I’m basically scrubbing everything from my life that messes with my daily flow. Facebook went down for me yesterday.
It’s just... once I manage to decompress a bit, maybe then I’ll crawl back, if I even feel like it. Too much of my life gets sucked up by this stuff.
I just want to get to a point where I can actually hold it together—you know, without feeling the urge to hunt for some replacement for Facebook or this forum. I have a sneaking suspicion that YouTube rabbit holes might end up being the real problem. 🙂
P.s. I didn't realize I needed to say goodbye? But thanks for asking, I guess. 🙂
Just jumping back in here—I’m on the hunt for a solid endocrinologist. Honestly, I don't care if they're private practice or whatever, I just need someone who actually knows what they're doing. So far, everything I've dealt with has been nothing but pure, unadulterated misery. (Dealing with PCOS and adrenal issues, and it's been a total nightmare.)
This absolute garbage has started popping up whenever I browse certain sites—one of them being Reddit
So, I was out for the day, and when I got back, my computer starts freaking out and asking me to confirm stuff. I’ve got antivirus running and Malwarebytes too, and honestly, everything comes back totally clean after a scan.
It doesn't happen on every single site, just specific ones, which sucks because I visit those places all the time. I even tried switching over to Chrome, but it's the same story... though weirdly enough, nothing happens when I'm surfing on my phone, everything seems fine there.
I'm currently using my neighbor's WiFi—he let me use his password—so I guess maybe it could be something on his end?
Can anyone actually explain what the hell is going on here?
Thanks, that’s what I was thinking too—and yeah, I definitely need to get that done so I actually have it ready when things go south.
Somehow, against all odds, the thing actually kicked in. I was messing around in the BIOS—honestly, I have zero clue what I was even doing—toggling stuff back and forth between Windows 7 and Windows 8 settings, just sitting there staring at it until it finally hit where it needed to be.
Anyway, long story short, I have no idea what magic I performed, but it's working now.
Every time I try to run a repair, the whole thing just hangs halfway through and spits out an error saying it failed. Total disaster.
So, like a complete idiot, I’ve been sitting here thinking maybe my only move is to track down some Windows 8 installation media on a USB or a disc from someone... I guess that's the only way out of this mess.
Is there actually a simpler way to fix this without all the extra hassle?
I didn't even realize you guys were here for that reason—but look, if I can't get through to her directly, I'm gonna try every side door and back alley available just to see if there's anything I can actually do
First off, I honestly don't even know if they’d try to strip her of custody—I mean, they aren't exactly known for being eager to tear families apart, if you catch my drift, you know how it goes
Second thing is, who knows how long this whole ordeal is gonna drag on? And the kicker is, I’m the one stuck footing the bill for the evaluations... and let me tell you, I am strapped. I've gotta keep my own cash tucked away just in case things go sideways
Thirdly—and this is the big one—I really don't want to lose her
The reason I’m even asking around here is because you guys actually get it—you know what this illness is really like—so maybe you could suggest some kind of approach or something that actually worked for you, something that helped you stay afloat or feel a bit better, so I can try it out with her
She’s got the prescription, sure, but who on earth is actually going to force her to take the injection???
She’s flat-out refusing treatment—I’m heading over to see her primary care physician tomorrow to try and figure something out.
But honestly, it doesn't even matter if she has the therapy prescribed; I think she got one shot maybe once every three weeks along with some pills, but if she won't show up for follow-ups or actually take the meds, there isn't much anyone can do about it.
It's always been this way—she’s constantly ended up in the hospital because she refuses to sign off on anything regarding her own medical care.
Look, I’m not trying to start some legal battle to have her declared incompetent just so she can be shoved into a nursing home or whatever—honestly, I don't even have the cash for that kind of legal mess
Right now, I'm just trying to figure out how to actually get her to agree to medical treatment.
She’s... well, she’s a handful. Rude, difficult, and honestly, her condition is starting to wreck both her life and her career. She’s already been hospitalized twice in the last eighteen months alone, but it’s a cycle—she settles down for a bit, but since she refuses to take her meds and won't even look at psychotherapy, everything just slides right back into the gutter.
Does anyone out there have some actual advice for those of us living with a family member who has schizophrenia? How do you even approach someone like that? The problem is, they’re flat-out refusing any kind of help or treatment.
Sometimes I honestly just feel like walking away—like, just leaving them behind because dealing with them is becoming impossible—but if I actually do that, they’ll be left completely alone.
Maybe that would honestly be for the best, I don't know.
Who actually prescribed you guys all this medication?
What’s the deal with your therapists' takes on it?
Personally, I’m big on Gestalt and integrative stuff—CBT just isn't really my vibe.
The reason I’m even asking is because seeing everyone talk about meds makes me look back at my own experience, and man...
When I think back to being 19 or 20, the way doctors were basically shoving pills down my throat was honestly insane. It was constant—cranking up the dosage, swapping one thing for another. One doctor even tried to put me on antipsychotics... and I wasn't even that far gone.
Literally just one doctor actually had the decency to tell me I shouldn't be on that kind of stuff at my age. Back then, finding actual psychotherapy in my hometown was impossible, even if you had the cash to pay for it.
Anyway, I was dealing with panic attacks, depression, and anxiety. I spent a year on Prozac and it did absolutely nothing for me. Eventually, I just said "screw this" and started figuring things out on my own. I guess I just had this stubborn streak where I refused to let those drugs wreck my life.
Later on, I finally got into therapy, which helped me realize I wasn't some "bad" or "crazy" person or whatever.
But looking back at those hospital vibes and the endless cycle of prescriptions... it honestly hurts to see people going through the same thing today.
P.S. Real healing comes from therapy, not just a pill bottle.
Hey, I’ve got a question for the group here. How many of you guys actually pair your meds with psychotherapy? If you do, what kind of therapy are we talking about? And if you aren't doing it—why not? Just curious to see how everyone else is playing it.
