I can't make it to my psychologist back home because of my college schedule, so I’m wondering if I can just walk into a clinic in the city where I'm studying? Do I need a formal referral from a doctor first, or can I just show up? I don't really get how any of this insurance and referral stuff works.🤷

692362035 This thread is just another drop in the bucket, a repeat of what’s already been said elsewhere. It isn't quite like we're staring down a seventh consecutive manifesto on weight loss, but still... 🙄

It doesn't hurt anyone, so where's the issue?

Alex Long8 said:well, glucose isn't maltodextrin

Let’s take a quick trip back to elementary school chemistry:

Glucose: C6H12O6
Maltodextrin: C6nH(10n+2)O(5n+1)

It's basically the exact same thing, just in different packaging.😉
If you're looking to pay double for nothing, be my guest.

The brand isn't exactly a household name, but I usually stick to that old mantra: "a protein is a protein." My main concern is how easy it is on the gut. Some of the cheap junk out there—looking at you, MuscleTech—always leaves me with digestive issues. If I had more breathing room in my budget, I’d just order from a premium supplier once and be done with it, because honestly, $83 you aren't going to find anything cheaper than this for a 5lb tub, especially since they've tossed in 5g of BCAA and glutamine. Looking through the forums, people seem to pick up similar stuff from sites like Vitamin Shoppe or Bodybuilding.com. Here, you just shoot them an email with your info and shipping address and call it a day.

I also noticed they have 5kg of maltodextrin for $25, which is wild considering what we pay for a single kilo around here. $27 That price is absolutely insane.

Half a pound of glucose at a place like CVS will run you about $4.00 if I recall correctly, so a full pound is basically $8.00. At 5 times 24, that's $40, which is still less than 25 bucks 😉.

I’ve been hitting the gym for a while now, though it’s always been hit or miss since I’m paying my own way and money can be tight. I’m just getting back into the swing of things after a three-and-a-half month hiatus. The holidays pretty much wrecked my progress—too many beers, BBQs, and sweets, not including 😬—so I’ve put on about six pounds, but it isn't the end of the world...
I took these photos myself, so the angles aren't exactly professional. You can see from the imbalance between my left and right sides in my back and chest that I'm dealing with some spinal issues.
Currently standing 5'7" and weighing around 155 lbs, maybe slightly less

DL 1RM = 220 lbs
Squat 1RM = 220 lbs
Bench 1RM = haven't tested it lately, but probably around 145 lbs
Back, legs, triceps, and shoulders performed cold:

😬

I don't follow this sport closely enough to claim any firsthand expertise, but I spend enough time reading through recommendations and other people's posts... plus, there’s a certain level of basic logic involved, isn't there?

But seriously, what the hell, I just realized they slashed the prices halfway. 😲 I can't believe it—900g for $33, am I losing my mind or something? O_o
It seems incredibly cheap. Does anyone happen to know how much shipping might run?

Look, folks, that 2-3% difference in protein content isn't going to move the needle for you... especially if you're just hitting the gym for fun on the weekends.

At the end of the day, both companies turn out solid products.

Try teaming up with someone else (or just go solo) to order 7 kilos of Pronutrition and you'll get an extra kilo for $45. Normally they go for 170

Should I mix it into a shake or take it separately?

Good grief, try actually reading the post first. 🙄
Yeah, just throw everything into the shaker and add some water.

restlesscanyon77 said:If you’re looking to pick up some glucose, you can find it pretty much anywhere from a local CVS to a specialized supplement shop, though the cost really depends on whether you're buying simple dextrose powder in bulk or just grabbing a pack of glucose tablets at a drugstore. As for whether it's actually necessary, it’s a bit like asking if you need a spare tire; it depends entirely on how you're driving. If you're dealing with specific blood sugar issues or hitting extreme physical limits during a workout, it might be a useful tool in your kit, but for the average person just going about their day, it's often just extra noise. It isn't a magic bullet, and for most, getting your energy from standard food sources is more than enough.

DM, by the pound. $3.75 The box says glucose, and it’s that distinct shade of blue—the one they use when they want you to believe there's some kind of "healthy" advantage baked into the label. If you're looking to actually recover, you really ought to knock back about 60 grams right after your workout. It's basic math, really.

FitnessForum.com said:An ideal post-workout meal should consist of:

* 30 - 50g of MuscleTech protein powder—the exact amount depends entirely on your muscle mass.
* 75 - 120g of maltodextrin or glucose powder.
* 2 - 3dl of water—definitely not milk!.
* 2L of water over the following 2 hours

it’s just a reflection of how much time you spent clicking through random links 🙄
you could probably just dump in more water since that concoction is bound to be syrupy enough as it is

Harold Booth68 said:Roughly how long will a kilogram of whey last if I'm hitting the gym three times a week and keeping my diet on point?

Should I be taking whey every single day, or just on the days I actually lift?

What’s the consensus on MuscleTech proteins? I hear some people swear by them, while others seem pretty skeptical about the quality.

thanks

Just do the math yourself, man.🤦
30g x 3 days a week x 4 weeks = 360g per month.
If you can afford it, just mix it into your breakfast with some oats or rice, or whatever you usually eat...

Joseph Morgan10 said:I'm curious if anyone here has experience with protein supplements. If I stop training for a while, will my muscles just deflate, or am I going to end up gaining weight instead?

Yeah, they will, and you'll probably lose more than just muscle mass.☕
Cut the nonsense and go grab a middle school biology textbook from the local library; just flip through a few pages and educate yourself.

It’s become pretty clear to me that people don't quite grasp that "protein" and "bjelancevina" are just two different ways of describing the exact same thing.
