Brenda Flores2 said:Thanks, guys! I’ve already done three therapy sessions and honestly, I don't feel a damn thing changing. Maybe things will finally settle down soon... 🙂
You know, sometimes things actually feel a little worse right at the beginning before they finally start getting better. Personally, when I go for physical therapy, I usually try to knock out two rounds of ten sessions back-to-back. Now, if you decide to go privately, it definitely hits the wallet harder—but man, you don't have to deal with all that headache involving waiting lists or insurance referrals and stuff. It's basically the same treatment as what you'd get through your provider, though. If I were you, I'd say now is really the time to start paying attention to your spine and taking good care of it! 👍
It looks like I’m going to have to run all those searches from scratch again👎 So, dustyowl29—what took you so long to find something after three tries?
So, about 8 or 10 months ago, I woke up with this really weird pain in my penis. It started out as this stinging sensation right after I peed—sometimes before, sometimes after—and then the pain would just migrate. One minute it’s at the base, then it moves up to the tip, then back down to the base... it felt like it was wandering around in there. On top of that, the tip would get all red and irritated. It would clear up for a day or two, then boom, right back again. So, I went to see my doctor. He prescribed one round of antibiotics. Nothing happened. He tried another round. Still nothing. I did a urine analysis, and everything came back totally fine. Then I went further and did a urethral swab for Chlamydia and other bacteria, plus a semen analysis. Everything looked normal, except they found *Staphylococcus epidermidis* in the sample, but only at a level of 10^3—so honestly, it’s possible it wasn't even an infection and just some skin bacteria got into the 😁 collection cup during the process. I finished the antibiotics, and when I re-tested the semen 10 days later, the Staph was gone. I felt a little better—the redness finally cleared up—but the actual pain didn't go away. It’s still this nagging ache that shifts between the base, the middle, and the tip. Sometimes it hits before I pee, sometimes after... it just keeps coming and going. I also saw a urologist who checked my prostate through both a digital exam and an ultrasound, and everything there looked perfect. But now, the stinging at the tip of the urethra is getting worse, and I’m having to pee much more frequently. I want to go back for another checkup, but I’m honestly stuck—I don't even know what kind of specific testing I should be asking for at this point? If anyone here has dealt with something similar or has any advice on what my next move should be, please let me know. I’m starting to feel pretty lost with this, and it’s honestly becoming a real nuisance in my daily life. 🙏
Think of a disc like it has a tough outer shell and a soft, jelly-like center. When that outer layer cracks and the inner part leaks out, that’s what we call a prolapse. Right now, it's pressing against a nerve, which is why you're feeling that pain—but honestly, that leaked bit usually just dries up over time, which eventually stops the pressure on the nerve. If that doesn't happen, your options are either surgery to remove the protruding part or seeing a chiropractor who can work on your alignment to help relieve the pressure on the nerve. Now, look, I don't know your exact situation and I'm definitely not trying to tell you what to do or take any responsibility for your medical choices—I'm just speaking from my own perspective here. But if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't jump straight into surgery, especially since you mentioned you aren't actually in much pain. That stiffness in your neck? Honestly, that happens to pretty much everyone at some point. I’d definitely suggest getting a few more opinions from different specialists before making a final call.
Bryan Rodriguez78 said:Alexander Hall43, I have to ask, why on earth are you so against going through with the surgery? I mean, if things have really gotten that bad, I’ve heard all sorts of scary stories floating around about spinal surgery and neck procedures... but is it truly so dangerous and risky that you feel like you absolutely have to avoid it at any cost??
I don't know the specifics regarding that particular surgery, but honestly, whenever you start messing around near the nerve endings, things can get dicey pretty fast. It only takes one tiny slip involving a nerve and—well, game over. There's also a ton of prep work required before the actual procedure, and since surgery isn't always a permanent fix, I tend to steer clear of it myself. I did read somewhere that they've started using artificial discs in the upper spine area—so, I'm basically just waiting for them to refine that tech enough to use it for the lumbar region, which is where my issues are currently acting up.😵😍 If it's just a simple herniated disc, maybe give a chiropractor a shot—they can often sort that kind of thing out without any major drama.
