PC Build under $300 in Desktops ·
Jamie Patel2 said:Not trying to start a whole new thread, just piggybacking off this one 🙂. I'm thinking about picking up a case for under $1000, and since I've never actually built a PC before, I might just buy a pre-built. I'm torn between these two options: http://www.newegg.com/p/example1 http://www.newegg.com/p/example2 . This rig will be my everything—gaming, installing stuff, you name it. So, should I grab one of these ready-made ones or try my luck building it myself?

noticeably better than a 4850 DDR3

on eDigital, 99% of stuff is in stock🙂, plus they offer free shipping on everything$333 over

.

That "99% in stock" thing is total BS.
A buddy from work waited two months for RAM until he finally lost his mind and threatened to call the Better Business Bureau... then suddenly, they had it delivered in two days.

I wasn't planning on swapping my CPU or motherboard right now, but it looks like I might have to. If I go with a beefier processor, will I need a better motherboard to keep up with the GTX 1050?

You'd probably just need to flash the BIOS...

I'd definitely go with MSI 🙂 if nothing else, just for the longer warranty alone.

swiftfalcon89 said:obviously not. you need two identical cards for SLI, so it's either an NVIDIA GeForce GT 210 Dual or an NVIDIA GeForce GT 210 Dual...

nah, neither one works in SLI🙂

only NVIDIA cards can run in SLI...

If you ask me, I’d swap out both the motherboard and the power supply... just my two cents though. I've always preferred having a solid mid-range combo where the board and CPU are balanced somewhere in the middle.
Pairing a cheap motherboard with a high-end processor is just asking for trouble.
And if you actually plan on gaming, you definitely need to upgrade that GPU. 😁

swiftfalcon89 said:It’s fine, but I wouldn't even suggest an HD4850 or an HD4870 anyway. Two reasons: first, those cards are ancient and run hot as hell. Second, they pull way too much power under load, and I don't know what kind of PSU you're running in that rig. An HD6670 uses way less juice than those old HD48xx models...

And it's weaker than all of them.🤦

450-$167 for everyone... anything more than that is just wishful thinking

Benjamin King2 said:You're wrong. 😁 450*100/82 means your PSU will pull about 550W from the wall at full load. This board is solid:

cheaper one here 😬

Christian Mendoza60 said:So I read somewhere that this motherboard isn't meant for overclocking any CPU pulling more than 95W, if I got that right.
My chip sits at 80W, so unless I'm tripping, there’s still some headroom to push the clocks.

Overclocking pushes that 80W even higher, so: :O

Just a heads up, you'll be unlocking the CPU to 4 cores while overclocking the GPU..

I really hope you aren't planning on overclocking the CPU on that board.

David Sanders4 said:and obviously you need a motherboard with 4 PCIe 3.0 slots.

🙄
It doesn't even have to be PCIe 3.0.
2.0 works just fine.

All that matters is the lanes:
16x 8x 8x 8x 🙂

ruggedeagle40 said:Maybe $1700-$1800 max. Anything higher feels like a waste. There's really no point in overspending right now.

Thanks for the heads up, is 😲

really that much of an issue?

I don't buy that...
if memory serves, those Abit boards were solid as a rock...

-ATI Radeon™ HD 5450 sapphire,
Look, I don't run games on max settings, just 1200x700. It's enough for me to get
by at lower resolutions.

That’s hardly a gaming card...

With this, you might actually have some fun.🙂

feralbadger55 said:Hey guys, I need some help. What kind of GPU can I pick up for under a grand?$367Thinking about picking up a GTX 650 Ti. Anyone know of something better for the same kind of cash?

It’s basically just like trying to run a modern marathon in old sneakers. You can try, but you're going to feel every bit of that outdated hardware.
A8-3870K @ 3.0GHz. Basic stuff.
A 500GB hard drive? That's basically a relic at this point. It's like trying to run a modern marathon in flip-flops.
600W power supply.
4GB DDR3. Total joke.

It's the same power supply. Just non-modular, and you save about $5 🙂

Intel Core 2 quad E9550 @2.83
ATI Sapphire Radeon 4870HD
4GB DDR2 RAM, can't remember if it's 1600 MHz or slower
2x 500GB HD, probably 7200 RPM
Intel DG45ID

Selling that?
I wouldn't :O
Just overclock the CPU to 3GHz
Grab a new GPU and call it a day😁 you could still run it🙂
