It really depends on what you're plugging it into... if it's going straight into a PC, you should be fine because those USB ports usually pack enough juice to spin up an external drive. If you're hooking it up to a TV or a Blu-ray player, then it’s a toss-up—depends on whether that specific device puts out enough power through its USB port or if the drive needs its own dedicated power brick...

The problem is that the MS Pro 550 w ATX P4 only puts out 192W on the 12V rail, whereas a Fortron Hexa 400W Plus actually delivers 384W split across two rails.
Basically, the MS unit is providing way less power where it actually matters on that 12V line.
velvetmoose9 said:@analogtiger19, I honestly don't know how else to tell you—just like briskbison55 keeps telling you—if you see a post that’s out of line, just report it.
When I say "cleaning up," I'm talking metaphorically, so my bad if that comes off weird sometimes. The thing is, metaphors are a bit hit-or-miss; people catch different vibes from them, and maybe it wasn't the smoothest way for me to phrase things.
But look, you've got a point there—I don't really see much point in us going in circles on this topic anymore.
Let's just find some common ground on something else. 👍
@Nica Glad to hear there's actually movement on that issue. Thanks for the heads-up.
I don't get why you're so obsessed with this idea of a "cleanup"... nobody is asking to scrub the place. We just want a moderator who actually shows up, so there won't be anything left to clean up in the first place. Do you seriously think it makes sense to go back now, after six months or more, and try to sanitize every single mess, nonsense post, or off-topic thread that ever hit that subforum? It’s pointless, especially when we're talking about maybe two or three pages across a couple of threads 🤦
But there's no point arguing this further if we're just going to end up at total loggerheads 🤷
I thought the OP was asking you guys to finally assign a moderator to that subforum—since it’s been a ghost town for months—and I was just jumping in to back him up. It’s a bit late for the post cleanup stuff, but you could at least try to stop the bleeding there. If you need to dig up old offenses just to justify hiring a mod for that section, then honestly, let it all burn. I’m not wasting my breath on that.
I’m backing this request... honestly, the situation on the Military History and technology subforum has been a total disaster for the last year or so. It’s become completely unreadable 😵
The pros who stay in this game long-term have made a killing... but those "weekend warriors" who thought they could just jump in for a few months and grab some quick cash? They got absolutely wrecked.
Hey, if it's hitting 30-35+ degrees Celsius, what’s the airflow like in the case? Are the GPU fans actually spinning up when they should?
It’s possible a fan died and it keeps stalling out—starting and stopping constantly. Try watching it closely to see if the speed stays steady, especially once you kick off a benchmark.