Bryan Rodriguez78 said:If anyone here has gone through this already or maybe knows a little more about disc herniation, I would be so incredibly grateful if you could share some insight... I know surgery might be on the table eventually, but honestly, I’ve heard such scary stories about those kinds of procedures that I'm feeling pretty anxious about it all
Look, surgery should always be your absolute last resort. As long as you're dealing with "just pain," you're doing okay. My advice? Stick to physical therapy, regular exercises, seeing a chiropractor, or even just hitting the pool—swimming is a lifesaver! You have to manage it proactively. Personally, I have a massive disc issue at L4/L5—basically, there's hardly anything left there—but I am not even considering surgery as long as I can still walk. When the nerve gets pinched, I just have to brace myself. It's not really about "curing" it, if we're being honest; it's more about managing the situation and trying to maintain your current quality of life for as long as possible. Good luck!
Well, standard glasses usually last about $333—I mean, let's be real, those lenses are good for a year and a half, not just one. Regarding hygiene, sure, everything sounds fine on paper, but life happens! You might nod off for a second and end up running late for work—then you’ve got the whole whole ordeal of cleaning your lenses, washing your hands, and getting them in your eyes—and when you're rushing, you'll probably miss the mark... or maybe you head out for a workout and sweat starts stinging your eyes, or you accidentally fall asleep with them in after a few drinks. Look, I'm not trying to lecture you here, it just crossed my mind while I was reading your post.👍
Roger Vaughn said:So, after seven years of rocking glasses with a pretty mild prescription, I’ve finally reached the point where I need to upgrade... though I’ve decided to make the jump to contact lenses—mostly just for the sheer practicality of it all. Now, my main dilemma is WHERE. For instance, I know there’s an EssilorLuxottica over on Fifth Avenue where the exam costs about $67 but they throw in the lenses for free if you buy them through them. Is that actually standard practice for most private boutiques, or is it just their specific thing...? Anyway... I’d love some recommendations for a solid shop—specifically a reliable private practitioner. If it ends up costing me $17 more than expected, I don't really care; what matters to me is that the job is done right from the start. Regarding EssilorLuxottica... I have this slight aversion to those massive, megalomaniac corporations with branches scattered all over the globe. On one hand, I suppose that implies scale, quality, and experience, but on the other—what do they actually care about a single customer who might walk away dissatisfied? Maybe it’s just me, of course, but that’s why I’m asking here... if you guys vouch for them, I’ll go. Generally speaking, I tend to stick to the downtown area and moving toward the south side... which is why I'm hitting up this forum—I really don't want to end up with a "regular guy" on the complete opposite side of the city. If anyone knows a decent spot... please, share your experiences.
By the way... what’s the word on those LensCrafters near the George Washington Bridge? They seem to be the polar opposite of EssilorLuxottica 🙂 ...again, maybe it's just my take 🤷
Thanks in advance
Honestly, for practical reasons, glasses are just easier.🙂With contacts, you have to take them out before bed and then put them back in every morning—and you have to be super careful about hygiene so you don't end up with an eye infection. I just couldn't get used to them; they were constantly bothering me, even when I tried the soft ones. I gave up after two months and went back to glasses. In the long run, a decent pair of glasses will last you five years easily.
Honestly, you could probably find over a hundred articles out there discussing the "positive" aspects of nicotine...
So, hey, enjoy yourself... just try not to inhale it through your lungs, okay?
Look, I never said it wasn't harmful—I just think it’s relatively less damaging than the alternatives, especially when you consider there are about 4,000 toxins in a single cigarette. I totally get that it's incredibly addictive, but being habit-forming doesn't automatically make something uniquely lethal to your body. I mean, coffee is addictive too, and it isn't exactly killing us.
