That’s exactly how people viewed Japan during the fifties and sixties. We'll see where China stands in twenty years. 😉 Their trajectory is solid—they're churning out seven times more engineers every single year than the USA does, and lately, they've been aggressively recruiting top-tier scientists from abroad. They already have three universities sitting in the global top fifty, whereas a decade ago, they didn't have a single one on the list. In ten years? Expect one or two in the top 10 and maybe forty in the top 100—mark my words. 😉

For China to make their next big leap, they’re going to need some serious political reform. You can't expect massive numbers of highly educated people to thrive under a bloated, dictatorial bureaucracy built on questionable ideological foundations.
Look, growth isn't infinite. Japan's GDP per capita is top-tier globally, but they've hit a ceiling. They just can't sustain this pace indefinitely.

Now they’re facing a different beast—an aging population. It feels like Japan is slowly turning into one massive retirement community. That’s what happens when you overwork everyone; people are so caught up in the grind that there's zero time left for anything else, let alone starting a family.

It's entirely possible that in thirty years, we'll be asking the same thing about the Chinese miracle. Everyone keeps shouting that the Chinese will take over the world, but we'll see if that actually pans out.

It’s perfectly fine to let your imagination run wild. Reality is a different story altogether.
A flask? 🤣 Why wouldn't it be a flask?

The math is actually quite simple: if we can fit a million people at Belmont Park, then the net floor space of such a building would need to be exactly four and a half times that area.
To ensure nothing goes sideways, neither the architect nor the inspectors should be anyone other than Goldman Sachs.
Goldman Sachs rules. Stalin forever.

I’m with you. That is exactly what we need right now. Just look at the project our neighbors to the east have taken on—the largest Orthodox temple in the world.

Personally, I think it would be an insult to American national pride if the Mexicans finished that temple while we were stuck with just that little old cathedral in downtown Chicago.

The only way to save face is to build the biggest cathedral on the planet. It’ll probably take the Mexicans a hundred years to finish their temple. If we actually put some muscle behind it and use the latest reinforcement tech, and hand the blueprints over to those "experts" at the NBA, we could probably wrap ours up in fifty years, easy.

What do you guys think?

So why didn't you run in the last election then? Why not step up and show us what you've actually got?
Even the guy who actually stepped up—yeah, I'm talking about Jurčić—declared himself the winner on election night, only to back down a few days later and decide he wasn't even going to be an alternative.
Bottom line? Get real.☕

Let me ask again:
What is it about him that makes him so indispensable to you all? I honestly don't get it.

Jeremy Wilson3 as Prime Minister? Hahahaha!
This whole thing reminds me of those recent revolutionary protests led by that group of overly devoted, frustrated, half-witted teenagers who almost pulled off a coup d'état! Almost...😂😂😂

Buaa, how would we poor souls survive without our dear Dr. Ivo?!

Get a grip. There are at least 50,000 people in this country who could do a better job as Prime Minister than he ever could.

I honestly don't get it. What is it about him that makes you all think he's so indispensable?

Adam Collins4 said:Why is it that we always—regardless of how well things are actually going—insist on comparing ourselves to the absolute bottom of the European barrel?

No offense intended to anyone...

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter who has how much gas sitting in their reserves. What matters is how you handle the crisis when it hits, how you face the music, and ultimately, what your long-term energy strategy looks like...

I can't help but remember how things were 10 or 15 years ago, when Ruvina used to look down on the Czech Republic and Canada. 🙄

Now, they're looking at their neighbors in Eastern Europe and Romania instead, though at this rate, even those won't be the standard for long.

Ashley Ramirez7 said:Alright, Jeremy Wilson3, if we're playing that game, who's going to foot the bill for a half-million dollar fine? My gas line is registered under industrial use—you planning on paying that?

You really need to figure out who you should actually be angry at.

At least you can still keep your house warm for now, so make the most of it. That won't last forever either.

I just wanted to drop a quick word of advice to anyone using gas water heaters in their bathrooms: you might want to get your shower in tonight. 😁

I’ve been hearing whispers that these changes are going into effect sooner than expected. It looks like hot water could become quite the luxury soon. And let's be honest, nobody wants to deal with smelling bad. Right?

