rustydrifter10 said:Look, if this is how you approach every single post, then we’ve got a serious issue on our hands. Seriously, quit the ad hominem attacks and try focusing on the actual substance of the post. If you can't manage to do that, you're better off just scrolling past.
velvetbear372 said:Look, man—stop being so aggressive. And please, enough with the trolling.
Provide rustydrifter10 with the evidence she asked for.
The truth is, you simply don't know what you're talking about—do you realize that? It’s embarrassing. Do you understand that you've completely derailed a thread of vital importance? Or that on this current Philosophy board, you're making claims that are totally irrelevant to the subject at hand? Do you grasp that your blatant ignorance—which, I sincerely hope, you aren't spreading in your professional life—is adding absolutely nothing to this community? Honestly, I feel secondhand embarrassment just reading your posts, and I'm embarrassed for anyone else who has to deal with them.
velvetbear372 said:I didn't even notice your post—you aren't exactly high on my priority list.
I'll stand by what I said: you're a case in point.
Exactly. You're a troll, plain and simple, and you're just wrecking the threads.Even if I am talking nonsense, there's still that little icon used to report off-topic posts or spam. Or has insulting, mocking, and trolling suddenly become allowed?
Oh, so now you've discovered the report button? Funny. And you seem to have missed the "ignore" option entirely. I guess harassing people in their private messages is perfectly fine now, is it?
I honestly feel like I could stand behind that statement with total confidence—I really do think you’re absolutely right in this case!
I have to agree with you there—you’re being a total troll and honestly, you're just completely ruining the thread.
So, you finally caught on to the little triangle trick, have you? I guess that’s something! But wait, does that mean you’re still completely in the dark about how the ignore button works? It seems like people think they can just go around upsetting everyone on the forum whenever they feel like it, as if being a nuisance is some kind of permitted hobby here.
velvetbear372 said:Is this stalking? My points are factual. These are my only direct responses to you—though I’ll admit the last one wasn't quoted properly.
I am requesting that this malicious provocateur be sanctioned. Why? Because he specifically targeted me regarding this topic; his posts weren't even present when I first commented on this thread. He knows exactly how to provoke to derail a discussion—which is precisely what he did here, ruining the very thread for which he was granted permission by the FBI.
It is a matter of user conduct.
Why is this being permitted?
Name them.
@moderators Please look into this.

velvetbear372 said:It’s probably a good thing you have some connections over at the FBI.
velvetbear372 said:You really seem like a total charlatan who doesn't have the slightest clue how actual science works.
velvetbear372 said:
Unfortunately, your only skill seems to be Googling things.
velvetbear372 said:It is incredibly low of you to open this thread—making these rude, pathetic accusations that I am stalking you—while playing dumb. Under the forum’s general terms of use, specifically in section 15, acting in bad faith is prohibited, just as harassing other users is forbidden under section 13. I vehemently reject these claims; the threads I comment on have always been strictly dedicated to philosophy and natural science. In truth, I think you are targeting me by pretending to be some victim driven by twisted motives.
Since this individual keeps messaging my inbox to tell me to leave him alone—which makes no sense because I haven't bothered him—while simultaneously posting nonsense and playing ignorant about the "ignore" function I suggested, his behavior is irrational. He clearly ignores the ignore tool, considering that since his first inbox request (following our initial interaction on a thread after he was unbanned weeks ago), I haven't even once quoted one of his posts. How, then, can he claim I am commenting on him?
Furthermore, since I have been insulted so intellectually aggressively—and given that I regularly follow the science threads—I will take this opportunity to state that this user effectively destroyed my highly engaged and high-quality thread (and please, do not mistake this for some morbid excuse or alibi for the thread he has opened here) within the science section, which resulted in his permanent ban (which you have since lifted), and which the moderators now refuse to reopen. I have nothing against the man personally; he can post whatever garbage he likes, provided he doesn't complain when someone comments on that garbage or mocks him for constant off-topic rambling. I am the last person who would engage in the behavior I am being accused of, and I view this entire situation as an insult and blatant trolling aimed at me.
I have addressed his off-topic remarks perhaps two or three times—without using quotes—which is standard practice given the nonsense he typically writes, on the thread belonging to the Philosophy section.
It seems we are seeing a new level of his mission to disrupt both the community and the discussions.
I do not intend to participate in this debate any further; this is all I have to say regarding this matter. As the attached evidence shows, this person has leaked private information and essentially baited me into this. This is a legitimate issue—it is evident the man has developed a fixation, likely because he believes his partiality in the science section is due to me, which it is not. (I reported the harassment via private message on 5.3.)
