Even the advertising didn't yield any results whatsoever. 😠 Absolutely nothing. Thanks a lot. I guess I'll just go hunt some zombies now. 😠
Any delivery services open today (on Christmas)? in Miscellaneous ·
Washington, D.C., near Rudeš. Just a hungry girl, miles away from home 🙂
There has to be some kind of food delivery service operating right now. It simply must 😠 I have an entire mountain of coupons here, but honestly, forget it—even McDonald's is closed 😱
Oh please, if you happen to know a number, just share it. 🙂
Sometimes it happens that acquaintances who pick up on my easygoing nature 😍 and how much I tend to let things slide start to (subconsciously) mess with me, pushing my buttons just to see where the limit is. They get completely out of hand. It’s such typical, primal behavior—this instinctual urge to bully someone perceived as "softer." And what am I supposed to do? I usually just fire back with some self-deprecating joke, though I make sure to take a little swipe at them too, just to keep things even. Either way 🤮 I always end up baffled by it all and I lose my temper, even though I know deep down that this kind of friction is just part of being 😁

Maybe what worries me most is feeling like I have to act overly sexual or flirtatious just to be noticed; honestly, I find it quite difficult to carry on a normal conversation with an attractive man—or even men in general—if I feel that pressure to perform. 😂

Oh, wow... so you were actually trying to be flirtatious with those two married couples?😁
Joshua Evans7 said:😁I guess I’ll jump in here too.....😍
I was actually going to write a much longer post, but I decided to keep it short and just start with a question.😢Just a little intro to get things started😍)
I don't usually have any trouble hanging out with friends, or even meeting new people, but right at this moment, my parents are hosting two married couples and I feel like I'm going to freeze up if I actually have to talk to them. My folks are just sitting there watching me😲 while I'm fumbling around like I'm the shyest person on the planet—even though my friends would probably tell you otherwise.
I wonder if it's because being around my parents makes me drop all my usual defenses, haha. It's not like they know everything about me (though their birthday gifts usually prove they know more than I think!), but parents just have this weird way of seeing right through you...
Or maybe it's something else? I should mention that my communication style with guys changes when my parents are around—if someone is cute, I might actually get flustered and run back to my room like a little kid... even though in reality, I'm totally fine talking to guys and I'm generally quite social. I consider myself confident, though I suppose that fluctuates depending on the day.
Writing this out actually makes me feel a bit better already, almost a little more empowered...
Anyway, here are a few more random life snippets so you can "evaluate" me, haha. When I took that personality disorder quiz a while back, I apparently scored somewhat high on narcissism and histrionics (if I remember correctly...)
I'm definitely social, but also a bit of a lone wolf, blah, blah... so that's my first letter to you all. I hope I'm enough of a challenge. haha. bye!😉

Are you seeking parental approval and feeling like they're judging you while you talk to others, causing you to withdraw inward so you don't disappoint them?😁

wiredtiger10 said:Look, if nobody posts anything about this movie by tomorrow night, I’m seriously gonna make my niece eat half a pound of her own warm diaper crap.

Wait, what do you mean, "your niece"?

Anyway, I had every intention of catching this masterpiece at the Sundance Film Festival, but I just couldn't make the timing work, so I ended up downloading it and I literally just finished watching it... 🙂 God, those teenage filmmakers are absolute trash!!!! My hands are actually shaking right now 🙂 I don't even know, I can't quite put it into coherent words... It’s just a good, devastating film.. The ending was somewhat predictable, I guess..

cosmicowl50 said:I suppose that kind of behavior would be perfectly acceptable for animals, but if my understanding of human evolution holds up—and I guess it mostly does—we’re supposed to be at a much more advanced stage of development, aren't we? Well, that is, assuming we aren't talking about certain primitive types out there... and honestly, forgive me for even grouping your mother into that category, but unfortunately, there are just so many of them wandering around these days.

Look, I’m not exactly trying to be her defense attorney here, but I’ve known her long enough to know she was just speaking out of pure, unadulterated panic—you know, that split second where you're terrified that your kid might be different or "off" in some way. Honestly, that kind of paralyzing fear is probably a whole separate conversation for a therapist to unpack, I guess. 😁

Gerald Scott4 said:Nobody needs to sign off on it. Honestly, our laws have absolutely zero logic left in them.

