Rachel Jones8 said:You from NYC?
Rachel Jones8 said:It’s called e-waste, plain and simple.😉
Are you being serious or just messing around? If this isn't for my buddy...
Rachel Jones8 said:If it’s an actual antique... then yeah, it's pricey. Old stuff holds value. 😉
Rachel Jones8 said:Who cares? It's ten years old.

I picked up a new USB adapter and now it’s fine (at least initially)—Wi-Fi works perfectly after sleep mode. I went from three bars to five. 😁
The only thing that still makes zero sense is why the fan shuts off sometimes during sleep and other times doesn't. If I hit sleep immediately, everything cuts out, but if I step away and come back... it's hit or miss.
(I'll switch that hybrid sleep setting back to "on" and see if that's actually the culprit)

Nothing higher than 95W works, so forget the 980 BE or 1100T BE. Plus, this board is garbage and won't let me overclock.
I just want to know if the price jump is worth it. The X6 is about $100, while the X4 is closer to $65. Also, the X6 has that 3.2GHz boost, which the X4 lacks.
Usage: Adobe Photoshop with heavy layers and some gaming (not trying to break world records) for the next year or two.
PS. Don't suggest a new motherboard. I'd rather just buy a whole new system... My Dell $0.00 will be gone in 2 years anyway. Until then, X6 or X4?

graniteharbor85 said:Sure, I can get on that—but the real question is whether they’re actually legit. In my experience, those things are usually the culprit behind 90% of freezes and random crashes. Better double-check.

Intel Q6600 + Zalman 9000 cooler
Asus P5Q-Pro
2x2 DDR2 Kingston
Asus GTX 275
These are leftovers from an old gaming rig of mine. Everything works fine, just sitting here collecting dust. Might be useful to someone.
They were running perfectly until two months ago when I swapped some "new old" parts from my main build into this secondary junker.😁 Because of that, the case, power supply, and drives aren't up for grabs.
Just wondering what kind of price I could ask, or if I should just throw together another pile of parts and sell it as a complete unit. Is there actually any difference or point to it?
Thanks.....

So I'm grabbing the rig at the start of June.
I'll get a new build (probably from Best Buy), likely paying cash 😉
Besides, June isn't that far off. Components aren't going to just vanish into thin air by then.

Great price, plus those XFX DD cards are solid enough.

Crucial 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
Intel Core i5-4460 CPU (3.1 GHz up to 3.3 GHz, Skylake,
1MB/6MB, Socket 1150, 84W), Intel HD Graphics 4600, box
GTX 1050 Ti JetStream, AMD Radeon, GTX 960, PCIe 3.0 x16, 2048 MB,
DDR5, 128-bit, GPU clock 1203 MHz, memory clock 7200 MHz,
DVI-D, DVI-I, 1x Display port, HDMI
ASUS Z97 Motherboard
(S1150, DDR3, HDMI, USB3.0/USB2.0, RAID, LAN, SATAIII) ATX Retail
1TB Hard Drive, 500W Power Supply. I already have the monitor, case, and peripherals, so I just need these parts. Basically, is there anything better in this price range? Total comes out to about $1333 +/- $500 depending on the shop. Wants an Intel base.

Eric Morgan5 said:Look, my PC is basically a dumpster fire right now. First, getting Windows installed was a nightmare. Then, files started going missing. Eventually, I got half my software running, hit restart like it asked, and then... nothing. The machine sounds fine, but it's dead. The CLR/CMOS light on my ASRock board is staying on—happened before, so I just pulled the battery near the RAM sticks to reset it. That worked temporarily, but now Windows is throwing errors about missing files when I try to install GPU drivers. To top it all off, after a reboot, there's no picture. My old Samsung CRT is a beast, so I thought maybe it died, but I plugged in my roommate's LCD and it says "no signal" too.
If anyone has a clue what's going on, let me know.
🙂
Rachel Jones8 said:Do you think there's a chance the new USB Wi-Fi adapter just won't wake up after sleep mode unless I unplug it and plug it back in?
I don't care about hibernation, but this... I shouldn't have to do that every single time the laptop sleeps.