Best regards,
nimbleridge5 said:At its core, this is really just about looking at things practically. You basically just put all the factors on a scale and see which side carries more weight.
On one hand, you have this authoritarian, somewhat flamboyant leader who chased off the local farmers—which was a massive blunder because it permanently crippled the Midwest—and dealt with the Italians (though some might say they got exactly what they bargained for). He didn't spend much energy defending those who collaborated with the Nazis after the war either, nor did he seem to care much about the fates of those fleeing alongside them—honestly, the list of crimes is endless. It’s funny how people tend to pick on the losers, especially when they were so deeply compromised themselves. I mean, who was out there feeling sorry for the conquistadors when, in rare instances, they caught a beating from the Native Americans? How would the elites of our society react if they had their own camps and were busy wiping out the American intellectual elite alongside everyone else who fell into their hands? Even Douglas MacArthur ended up facing the ultimate judgment in the eyes of civilization for us Americans, and women were publicly shamed just for being with the occupiers.
He ruled with a firmer hand, sure, but nothing that couldn't be compared to other leaders in American history. And honestly, looking at how chaotic things are today, you could argue that a firm hand is actually the best way to manage such a fractured nation.
On the flip side, thanks to his leadership, you get almost perfect territorial integrity, an infrastructure that was kept up and even improved (take the massive expansion of the national power grid and dam projects compared to the single aging plant we used to rely on), and generally the easiest standard of living among all the countries that were once behind the Iron Curtain.
As a little bonus, you can point out that he was respected and held in high regard by the entire world, even by the Nazis themselves 😲 (though it feels like some people here are even bigger fascists than Hitler—pardon me, I meant Himmler 😁), and even most Americans weren't exactly throwing parades back in May of '80 🙂
To me, it’s perfectly clear where the scale tips and which of these factors actually matters more.
nimbleridge5 said:Honestly, you’re just living in some weird fever dream if you think that guy—who, let’s be real, basically played dress-up as a monk to escape through the woods toward the border—is some kind of hero. There are plenty of people out there who actually feel grateful that he built and maintained a decent, stable nation, and frankly, they wouldn't know how to deal with people like you if they were facing off against someone from the WWII era.
It’s pretty obvious you sound like a total Martian based on the way you write, using these bizarre sentence structures and trying to equate things that are completely incomparable.
There is a massive difference between an entire nation looking at you with disdain and being targeted by a tiny handful of frustrated extremists who seem to find their only purpose in life through pure hatred and clinging to where they were born because they haven't actually achieved anything worth mentioning on their own merit.
And then, when you throw in a sadistic psychopath like Stalin, an idealist revolutionary, and that paranoid dictator Hoxha into the mix, you end up with this nonsensical mess that doesn't have anything to do with the actual American left.
Matthew Castillo5 said:Based on that specific definition, I’m a total leftist. And if we’re going by the assumption that conservatives are uneducated, then I guess I fit that description too.
I honestly have no idea why anyone would ever categorize me as being on the right. 🤷
Side note: here in America, terms like "left" and "right" carry a completely different weight than how they're used in the rest of the world.
If you want to get into deep dives about how much the entire nation supposedly loved Mao Zedong (which is a bold claim considering how many people he purged), or why his followers eventually turned on him, we should probably move this conversation over to the History subforum.
Thomas Nelson25 said:It’s all about the system.
I already laid out my reasoning.
Why would anyone actually want an authoritative government? That's the question.
..well, it's what the conservatives are pushing for—and honestly, the psychology behind it is pretty fascinating because certain types of people just gravitate toward those specific ideas.
?
Thomas Nelson25 said:There's basically zero chance the average Westerner is going to ditch freedom and individualism. Most of the new right-wing platforms are pretty weak—mostly just paranoid nonsense about alien invasions or whatever—and even if they weren't, people just self-censor. They're too scared of being labeled fascists to actually own their views. It's mass psychology at work. Honestly, nothing much will change because politics and the global order are ultimately driven by the market and tech.
If you look at it objectively, the typical citizen in the West—especially in places like Canada or Northern Europe—is arguably the most evolutionarily advanced version of Homo sapiens. And that's largely thanks to liberal democracy.
The real question is... where do we fit into all this? If you look at the psychological games politicians play with the public, it's all just total fake news.
Joseph Bailey41 said:Alright, that’s how it works in the USA. But what about how we refer to people here?
Joseph Bailey41 said:I took his post quite differently—it felt more like someone was calling him out for not wanting to stick to politically correct terms, like using "African American," for example. But honestly, it might be best if Bradley Nelson2 just clarifies what he actually meant.

Has anyone actually bullied or discriminated against you just because you wouldn't use certain buzzwords? 🤔
