Major changes coming to the Federal Reserve subreddit in Feedback & Suggestions ·
It seems like the FBI has significantly stepped up their quality control lately.
The usual troll bait is gone, the spamming has dried up, there’s no outright harassment, and the low-effort trash threads have vanished.
Instead, we just get questions that get shut down instantly—usually accompanied by some self-important moderator taking a shot at everyone else's intelligence.
Bravo, I guess!

Kenneth Peterson5 said:As far as I can tell, every single moderator here went through some kind of special Chuck Norris training program just so they could act as the personal henchmen for big boss Chaka—so honestly, if you have to pay up for maintenance this "high quality," why the hell not?

Seriously, look at this thread... then look at this comment. Just perfect.

The topic itself is spot on.
If you actually bother to read what Anderlon has been telling the press, it's pretty clear.
It might not be happening this exact second, but I’d bet anything they’re going to roll out a subscription model eventually.
They're probably just waiting for the right moment—waiting for social trends to shift, for internet infrastructure to evolve, or maybe just some other minor detail to fall into place...

Harold Taylor6 said:Look, you don't need a PhD to realize when a discussion is heading off the rails. While it’s certainly helpful for a moderator to have a decent handle on the specific subreddit they're overseeing, it’s honestly ridiculous to expect any single mod to be an absolute expert on every single niche topic posted on their board—don't be silly.

If people are actually paying for access, then this kind of behavior shouldn't be tolerated anymore. In other words, moderators need to be guided by actual substance rather than just following whoever is loudest, or pretending there's some "culture of dialogue" happening. To be fair, the supposed "dialogue culture" among mods can sometimes feel more like intentional trolling than the actual rudeness of some random internet troll...

Ronald Allen said:Look, if you can manage to act civil when talking to people at your job, then you should probably be able to handle it here too. That's really all there is to it.

Well...
I suppose talking nonsense is fine as long as you stay polite, right?
Or maybe it's okay to slip in some hidden advertisements in every single post without the mods noticing, even when they have absolutely nothing to do with the actual topic.
Then again, I guess there's no point in me trying to explain any of this to you.

Harold Taylor6 said:That’s true, I suppose, but that’s really beside the point here. Your whole argument was basically that you aren't bound by any kind of agreement until a payment actually hits the table.

I honestly believe the vast majority of our moderators are doing a fantastic job. Think about it—at any given moment, you've got maybe 3,000 to 4,000 people online, ranging from dedicated members to just random guests passing through. If you're under the impression that everyone is going to think and react in the exact same way, then the word "individual" pretty much loses all meaning!
But that doesn't take away from the hard work every single moderator puts in.

That’s not really what I’m getting at...
What I'm talking about is the subject matter expertise.
A moderator should actually be an expert in their specific niche, rather than just acting as a glorified hall monitor for "community etiquette."
I could probably sit here and list every person they've appointed to lead technical sub-forums over the last year. And for every single one of them, I could give you a solid reason why they aren't qualified to be there...
That's just how the Reddit hierarchy works. Not to mention the overall politics and the power structure behind the moderation team...
But again, I'm not saying this applies to every single mod out there.

discrimination.
But I have to wonder—who exactly gets to sit in judgment and decide what counts as a quality contribution?

And there is absolutely no way I’m paying for a subscription when I can't even access private messages because of that damn banner...

Harold Taylor6 said:Why on earth do you think you aren't bound by certain obligations right now? A contract doesn't necessarily have to involve cold, hard cash—it can be an exchange of intellectual property or ideas, too! Once you opened that account, you essentially agreed to a specific set of rules.

That’s true, but I suppose when you guys granted me access, you also took on certain responsibilities.
But that part seems to be conveniently forgotten.......

nimblewalker58 said:If you weren't so completely obsessed with whether everything is "fair" or constantly airing your grievances, you'd easily fit right in with the forum's elite—the very group we’re trying to protect so they can exchange ideas without being interrupted by every random troll looking for attention.

Of course I'm obsessed with complaining, as long as certain mods stay in power.
I just refuse to let someone uneducated decide whether my posts are appropriate or not.
The same goes for not wanting to be at the mercy of whether a moderator woke up on the wrong side of the bed today and decided to provoke me in a thread.
In other words, I have no intention of paying an entry fee for a site where specific individuals act as moderators and head moderators.
Anyway, all of you with the black and pink usernames know exactly which people I'm talking about.
I'll pay for a service where the moderators are either on my level or above it.
I certainly won't be paying to have semi-educated, self-important people hand out penalties to me.
That's just how I see it.

