If you're running that ASUS ROG Maximus motherboard like you mentioned earlier, your only real move is swapping in an Intel Core i7 instead of what you have now. But honestly, I'm not sure if that's even worth the headache—it really just comes down to whether you've got the cash to burn on an upgrade that might not even make sense.
Timothy Kim60 said:I was watching this video where they claim—Wendell and guys like him—that prices aren't spiking because some random person buys 4 or 5 GPUs, but because corporations are snapping up 1,000, 5,000, or even 15,000 units at a time.
Pure logic there...☕
The only silver lining might be that with used card prices being this insane globally, they probably won't be able to wreck the market for new cards coming out over the next couple of years. At least not on the scale we saw after the last big crypto craze back in the R290 days.🕺
I don't see these cards ever being worth the money because the markup is just insane... honestly, these greedy companies are out of control. As if they didn't screw everyone over during the mining craze, now they're trying to flip them for what they paid years ago 😵 (like an RX 480 4GB going for $300-$350 with maybe 6 months of warranty left)

For me, it’s the opposite—I have to delete the .jpeg or whatever file extension is at the end just to get the link to actually work.

I don't get it either. One minute all the links from this American forum go straight to Imgur, and the next, I'm stuck manually editing extensions like I mentioned before...
Given what you're working with, your best bet is just grabbing a used i5 or maybe an i3 that fits your motherboard, adding another 4GB of RAM, and picking up a GTX 1050 (or a GTX 1050 Ti if you've got the extra cash to throw at the upgrade).
SSD remaining life isn't actually a measurement of how the drive is doing; it's just a number the manufacturer sets. Basically, Patriot set an SSD life of 5 years, and since you hit that mark, it's throwing a "problem" flag even though the drive is running perfectly fine.
Now, whether it’s actually going to die on you tomorrow or not... that's anyone's guess.😬
That looks weird... maybe try checking with another tool just to be sure there’s actually an issue, like CrystalDiskInfo, then post the screenshots again.
It’s not an insult, I’m just saying it makes zero sense to me... right now my RX 480 is the bottleneck at 1440p, not the i5-4690k. And given how GPU prices are staying sky-high for a long time (probably until 2020 😁), that CPU won't be the limiting factor anyway. Besides, by then, it'll be time to overhaul the entire platform regardless ☕
You guys tempted me with that 4770k for $1,300, but honestly, swapping an i5 for an i7 doesn't make much sense at 1440p... maybe if it were $500-$233 😬
The only way... is if I snag that one for $1,100-$1,300, then flip my current chip to Adam Moore3 for $600-$267, and boom, there's my $500-$233 🤣 upgrade.
I'm looking to pick up some parts for an s775 build, but there isn't anything worth grabbing locally. It's not that I'm worried about them being faulty, I just don't want to end up with a total paperweight, especially when prices are hitting 100-$50 😬
William Miller8 said:What kind of GPU are you running in your old rig? If it isn't total garbage, it might make sense to just grab a whole new build without a dedicated card right now. You could just stick with your old one or use integrated graphics, then pick up a decent GPU once prices stabilize in 3 to 6 months.
That's probably the smartest move. Trying to offload an old PC without a video card is like trying to sell a car without an engine—nobody's buying it.
Who says you can't buy things on installment plans? You can do it at Protis, Ekupa, HgSpot, or IT-Futura... it all just depends on which credit card you're using and how many months you want to stretch it out over ☕