I mean, let's be real—nicotine itself isn't actually the main villain when you look at the rest of a cigarette. It’s especially a different story if you aren't even inhaling it into your lungs.

I mean, I really don't believe in magic wands—you know, those quick fixes that promise everything overnight. Honestly, it feels like you could get the exact same rush from just doing 20 minutes of intense exercise. It gets those endorphins and enkephalins flowing just as well... and the best part? It doesn't cost you a dime.
Sophia Thompson3 said:..well..I officially started my journey today..and I have to admit that after just one hour, I felt an incredibly intense urge to light up, but I managed to force myself to push those thoughts aside..and look at me now, ten hours have passed and I haven't had a single physical craving for a cigarette..so I am feeling hopeful that I can actually pull this off..my plan is to use the highest strength nicotine patches for six weeks, which serves as my initial stepping stone..then I’ll move down to the medium strength for two weeks, followed by the lowest strength for a final two weeks..if I can successfully navigate this entire two-and-a-half-month process, perhaps I will finally be able to function like a normal person again..I have been a smoker for thirty years, consistently using Marlboro..and it truly is high time for me to quit once and for all..though I must say, it is certainly not easy..please wish me luck!🙏
I'm pulling for you, but you can't run from what's coming. You're going to have to face a nicotine withdrawal period sooner or later. It might feel a little less intense since you aren't quitting cold turkey without any help, but definitely be prepared. You've just gotta power through it like everyone else does.🙂
Betty Alvarez78 said:Okay, but those are all external factors, right? I mean, where did he even get that from out of nowhere? Did he catch a cold or something?
Well, I think placidranger actually hit the nail on the head there—maybe he just had a moment of pure clarity!🤣
Betty Alvarez78 said:That’s honestly what I thought at first, but I really do trust him—we live together, so we're pretty much joined at the hip! Honestly, he doesn't even have any symptoms, so I believe him. My doctor says everything looks perfectly clear, too. Sure, I have HPV, but it isn't causing any issues for me, and if we assume he has it too, he's just not showing any signs at all. For the guys out there—is it possible to feel that stinging sensation without it being some kind of STI? And could this potentially be an allergic reaction?
Oh man, this is stressful
I've heard that taking antibiotics can sometimes trigger those kinds of yeast infections.
Betty Alvarez78 said:Of course it’s not exactly fun—it all hurts like crazy, which is just awful—but hey, sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and get through it! So, I see some people over here chatting about the procedures for swab tests and vasectomies—specifically wondering which one hurts more when it comes to women... wait, I think I might have misread that slightly! But anyway, if we're talking about the discomfort levels for these different medical procedures, I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks. Has anyone actually gone through them recently?😍 I’m really curious about what actually prompts someone to get tested—like, what kind of symptoms are we talking about? Specifically, I'm wondering if there are certain issues that are strictly tied to STIs, or if other things can trigger the need for a swab too.
Well, like I mentioned earlier—and I really think this is worth considering—they’re looking for things like yeast infections, *Chlamydia*, and those specific bacteria, *Ureaplasma* and *Mycoplasma*. Honestly, it’s entirely possible he could have picked that up from you and just been carrying it around for years without feeling a single thing until now. It happens more often than you'd think!
Laura Cox said:Hey everyone—I’ve got an X-ray scheduled for my spine tomorrow and I’m low-key stressing out! Does anyone know if I actually have to be completely naked for the scan, or can I just get away with wearing cotton underwear? Please help a girl out!😁
All you're doing is pulling off your shirt and maybe tugging your pants down a bit—you’re still keeping your underwear on! I mean, unless you're dealing with some total weirdo obsessed with X-rays, you aren't going completely naked.🙂.

Oh, I honestly didn't catch that you added the Mioflex to this. When I was typing up my last reply, it looked like there was just something with the m🙂
