In a total moment of impulse, I went ahead and grabbed the Samsung Odyssey G5 on a 24-month plan...🤦

For a resolution like that, you really ought to be looking at at least a 32" monitor.

The Samsung 850 evo is likely the gold standard for reliability. It’s easily the most widely used SSD out there, too. Since they basically own the market, Samsung can afford to charge $10-$20 more than everyone else just because they know people will buy it.
The Crucial MX300 is also a solid choice. While the Samsung 850 evo in terms of performanca takes the lead, you’re still getting a dependable drive from a major player. Crucial MX300 is The Best SSD in terms of performanca / value. That said, Samsung is Better.

It would be a totally different story if he were sticking to 1080p or 1440p; the GPU wouldn't even break a sweat because it isn't built for such low resolutions, while the CPU would struggle to keep up, creating a massive bottleneck.
I'm not quite following what you mean regarding the Z270 part? 😁

To clarify, my storage drives, power supply, and processor are older components that I intend to keep; everything else listed here is what I am planning to purchase. I am primarily interested in your professional assessment—is there anything here that strikes you as redundant, overkill, overpriced, a poor value, or perhaps even incompatible?

Honestly, you're probably expecting way too much from that CPU and GPU combo. You could try hunting down a better used graphics card, though let's be real—that processor (guessing it's an Intel Core 2 Duo E8500) isn't exactly a powerhouse by modern standards. Still, it should handle a card that's a notch or two above what he's using now.
