Nobody really knows him. Unless you've actually run into him, he’s basically a ghost. 😍 I opened this thread because I’m fresh out of half-baked theories. Maybe someone here has an idea that can actually get me on the right track.
They show people pictures of faces and they have to guess the gender.. and turns out women are actually faster and more accurate at spotting male faces...
It’s not even a choice (go read the thread if you don't believe me :P), and it's just certain people advertising it—you can't paint the whole population with the same brush... In America, gay people actually have to hide more than people with schizophrenia...
If you've got schizo, you can just stay on your meds and be fine, and nobody even notices. Or you can claim you're cured. But if you're gay, you're gay. There's no "moving the needle" there...
Angela Morgan3 said:You say "with all due respect to people who are ill," which sounds so hypocritical to me. Your message clearly shows you're discriminating against people with schizophrenia, yet you mention having "due respect." Sadly, that's just how society works—we claim to have "due respect" formally, but in practice, we'd rather just lock those people away behind four walls so nobody even has to think about them. Nobody actually feels empathy for the ill, for instance, being gay is a personal identity, whereas people don't choose to be sick—but somehow, the gay population (who openly advocate for their sexual orientation) faces less discrimination than people with schizophrenia, who are basically at the bottom of the barrel in groups that society marginalizes, like gay people, HIV+ individuals, and so on. Plus, they have to hide and feel ashamed of being ill,
So, let’s start a thread about what kind of person someone with a mental illness would want to date. 😍 I’m going with satire 😂
Seriously though, what’s even the point in attacking people? A person has their own views, they're being honest, and that’s that. There’s zero room for judging here..
It’s honestly just sad how much more prone people with mental health struggles are to prejudice compared to everyone else...
If they're dealing with scleroderma—I'd have zero issues 😍
And about schizo... if we're looking at how common these things actually are (like, schizo is only around 1% of the population), everyone would be on their own if we just played the odds. Doesn't matter if it's environmental or genetic...
We really need to dig deeper into the neuro side of this. We should be tracking how brain function shifts under the influence of specific substances, hypnosis, or even just altered states of consciousness.
I haven’t stumbled across much research doing exactly that. Honestly, the answers are probably out there if you just start connecting the dots between studies that look at these ideas individually...
For instance, I can't find many studies actually comparing meditation to hypnotic trance from a neurological standpoint. But since both topics get plenty of individual attention, you could easily find the overlaps...
The gold standard would be an experiment where you track the same subject through all of it.
Nah, I’m talking about altered states of consciousness and how you perceive things... but that’s way outside the code of conduct so there probably isn't any 😛
Yeah, and the fact that a placebo can pull off similar results just proves people can hit those same marks without needing any psychoactive junk in their system...
Sure, they're testing intelligence, but let's be real—it’s not like it's some make-or-break factor. It's more about checking if someone can actually function on a basic level rather than meeting some rigid standard. Honestly, it feels like a total formality.
I’m not here to act like some professional, so I’ll just give it to you straight 🙂
Anyway, back to the point... everything's already been said. The outcome depends on a ton of external and internal factors, so that single result doesn't mean squat...
And honestly, that psychologist's comment could have been anything. Who knows what was actually going through her head? People crank out those tests so fast and so automatically that you never really know what they're thinking...
Kyle Lee7 said:It seems like medical doctors don't really have the training to measure intelligence properly, and many aspiring psychologists fail to realize that an IQ test and a general knowledge quiz are two completely different animals. To put it plainly, if someone can't tell whether the person administering a test is a physician or a psychologist—which, let's face it, at least 90% of people couldn't distinguish—that doesn't say a single thing about their actual intelligence. Furthermore, I personally feel it’s quite unprofessional for those in the mental health field, whether they are future psychologists or therapists, to belittle people in such a condescending manner.
The difference is doctors aren't even allowed to do it. But being clueless... when you see future psychologists who think they can "cure" homosexuality, nothing surprises me anymore...
Quincy:
Basically, if the girl doesn't even know if the person running the test was a doctor or a psychologist (which 90% of people wouldn't know anyway),
Got a source?
Quincy:
I also think it's out of line for (future?) psychologists or therapists to talk down to people like that.
Sometimes you gotta knock people down a peg so they actually start thinking straight and realize what's going on. Take her, for example—since she thinks asking who conducted the test is "harassment," maybe she needs a reality check in the same way. Then maybe she'll realize it was asked for a reason: because the results might be garbage if some incompetent hack ran the test... right?

I honestly don't understand what we are even supposed to say to you. Your IQ seems quite low, I suppose, since driver's license exams are designed for people who are below average, rather than just average. Maybe try taking some tests on the Mensa website; perhaps then you might realize you were simply having an off day. And if you aren't, well, it doesn't matter. Social and emotional intelligence seem much more important for life than the "pure" kind they measure.
Nah, redharbor9 just hasn't cured his allergy to people who assume everyone knows what they're thinking and then expect anyone to take them seriously😍
