometriosis, they’re preparing to surgically remove the lesions, which means I’m headed in for a laparoscopy. I feel as though I have researched almost every conceivable detail, yet one question remains stubbornly unanswered—exactly how long will they insist on keeping me hospitalized? If the recovery period turns out to be extensive, I might just 🙂
Furthermore, has anyone actually managed to navigate the prep process without undergoing a full enema, relying solely on laxatives and a strict diet?
And for those of you currently living through this (if there are any of you out there), once you had the endometriosis removed, did it ever return? If it did, what was the timeframe?
Good grief, I really am such a neurotic mess 🙂
Anyway, where have you all been, and what has your experience been like with your doctors?
My thanks to everyone who takes the time to respond 🙏 🙏
