Wait, isn't he that guy from Big Brother? 🤷

But I guess people finally have to face reality.
If there wasn't something major being uncovered in the book and the movie, they wouldn't be spitting venom and pushing to shut down threads...👎
Do they really think censorship stops the truth from getting out?

oh please, that movie isn't even online anywhere, so stop acting like you're some kind of martyr... 👎

Zachary Brown 🙂

just delete this thread already... 🙈

(I have to admit, it actually looks pretty convincing at first glance 😂)

This is just a joke:

I mean, I guess Monsanto is basically the biggest polluter on the planet. Maybe it’s just me, but I don't know about this GMO food stuff. I guess people have a lot of opinions on it. Honestly, maybe it isn't that big of a deal, or maybe it is. I can't say for sure.I guess calling that "strong" is a bit much. 😬...)

though maybe our guy Bojan is right. I guess I'll give my take once I actually see the movie... 😉

Gregory Rodriguez10 said:Just grab it from a torrent site; I actually watched it about three weeks ago.😁 It was just a DivX rip, but whatever, it works.😁😁😁

The first time I saw it, the movie really hit home, but by the second viewing, it just wasn't the same. I'm definitely not rushing to watch it a third time. The soundtrack is great—lots of The Smiths and Regina Spektor—but the whole thing is starting to get on my nerves. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is as charming as ever, but the girl is just incredibly grating. I think I saw a critic tearing it apart on a major US news site today.🤣

Personally, I wouldn't pay even 20-$10 for something like this.☕

That guy doesn't have three clean things to say about the movie... 😂 Maybe we should just listen to Ebert. 👍)

He said this:

The third film in the competition was 500 Days of Summer, the American debut from Marc Webb. Webb’s characters are basically just a couple: Tom, this hopeless romantic guy who’s clearly been too heavily influenced by British pop music and the movie La La Land, and Summer, a rational, non-sentimental girl who just isn't interested in commitment.
Someone said something. It feels like every ten years, Hollywood decides to remake "When Harry Met Sally," and I guess Webb's film is basically that exact same dynamic, just reimagined for the generation that grew up on "Sex and the City."
It doesn't exactly look like a spit in the face...

Christian Taylor3 said:That’s not really the point here. It’s not like Hostelling International was based on actual history—of course it wasn't—but I find it pretty hilarious how Roth tried to market and package his little mess by shoving it into a basket of events that "allegedly" happened (though, for the record, those bits from the true facts list actually did occur, and honestly, they’re still happening).

I feel like things started getting heated for no reason. Or maybe they weren't, because all those horrific episodes from the American Civil War don't deserve to be relegated to some cheap horror flick—if anything, you should be making a deeply serious (anti)war film about them instead.

Like I said before, to me, every war movie is essentially a horror movie.

So, what about Tropic Thunder? 😍

voted for The Dark Knight even though it was a tough call against V for Vendetta...
The trailer looks like it’s going to be heavy on the action, but I'm not sure what the actual plot is. Have you seen Justice League yet? I thought that one was pretty cool, I guess.
looks interesting... what's this actually about?

Ryan Wood98 said:Honestly, I’ve grown quite tired of all the Hollywood garbage.

I think I might be in the mood to watch some alternative cinema tonight.

The only issue is that I’m completely out of the loop. I have no idea what’s even out there, let alone whether it’s actually any good.

What would you recommend from this selection of independent films, or perhaps something more along the lines of art house cinema?

I’ve been watching Dogville, Dead Man, and Run Lola Run lately... what else would you recommend that follows a similar path?

If you're fed up with all that Hollywood crap, my top recommendation is to check out some Asian cinema. You should definitely give it a look. Maybe they aren't all art, but that’s just a subjective thing, I guess. Blah blah blah.:

The Vengeance trilogy. Park Chan-wook
Park Chan-wook (2002)
Oldboy (2003)
Oldboy (2005)

All the movies. Wong Kar-waiMaybe a recommendation?
Dung che sai Duk (1994)
Chung Hing (1994)
Fa Yeung Nin Wa (2000)

Movies. Kim Ki-dukMaybe a recommendation?
Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. (2003)
Bin-jip (2004)

Movies. Yoji YamadaMaybe some recommendations?
Tasogare Seibei (2002)
Kakushi ken oni no tsume (2004)

Movies. Takeshi MiikeMaybe a recommendation:
China's superman (1998)
Ôdishon (1999)
Bijitâ Q (2001)
Koroshiya 1 (2001)

Something from... Shion Sono:
Suicide Circle (2001)
Kimyo (2005)

From the more recent ones. Don't even think about it. Let the Right One In
Hongryeon (2003)
Mou gaan dou (2002)
.
.
.

There’s way more than this, and I’ve barely even scratched the surface. Most of them are solid alternatives too—mostly that pretentious European art house stuff or just a million classics depending on where they're set. Here’s the list, so go ahead and enjoy. I guess there isn't much to say about this. Just clicking through.)
heh, Titanic 2 actually makes sense. I can already see the tagline: "he sinks just to rise and sink again... starring: sea-zombie LdC & KW''

Dawn of the Dead (1978) is definitely better!

Or maybe it’s just a gap in the casing? 🤔
Nicholas Edwards4 said:I’ve always had a soft spot for those opening shots of Manhattan at night, though I suppose daytime could work too, if you're into that sort of thing. Especially when you see Clint Eastwood's name pop up on the screen! 👍

It might even turn into one of those gritty road movies—you know, a long haul through the Nevada desert in some massive heavy-duty truck—which honestly sounds pretty promising. 🍿

Or maybe it'll lean into that plane crash subgenre, where some small aircraft goes down in the frozen wilderness and then you're stuck dealing with a hungry bear showing up. 🤣

Have you seen this? (I have 🙈):

Melissa Evans, you're such a legend, haha
I'm actually curious what you're into (do you have a link to some kind of personal top list or something?)

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/jcvd/

Also... I think it's worth noting this surprising fact: according to Time magazine, van Damme's performance in this movie was ranked as the second-best male acting performance of last year... landing right behind Heath Ledger as Joker in The Dark Knight!
http://www.time.com/time/specials/20...864363,00.html

Look, I believe you that he's good and his performance was great! But I think calling him the best of 2008 is a stretch. He's good, maybe even excellent, I don't doubt that, but I won't know if he's truly the best until I see it myself (though I have my doubts...) 👍

p.s.
goldenhound32, you've got me on your ignore list, so I can't really respond to you...
hiddenhound3 said:I find myself in the exact same position. There are many times when I feel a sense of regret, and truthfully, in most instances, I realize from the very beginning that I have made a mistake. Still, I cannot help it; I have this compulsion to see through everything I start.

Have you ever consciously gotten yourself into some total garbage like Gigli? And if so, what? Also, I always finish what I start, but putting something like Nielsen or Gigli on while I'm sober? No way. It's just not happening, freaking impossible... (Cloverfield, Twilight, Signs are, for example, some movies I hate but I still watched them from start to finish, and there are tons more...) 🤷