Look, could you please just drop a link to the specific section of the law you're talking about? I’ve been digging around through the legal codes and I honestly haven't found anything even remotely similar to what you're claiming, so it's starting to feel like we might just be dealing with a bunch of hearsay at this point. I mean, even if it were true, the whole thing sounds absolutely insane—honestly, even by the standards of our American judicial system, that would be a total stretch. 🤷
Not wanting kids: Is it just me? in Psychology ·
As far as I can gather regarding the current laws here in the States, you can opt for voluntary sterilization once you hit 35, or if you’re under 35, it’s usually only an option if your life is at risk or there's some serious genetic issue involved, or something along those lines. I suppose nobody else needs to sign off on it, unless, of course, the person isn't deemed mentally competent, in which case their legal guardians step in. Your husband doesn't get a say in the matter at all. 🤷

I recently sat my parents down and told them straight up that I don't want kids—and honestly, I have no idea if I'll ever change my mind—and my mother just snapped back with, "Well then, you might as well not live!" 🤣

Tunnel Rats - a short film. It’s convincingly claustrophobic, I suppose, though perhaps a bit too predictable for my taste.

Zift - Fun, witty, and straightforward; it feels like something crafted specifically for the common man.

Has anyone by any chance actually sat down and watched this? I can't quite tell if it’s just all style and no substance, or if there might actually be some sort of soul behind the visuals.
It looks pretty tempting, I guess.😍
Masters of Horror in Movies ·
I’ve sat through the first five episodes now, and I have to say, I’m just not feeling it. It isn't anything catastrophic, per se, but there's zero tension and it lacks any real grit or brutality. If I had to pin down why, the whole concept feels a bit derivative, almost like those later X-Files episodes you'd see after Mulder left the show. 😛

Chris Peterson53 said:"They lived a beautiful life"—you hear people say that about someone, whether they’re still around or long gone.
Whenever I hear that phrase, it triggers this subconscious reflex to audit my own existence. And every single time, I have to tell myself: No, mine hasn't been "beautiful" by any stretch of the imagination. Not since childhood. It’s been a constant grind—survival, education, a relentless string of setbacks, living through wartime instability, the volatile highs and lows of finances, a failed marriage, and spending years looking after people who frankly didn't do me any favors. There was precious little love to go around, while the struggle and the caretaking were endless.
Despite all that, I don't walk around feeling miserable. Instead, I just feel this quiet sense of melancholy when I reflect on how much I was shortchanged. But then again—was I actually shortchanged? Or am I just being cynical?
To balance the scales, I do feel lucky. I have my kids, I have a roof over our heads, and while our lifestyle is relatively modest, we’re stable for now. We live peacefully, side-by-side.
Still, there’s this nagging little voice in the back of my head. It starts gnawing at me whenever I see people who never had to lift a finger—people who seemingly had everything handed to them on a silver platter (and I’m not just talking about money). It makes me wonder: what exactly is the intended definition of a "beautiful life"?
Is it just accepting things as they are?
Is it resigning yourself to "fate"?
Is it giving your absolute all, only to accept that others are simply doing better?
Or is it finding contentment in your own small wins, even if they look insignificant compared to everyone else's?
What do you all think about this concept of a "beautiful life"??

Honestly, when I hear stuff like that, it just makes me feel physically nauseous. It’s like saying, "Well, they had a good run, so it doesn't really matter that they kicked the bucket."
Ugh, I just can't stand funerals and all that performative nonsense people pull at them.🤷
What is social intelligence? in Psychology ·
Walter Myers4 said:Good grief, I totally overdid it.
I mean, obviously, it’s a blast filming yourself just to see if anyone's watching—assuming you don't have anything actually productive to do with your life, anyway. 🤣

Honestly, we could probably just split the entire population into two main camps (unless someone else has already done the math):
1. Introverts (they couldn't care less about social dynamics and wouldn't notice if they were being stared at by some attractive guy/girl) and
2. Extroverts (social dynamics are their whole world; they've basically mastered the art of catching someone else's eye)
😁

I'm not entirely convinced that every single introvert is completely oblivious to being watched... personally, I definitely fall into the introvert camp because the idea of being the center of attention makes me want to crawl under a rock, and when I'm walking down the street, I'm usually lost in my own thoughts, staring at nothing and ignoring everyone, and honestly, my absolute nightmare is running into someone I know on the subway and being forced into small talk—usually, I’ll just hop off at the next stop to escape😳 but, well, when I actually head out to a Starbucks or a pub with my friends, I absolutely notice the stares, mostly because I'm not stuck inside my own head anymore; I'm actually engaging with people, so my focus shifts toward the "prey," if you will😍 though, I suspect the guy who started this thread might actually be thinking about something else entirely even when he's out with his buddies (since he seems way more preoccupied with whatever internal drama he's dealing with than the need to "rate" women nearby), so he's really just physically present there... and I'd bet he isn't even contributing much to the conversation. If he's looking for love, maybe he should try hanging out at a philosophy lecture instead; he'd probably have better luck finding a soulmate there than at some random bar😉
Are vegetarians actually smarter? in Psychology ·
The data shows that vegetarians clock in at an average IQ of 106, while meat-eaters sit at 101; furthermore, vegetarian women averaged 104, compared to 99 for non-vegetarian women.

What I find particularly unsettling, though, is how they completely failed to draw the obvious conclusion that men might actually be more intelligent than women 🤣
