Pubic hair removal advice? in Women's Health ·
It’s probably best to go see a gynecologist because vulvitis can be triggered by bacteria or even a nasty allergic reaction. I’ve never experienced swelling quite that intense from a yeast infection.

That sounds like it could be vulvitis, which can actually stem from several different causes. If I were in your shoes, I’d make an appointment with a gynecologist as soon as possible.

You might be dealing with a more aggressive yeast infection, especially if you've recently finished a course of antibiotics.

Couldn't they have scheduled you sooner? I'm worried the same thing might happen to me. I'm currently in the UK, and here you have to see a general practitioner first before they refer you to the hospital to see Ginić. With Christmas and New Year's coming up, I have a feeling I won't get seen until January.
Fingers crossed it's nothing. x
Ovaries: Cysts and related issues [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Lately, I've been feeling this constant pressure, specifically around my left ovary. It isn't a sharp or stabbing pain, just a heavy sensation, almost like there's a stone sitting there. Occasionally, I also get some bloating in that general area, near the ovaries and bladder. I’m waiting for my appointment with the gynecologist, but I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with similar symptoms. Also, my lower back tends to ache a bit. I am 100% sure I'm not pregnant.
Thanks.
Falling for an ex with an addiction problem in Psychology ·
I was dating someone like that for about six months, maybe a year ago, and to my absolute relief, they ended up behind bars.

But there's some truth to it—it’s more exciting, almost like you get a hit of that heroin-style euphoria from them.

Still, I'll pass.
Skin infection on my hand in Health ·
It’s just a temporary thing for me, and I don't wear it constantly anyway. It isn't limited to just my ring finger, either. It's definitely dyshidrosis.

@Jack Kelly. Just let it go. It comes and goes. Sometimes it flares up more often, and sometimes it stays away longer.

Whatever the cause might be, I have a feeling it's dyshidrosis since it looks exactly like what I'm dealing with in the same spot. You should try this marigold balm; it really works. I applied it for the first time yesterday, and after just a second application today, it's almost completely gone.
Skin infection on my hand in Health ·
That sounds like it might be dyshidrosis. I get flare-ups in that exact same spot between my fingers where the skin is really thin. Thank God mine stays so small and localized; I’ve read stories about people dealing with it all over their palms, fingers, and even the soles of their feet.

When it pops up for me—especially since I wear a ring there—it tends to linger for quite a while. Personally, I find that Pavlovich ointment (from DM) works wonders, and I also swear by that Marigold balm from Walgreens you can find at DM. It's an incredible hand balm. Honestly, it helps everything dry out and heal up really quickly.
Jeans recommendations? in Fashion ·
Yeah, they're good. They're just a little pricey 🙄. Diesel is top-tier stuff. If you spot them on sale somewhere, grab them immediately. I usually pick them up in the UK for about $6, while 7 For All Mankind goes for around $8 at TJ Maxx.
Dealing with painful periods in Women's Health ·
Voltaren Rapid isn't an option for me. As soon as I feel any pain, it's game over. I actually just felt something slip in my throat a few minutes ago.
Today, I thought I’d try to see if I could push through without discomfort, but man, was I wrong. Jesus, nothing works better than how you absolutely wreck my mental state. Every single well-meaning person I hear just sends my blood pressure through the roof. Everything is getting on my nerves to the max. My patience is at an all-time low... and then some.
Just a wish... in Philosophy ·
Desires are perfectly fine, provided they stem from our true selves. If they are driven by misguided or hidden motives, that's when tension and suffering begin to surface.
Candide in Health ·
I was actually able to get Geonist without a prescription. Personally, I think it's the most effective option because it targets those pesky bacteria causing all the trouble. Pairing it with some Canesten cream for external relief works wonders. That said, if this is your first time dealing with these symptoms, it’s probably best to check in with a doctor first.
Also, hygiene is absolutely key. Make sure you're washing regularly, drying off thoroughly, and using a gentle intimate wash. Whenever my symptoms flare up, I make it a point to wash both morning and night.
You might also want to pick up some Lactogyn tablets (they're about $6). These are oral probiotics designed to balance your vaginal flora, and they really do make a difference.
Lastly, try wearing more skirts and stick strictly to cotton fabrics.
Good luck!

I caught them back when they were opening for Nirvana. They were really good.
Flu symptoms in Health ·
I’ve been feeling under the weather since Sunday. I’ve never felt this bad, and honestly, I can't even remember the last time I had the flu. All in all, I have to head into work on Monday, and I have no clue how I'll manage. I can barely sit at my computer for 20 minutes.

I honestly can't deal with all this nonsense anymore—this idea that I'm supposed to just "overcome" my illness or somehow magically start producing insulin on my own.

Don't pay much attention to those people who don't understand complex chemical imbalances in the brain. You're doing just fine.
Skip the meditation and just listen to Rambo Amadeus 😎. It’ll definitely give you a good laugh.

Make sure to find a live performance!

Of course, I see where you're coming from. When I say "clear-headed," I mean being free from intrusive thoughts, hallucinations, and all that other noise.
I’m well aware of what it feels like to be in a fog from medication. I know that heavy, sleepy sensation, but what exactly is the alternative during an acute crisis? Honestly, if you decide to skip your meds for a while, you'll quickly see the consequences. It just becomes one relapse after another.
I definitely agree—it's like having a quick fix where a primary care physician just writes a script and calls it a day (at least that's how it works here in the US). That isn't a long-term solution, but it does give you the stability to live your life, work, and actually enjoy yourself for a bit.

That's true.

I’d actually be curious to know how many people have recovered from schizophrenia without medication—just through sheer willpower or maybe psychotherapy?
I think Dana Brooks3 mentioned once that she knows of some cases.

What you're saying, Blue Bird, isn't really grounded in reality. I know you mean well, but that approach is honestly dismissive of both people living with this disorder and modern medical science.
Telling someone to "get it together" isn't helpful advice for those dealing with severe mental health challenges. As I’ve mentioned before, medication provides a necessary break from unbearable pain and a distorted perception of reality, allowing you to see things more clearly and maintain some perspective.
It's like the old saying about fixing the roof while the Sun is shining. You need clarity to make sound decisions and truly help yourself.
That’s why a combination of medication, psychotherapy, and gradually reshaping your thought patterns is the way to go.
Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
I would honestly never advise anyone to stop taking their medication. In my view, that kind of decision should only be made by the medical professional treating the patient. Based on what I’ve seen, I am a supporter of medication. While some disorders can be managed more easily on one's own, I believe pharmacological treatment is completely justified for more complex conditions like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
I struggled with anxiety and everything that comes with it—panic attacks followed by depression. I managed to overcome it on my own, but it took me two years. Of course, that isn't really comparable to much more severe disorders (even though what I went through was incredibly difficult and awful).

It’s like telling a diabetic they shouldn't take insulin. Just fix your metabolism through sheer willpower.

What helped me was realizing that those thoughts weren't actually "me." I know what it's like when your brain starts functioning that way—but if I get rid of that part of myself, I'll essentially become a different person. Yeah right. Those are just tricks the mind plays on you. It's as if the disorder itself is fighting to survive.

That isn't you. That is something happening to you. Everyone goes through things. Plenty of people deal with all sorts of mental health struggles and issues.

...Just stand in the Sun and the darkness will fade. x
