Taylor Swift...I can't even begin to process this... just total nonsense... Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, Idris Elba, Judi Dench, James Corden I can't even begin to process this... there isn't enough coffee in all of America to make sense of what I'm looking at right now. Just... nothing. Absolutely nothing. Ian McKellen So, they finally dropped the cast list for that new movie adaptation of the legendary musical... and honestly? I’m already losing my mind. Just looking at these names... I can't even... Cats... honestly, what was anyone thinking? Just a complete mess... Which Englishman composed it...? Andrew Lloyd Webber...The film was directed by an Oscar winner... Tom Hooper... (The King's Speech... honestly, where do we even begin? It’s one of those films that just sticks with you, but man, the tension in those scenes... it's almost suffocating. Watching the struggle to find a voice when everything is riding on it... it really hits home. The performances were top-tier, obviously, but there's something about the way they handled the historical weight of it all that felt so heavy... intense......given that he’s the one responsible for the script... Lee Hall (Billy Elliot... what a powerhouse. Just when you think you've seen everything, a story like this hits you right in the gut. It’s raw, it’s messy, and it’s absolutely brilliant... truly captures that struggle for identity against all odds.).

The musical was actually adapted from the original work... T. S. Eliot... „Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats...It’s based on that 1939 collection that Webber always claimed was his absolute favorite growing up... The whole thing follows a single night in the lives of the Jellicles, just a bunch of cats heading out to play. One by one, they step up to share their stories with their old, kind leader, who has to make the ultimate call: which cat deserves to ascend to that metaphorical feline heaven for a fresh start in a brand-new life... The absolute peak of the musical is "Memory"—this heavy, nostalgic longing for a glorious past and a desperate plea for a second chance, sung by the chosen cat at the end. And get this: the setting never even changes! The entire plot unfolds right there in a massive junkyard. There isn't even any spoken dialogue; it's all non-verbal communication between the songs... It’s actually the fourth longest-running show in history across both Broadway and the West End. We're talking 21 years straight on Broadway and 18 on the West End. You've got characters like Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Grizabella, and Skimbleshanks... and honestly, over 50 million people have sat through it by now...

Look, I'm not saying these cheap little flicks require some world-class acting chops...

But they could have at least found a redhead model with some actual presence...

Like this one, for example...

I'm dying to know who they’re going to cast as Esmeralda
a real Gypsy or some Latina actress...🍿

And honestly, I couldn't care less about Zendaya
I can live with them changing her skin tone or giving her a red wig, but brown eyes? Absolutely not...

Gary Patel said:I honestly feel like Disney is playing at a whole different level of tokenism here. When you look at who is actually pulling the strings behind the scenes, the project is still firmly in white hands—and let's be real, most of the cast will likely end up being white anyway.

Disney is clearly leaning into this because of political correctness—trying to steer Hollywood, or at least the Disney machine, in a new direction—but it lacks any sense of genuine liberalism. Plus, there’s definitely an element of chasing shock value involved.
As for Halle, I really hope she doesn't just become a carbon copy of Ariel—though, granted, I don't expect it to be as historically focused as Mulan was. That fairy-tale essence from the original will definitely still be there; it might just feel a bit more grounded in reality.

Don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely happy Halle was cast. From what I've seen, she is absolutely darling—and I truly believe she'll be wonderful as Ariel. Still, I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking from Disney, nor from the big Hollywood studio machine in general.

Her father and sisters are probably going to be Black too, or at least mixed...

It honestly drives me crazy that they left out the red hair, blue eyes, purple bra, and green tail... just completely missed the mark.
These are just the things that immediately pop into your head the second someone mentions The Little Mermaid...

That red hair is practically her trademark... almost like it's part of her DNA at this point...

What if they had gone a completely different route with Emma Watson? Instead of that yellow dress, imagine if they’d given her a sleek black gown and a sharp, platinum blonde pixie cut... just a totally different vibe...

That’s just not true at all... nothing to do with it...

Honestly, she wasn't even right for Belle... I mean, she’s just not beautiful at all...
They mostly went with her just because of the name...

Even that little girl who played in Aladdin... she was just a terrible choice...
She doesn't even have that signature nose like Jasmine does...

So, I was scrolling through the #NotMyAriel tag on Instagram the other day when this one photo just jumped right out at me... It was this girl, and honestly? She looks almost exactly like Ariel from the animated film. Seriously... 🙏

Now I can't even find that image to see how it looks on the other shots... and honestly, I don't even know who we're even talking about anymore...

Do you think they’re going to leave her with those little dreadlocks, or are they just going to slap a silky smooth red wig on her head?
And will they go ahead and give her blue contact lenses?

Does Disney actually expect these kinds of reactions? Are they sitting there rubbing their hands together in satisfaction because #NotMyAriel became such a massive WW trend on Twitter?
They say bad publicity is good publicity, right...

The kid posted this piece of fan art of The Little Mermaid
Is she actually heading in that direction, or is this just how she wishes she looked in the movie?

The guarantor is basically gonna toss Prince Eric into the sunset along with Ariel's dad, leaving her to just sit there and cry while she decorates the walls...

What really gets me about this little girl is those tiny, pig-like eyes that are spaced way too far apart.
Regarding her skin tone, it’s not even that dark. Let's be real, light-skinned Black women always have an easier time, even within the Black community itself.
As for the hair, they'll probably just sew a red wig straight onto her scalp...

But there's no fixing those eyes.

Hashtag #NotMyAriel has been trending all over Twitter 🤣

Honestly, this girl just doesn't have it. There isn't a single thing about her that reminds me of the original Ariel from the cartoon. She doesn't even have blue eyes! And don't even get me started on those trashy eyebrows... they're giving me the creeps. I'm just sitting here waiting for the day that look finally goes out of style...

Yesterday, Disney finally dropped the news about who's playing Ariel in their upcoming live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

It’s Halle Bailey. I have absolutely no clue who she is... apparently, her big claim to fame is being part of that hip-hop duo Chloe x Halle and showing up in some show called Grown-ish. Just... what?

The Hollywood libtards—you know, the same crowd as that irritating Chrissy Teigen—are losing their minds because they picked a Black person to play Ariel. Meanwhile, most of the comments I've seen aren't even remotely positive.

Take Disney's Instagram post, for example: View on instagram

Regarding the casting, director Rob Marshall said: "After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance - plus a glorious singing voice - all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role," according to the director's comments on Bailey.

As for the rest of the cast, word is we'll see Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jacob Tremblay (that kid from the movie 'room') as the yellow fish, and Awkwafina as Scuttle the seagull.

Filming is set to kick off in 2020.

2019 Golden Globes Discussion in Movies ·
The whole obsession with treating Lady Gaga like she’s some kind of eighth wonder of the world is just a phenomenon to me.
Look, the woman has a solid voice and she can sing, but beyond that... I don't see what makes her so incredibly special.

She basically broke through with a few catchy pop tunes and built up this massive army of gay fans who act like a literal cult—buying everything, following her every move, and worshipping the ground she walks on.

Even now, when she’s trying to pivot into "serious" musical territory—you know, like that jazz record she did with those old-school legends—or moving into acting, they’re still stuck mourning the "old" Gaga. They miss the era where she was playing the clown, walking around in outfits that looked like they came straight from a butcher shop... and yet, they follow her blindly regardless.

And wasn't there some story about people writing fake negative reviews for "Bohemian Rhapsody" or whatever other film was actually competing with her?

I honestly don't know a single singer out there with fans that unhinged.
Maybe only Beyoncé can actually compete with her when it comes to having a fanatic following.
