nimbleheron47 said:I own a pair of theirs, but the cut is pretty slim and they're low-rise. When I buy low-rise stuff at H&M, I usually go for a 14 too (112 cm hips). But since these DP pants are the only slim-leg ones in my closet, it's hard to make a direct comparison—kind of like comparing apples to oranges. 🤷

The legs are shorter than the H&M ones (and those were the last pair I bought from them).

The rest of my DP clothes feel a little roomier than H&M size 14, though the sleeves tend to run short there, too.

Thanks anyway! 🙂

Do you guys follow any plus size bloggers? I assume there aren't many here in the States, or at least I haven't run into any.

Hey Cure, can anyone help me compare sizing between H&M and Dorothy Perkins? I'm looking at classic black straight-leg trousers. An H&M size 46 fits okay—just a tiny bit snug—but I actually can't get them buttoned. Now I'm stressing about which size to grab from DP. They have a ton of pants on sale right now, plus an extra 25% off.

nimbleheron47 said:Anyway, I think you’d fit right into a standard ASOS line—at least in an 18. 😉(By the way, I have a feeling their regular 18 and "Curve 18" aren't actually the same thing... I read somewhere that Curve 18 runs about two sizes larger than expected, but since I haven't ordered anything myself, I can't say for sure based on experience).

Based on all the shops I use, the closest thing to H&M sizing would be Elvi (which is pretty true to size) and Dorothy Perkins (runs a bit large, but nothing like ASOS)
.
ASOS and New Look definitely have the most generous cuts. Yours Clothing also runs big, though it feels more tailored for apple or pear shapes rather than hourglass figures
.

Exactly. My Asos Curve pants were so huge I practically had to hold them up with both hands just to keep them from falling down. 🤣 Three numbers higher than H&M's 46.

There is one right near my place, but her work is subpar—the foundation shade is incredibly obvious and my eyes ended up looking bruised.

Also, has anyone here worked with the Tavajol and Lokas catering companies (both from San Diego)?

Tamara from the Femme salon in Santa Barbara 🙂 Rade isn't great, Neda isn't either, and the Cvita salon is a pass for me... 😉
😲 Who's doing the teaching, Elvis Presley? 🙄
Classes usually run about 60-$$33 a month and cover the basics, like the waltz. Try looking up some local dance studios and ask the instructors if they can put together a custom choreography session for you guys for a few hours—it shouldn't break the bank. 🙂

Also, let me ask you—roughly how many invites would I need for about 160 people?

It can't hurt to do it early. If you wait too long, you'll always have those people who end up getting annoyed. 😁

The real question is whether you're mostly inviting families (one invite per family), couples (one per pair), or singles (one per person). Roughly speaking, if you split it down the middle, 80 shouldn't be enough, but it's best to just write everything down and count them up manually.

or at least when we can start sending out invitations 🙂

😁 Just share the news as early as you can. At least tell the younger crowd ahead of time—tell the older folks in person first, then send a "formal" invite if you're actually going. Get it done a month or two in advance. Those invitations absolutely wiped me out; I felt like I spent my entire summer just traveling from one house to another. 🙄

Looks are just a matter of taste, I guess. I wanted it to look simple—nothing too flashy or over-the-top.
The flavor? Absolutely incredible!

Interesting point. 🙂 When I was picking out my cake, I knew exactly what flavors I wanted first; the design was just something we figured out later. At the end of the day, nobody is going to rave about a pretty cake if it tastes bad. 😬

I wasn't really impressed by my visit to Whole Foods. ☕ The food was just okay, the staff was fine, nothing special.

Was this your cake—the kind of cake you’d actually want, or were you looking for something else?

Does ANYONE actually know where I can track down diamond monograms—or honestly, just any kind of custom monograms—for cakes???

Something along the lines of this:

HHEEELLLPPP!!

Try eBay. I haven't seen them anywhere around here.

A few girls mentioned that salon before—if I recall correctly, they were pretty happy with it. Your best bet is to just pop the name into the search bar; that'll pull up every thread where it's been brought up. 🙂

I think my hotel mentioned about 5 ounces is the standard for dinner, but honestly, you can just do whatever you want. 🙂 We also did little gift boxes for the cookies—we probably put about two pounds in each box, but I can't quite remember.

We did a big firework show and it was stunning. Not sure about the specifics since it was a gift.

That's right on the edge of $53, don't sweat it 🙂