They’ll try to sell you anything at this point 🙄 Honestly—once Mislin starts peddling his fake yellow stash, I already know exactly who I'm calling.

I think you might be wrong there, though I suppose you have a point...
This isn't the first time we've heard whispers about this kind of thing.
One really ought to spend some time digging through the internet to find what Anderlon has been saying in his interviews with reporters...
You're right about one thing, though: threads like this are basically just polls used to gauge public opinion before making a move.
If they decide the idea won't fly, then on April 1st, we'll probably just get an announcement claiming it was all an April Fools' joke...

James Chavez91 said:-Unfortunately, that's not quite right... 🤷

-And regarding the whole idea of paying for access... It’s a disaster, honestly, and it just doesn't make any sense... 👎

I think you might be mistaken; the moment I actually pay for something, I suppose I'm technically entering into a contractual relationship...

And I won't even bother asking any serious questions on certain PDF files. You aren't going to get any real answers anyway, because I guess nobody is foolish enough to offer their expertise for free on a forum that actually charges a membership fee.
We have actual professionals here who spend their time giving out free advice to people.
So now I’m just wondering who exactly is doing all that work while everyone else makes the money.
On top of that, instead of offering moderation duties to these serious, expert individuals—which would actually combine utility with a decent user experience—you choose to leave a bunch of frustrated types wandering around acting like they own the place just because they hold a moderator badge.
Honestly, you really ought to use your heads for once!

Ronald Allen said:The whole thing isn't about anyone getting paid; it's about finally getting Reddit in some kind of order and dealing with the trolls, spammers, and clones. I mean, how much do you think people are actually going to shell out if they want to post using five different handles, having to pay some small fee for every single one just to keep their accounts alive?

If you actually start charging a membership fee, moderators like you—the power-trippers and the rest of that crowd—won't be able to pull this off anymore.
Nobody is going to pay a dime just to have some sadist breathing down their neck.
Why am I calling them sadists?
Well, just look at the avatars and those custom user titles you all grab the second you get mod status; I won't go as far as dissecting your specific work, but the sheer ego boost you seem to get from being a moderator is pretty obvious.
On top of that, if this becomes a paid service, we users would actually be protected by consumer protection laws.
There wouldn't be any room left for moderator power trips.
Personally, I certainly won't be paying, so don't expect me to wander around complaining later.
The moment you introduce a subscription model, there's going to be a massive exodus.
And I'm definitely not the only one who feels that way...

hollowtrucker77 said:It’s honestly hilarious how many people on here have been whining about the moderators and those damn bot accounts lately.
Look, I'm not saying it's a crime to ask for a little extra cash if it actually meant we'd get some real professionalism and actual quality around this forum, because let's be honest, we could all use a bit more substance.

I don't know about those specific mods... well, I don't mean to generalize all of them, but just those particular ones.
And I’ll be sure to go into full detail about that the very moment you decide to start charging for access...
Look, I’ll just say it: my bad regarding the money. Honestly, though, I don't think anyone is actually out to get me.

Anyone can jump into discussions on Reddit as long as they follow the established rules. We don't need to go out and recruit anyone; whether someone decides to hang out here or not is entirely up to them.
You don't have to suck up to anybody. Just respect the rules, and you should never even have to deal with the moderators, or heaven forbid, the admins.

Enjoy your time on Reddit,

Ronald Allen

Honestly, you’d almost think there was an actual Anderlon behind this handle. 🤣
The sheer audacity of the Virgin Mary...

Alright, enough with the jokes. The admins will be reaching out to address this shortly.

Regarding what exactly?
I don't think Basta was being too blunt, though maybe he went on a bit too long...🤣
Honestly, if they ever decide to start charging for access to this site, I'm calling it quits tonight...

It’s pretty disheartening to see, but I honestly think the recent shifts within the FBI are just a case of a tiny minority dictating terms to the rest of the country.

Well, I guess they won't wipe out the clown playing administrator, though...
so I suppose these are the new protocols...
legal recourse is basically banned unless it suits their interests...
you lack credibility and consistency, and honestly, this kind of thing just invites a revolt and makes the whole situation here even messier...
thanks for your time and understanding......

Since things are pretty slow here at the diner, I figured I'd do a little sketching.🤣
I wasn't really getting at that... I mean, whenever someone asks a question to the mods or admins, there’s always this clown who just has to chime in...
Is he actually a mod or an admin?

Since the new rules have kicked in, I’m really hoping this gets flagged as trolling too...
it’s just endlessly irritating!
