It’s been ages since I checked out MFF, honestly can't even remember when. 😁 ...btw, really solid movie...that scene where they all get caught red-handed is unforgettable. 😬 ...

...And if I can jump in, I’ll add just one thing: at the very least, a movie should offer some level of hedonistic pleasure—meaning the person watching it actually enjoys themselves. That alone would be something. Even if a film were stripped down to nothing more than pure entertainment, it would at least be fun. However, this whole approach of hoarding totally negates even that, in my opinion. It's no longer about enjoying what you see; it’s just about watching so you can list it later—or, even worse, buying it just so you can own it and add it to a collection. Sadly, there's no escaping this mindset entirely (I mean, if I watch two movies today from two different eras, with two different styles, directors, and sensibilities, how much attention can I really give to either?), but it's a shame we're amplifying that exact behavior
Truth. This tiny corner of the internet is the perfect example of that... though I have to admit, I don't really get the "checkbox" mentality myself. What does it even mean to "watch" a movie? Is the goal just having functioning eyeballs? When you sit down to swap ideas, you want to talk about what that piece of celluloid actually did to your soul. Honestly, I’d much rather talk to someone who's seen five movies but actually has an opinion, rather than some zombie rattling off a list of everything they watched since yesterday.
Look, Leigh, that’s just his whole vibe. I don't think he ever actually filmed anything by the book—at least not among the heavy hitters. As far as I recall, the standard advice was always to have a rough blueprint and then just roll with whatever happens. Besides, if you look at almost any other field, hardly anyone is actually qualified to improvise (even when it makes sense). It's like they say: learn the rules so you actually know how to break them. :-) At the end of the day, though, the results are all that matter. ...As for ABC, the issue is they've started mimicking Fox instead of the other way around.

Haha, so this is psychology, right? I’m curious how it actually works... what matters more, the subtitles or the dialogue? The plot or the chapter? Character development or the textbook definition? The cinematography or the messy prose in a book? ... But unfortunately for you all, these massive questions regarding the future of cinema and the future of a young American psych major remain purely speculative. Back to hitting play on my movie.😬
I’m leaving this thread open just so I can figure out one thing (honestly, how selfish can you be? It's like someone's secretly hoping there'll be a street festival today where they can throw eggs and tomatoes at people) which legendary exam was passed with a movie playing in the background on the very first try... .... Actually, let me just say my favorite way to watch anything is while I'm out walking. I just pop on channel 9 and head out the door... I've already "watched" some of my all-time favorites that way a few times...
Man, look at all these new threads popping up... It’s like I'm supposed to blast Kane while I'm scrubbing floors and listen to Tarkovski while I fix the water heater...:rolajz:
I mean, honestly, you have to consider the sheer concept of filmmaking. Everything you watched could have easily turned out completely different, even if it feels like destiny. Plus, we all know Lars is just out of his mind. 😁
Just finished watching 'Letters from Iwo Jima'... honestly, it missed the mark for me. Something about the whole thing feels off—way too many clichés and plot resolutions that just don't land. I caught the trailer for 'Flags of Our Fathers' while I was at it, and now I'm seriously doubting if I'll even bother watching that one.
I honestly don't get how this role is supposed to top his performance in The Departed. How? ...Anyway, the movie is a pass for me... there are some great moments (mostly the "kid stuff") but they get buried under mountains of filler... it’s too long, too much of everything, just way too much... what a brilliant review... and man, the political correctness is enough to make you lose it, just so nobody accidentally gets offended... though I guess we won't see Washington or London setting up specific departments just to pay for Africa... Zwick just lacks guts, plain and simple... not that I understand which demographic the diamond critics are trying to hit, but whatever... Puff Daddy is definitely going to be sweating bullets after watching this. on the bright side, there's Jennifer Connelly :-)
honestly, we don't really have 😬 ... just wanted to wish you all a happy holiday season :-) ... best wishes from me and Lionel Messi ... (she'll probably be back any second to spam even more 😍 smileys ) .... ....🙂
Look at this guy. I've been following this since the Stone Age, and now he thinks he's finally arrived... besides, if you dive in for even a month, there's plenty more to see, rather than everyone just adding stuff to their watchlist a hundred times over 🙂 🙂 ... ....it's pathetic 😢 Nothing until the end of the 12th!! 🙂 🙂