Joshua Johnson11 said:We can play around with this topic all we want, but just look at the reality on the ground right now. Gas supplies are being cut off to industry, and they're threatening everyone with massive fines—manufacturing, retail, you name it. Think about the damage this does during a brutal winter. What happens if the plants freeze over or the pipes burst? Who's going to foot the bill for that disaster?... Now, compare that to delaying school for a week. The cost? Basically zero. Kids can catch up on lessons easily enough, and honestly, they’d probably be happier for the break. We have plenty of schools running on natural gas that don't have to pinch pennies because you can't have kids sitting in the cold. But industry? They're getting squeezed dry... 🤣

Just make sure you don't freeze yourself out there; just crank up the thermostat. As for everything else, leave it to Joe. Even Jane said he'd get it all sorted out, right?

Besides, people used to grab whatever they could for themselves, and only now are they suddenly remembering what sacrifice looks like. Oh well, that's just how the cookie crumbles.

Source: USA Today:

The Department is still urging citizens to be smart about how they use their energy resources.

In an effort to keep the grid stable during this extreme cold snap, every little bit helps. According to a statement from the Department, they are working closely with the Gas Company to monitor the natural gas supply across the United States.

The official statement, released by Tom Mazal, an advisor to the Secretary, promises that the Department will keep everyone updated on any further developments regarding gas deliveries.

Brrr, I am feeling the chill. I think I'll just turn my thermostat up a notch. 😁

Mark Carter4 said:Well, once your plan reaches its conclusion (no waiting, time to act!), one has to admit that given how "original" this post is, you seem pretty agitated and desperate to see the current leadership toppled as soon as possible. Since your little scheme might take far too long—given that the US has huge natural gas reserves and considering Sanders's legendary knack for maneuvering through crises—let me offer a suggestion for using gas that's much faster and more efficient...

Since you clearly believe there's a massive group of like-minded people willing to sacrifice themselves just to bring down the government, why not organize a mass suicide instead? In a day or two, once you've coordinated to ensure a high turnout, just crank the gas open in your apartments and blow yourselves up all at once. If you leave behind apology letters stating you did it because of the ruling party, I think even someone with the questionable moral compass shown by Sanders would be forced to resign under that kind of intense public pressure...

And to make sure your many potential followers actually take you seriously, as a true leader who should set the example, you ought to go out first tomorrow morning so we can get the news of your magnificent action moving quickly...

That one hits the mark. 🤣

Got any other doublespeak like that?

All you're gonna do is end up with a massive utility bill that looks like a phone number. Plus, you'll probably get sick from the constant back-and-forth between your boiling house and the freezing air outside.

Look, man, everything needs a bit of moderation.

And for those complaining about the cost, this crisis hasn't bumped the price by a single cent. 😛

Ashley Ramirez7 said:Jebigam, I finally shut off the gas today and fired up the wood stove instead. It’s a solid 80 degrees in here right now—absolute bliss, 🙂but what’s the move from here? I’m honestly worried we’re just going to end up driving our own utility bills through the roof if we aren't careful.😁

Just switch back to the gas for now and save your firewood for later, when the gas actually runs out.

It doesn't matter. Go ahead and crank it up. Even Exelon is struggling because they have to cut back on gas usage for the power plants. We're going to crash the grid.😁

The title says it all.

I have a suggestion for everyone who hates the current administration: crank your thermostats up to the max. I know for a fact I'll be doing it. 😈

If we all do this, we'll trigger a shortage that’ll fuel massive public outcry against Prime Minister Ivo and his cabinet. People get incredibly restless when their homes drop below freezing. No amount of political spin can fix that kind of discontent.

No more waiting. Let's get to work!
Emily Taylor3 said:Look, just imagine if some Journalist had been taking aim at Saddam back in the day—not even mentioning Stalin or Marshall, given that your avatar is basically a walking propaganda poster. 🙂

Let’s be real here: how many pieces would that Journalist be torn into if they tried this same stunt against Stalin, Marshall, or Saddam?

It’s easy to mess around and troll Bush because Bush is actually used to dealing with "human rights" nonsense. You can protest, you can comment, you can demand a release, and you might even end up in court for a few months or just walk free. Whatever. 😳 Who knows, maybe this was actually a career move for the guy. Once he gets out, he’ll probably be the biggest celebrity in Iraq, maybe even start his own political party. 🙂

I have no idea how those targeting Marshall or Stalin would fare, but as for the guy who targeted Bush, all he's got right now are broken arms and ribs. ☕
