Best speakers under $75 (ideally Bose, 60W+) in Computer Peripherals ·
I’ve got the Logitech setup and honestly, they’re killer. They totally blew past what I was expecting. If you aren't obsessed with having something that shakes the entire room, just go for it.
Those SP-HF 3000A units look even better to me (though I guess maybe they aren't actually more powerful, damn😁), so those could work too.

Exactly. That's the thing.🤣

I’d probably throw Pier Paolo Pasolini's *Sodom* onto my list too. I mean, the message behind the movie really hits home and makes you think, but man... there are some scenes in there that I definitely wouldn't want to sit through a second time. 😢

If I had to pick out the absolute most boring, annoying, or just plain terrible movies I've sat through, here’s my list:

Forrest Gump
JFK - Gladiator
JFK - Gladiator
- Everything from that whole run of Aliens, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and the rest of the crew.
Jaws
Jaws - Scream franchise

*Aliens* has absolutely nothing to do with that "crew" people keep talking about. I guess some folks just want to force connections where they don't exist, but honestly, it’s just not there.☕

Ethan Parker47 said:I agree—the roommate was definitely taken out brutally. I went back to check, but the explanation is already there: it was premeditated. Still, he was basically a CIA think tank guy.

I also agree the movie is fantastic right up until the tunnel reveal. That’s when the quality drops from greatness down to a solid three out of ten.

Even though that kind of ending was predictable—not necessarily because of Hollywood mainstream tropes, but because of that typical American structural functionalism (the message to the average American that they can, and must, trust the system) and sheer pragmatism (the Mayor calling a session to find extra-legal solutions to "Clyde's problem" and Nick setting up Clyde in solitary)—I was really hoping for something more along the lines of Fincher.

Here’s what I was actually looking for: Clyde kills them all—including Nick's family—except for Nick himself. This would drive Nick into the same existential void Clyde is trapped in, forcing him to drop his "cool, powerful" persona and descend to the level of a criminal. Then, Nick kills Clyde, but it's too late; everyone has already been punished, and Clyde has achieved his goal. All that's left for Clyde is death, which serves to push Nick outside the law and deliver one final blow to the last remaining villain (that little cog in a broken system).

Anyway, that’s how I pictured the end halfway through the film, and I have to admit—I was pretty disappointed. 😢

Well, he isn't Joker.😁

For me, Fight Club was my absolute favorite movie for a while (I actually felt like the world looked different after watching it)... but when I rewatched it for the third or fourth time a few months ago, it didn't hit me quite as hard as it used to. Now, it's "only" a 9 out of 10 for me.🙂

Personally, every time I watch it, it gets better and better. There's always some new frame or a tiny detail I missed. It's such a complex film. Absolute genius at work.

Man, if I could just wipe my memory, go back in time, watch Fight Club in a theater, walk out, light up a cigarette, and finally realize that I’m never going to see anything anywhere near that good again.🙏
Why I can't stand Adam Sandler (Part 2) in Movies ·
Personally, I think I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and Click are actually great movies. I’ve always been a fan of Adam Sandler, too. As for Water Carrier, you could probably argue that it's just an extreme mockery of American football, high school culture, cheerleaders, and all that other nonsense.

Unfortunately (or maybe luckily), I have this habit where I have to rewatch movies a few years after seeing them because they just slip my mind completely. And yeah, I’m talking about the actually great ones here.
I also have certain films I watch on a weekly basis (like >), some monthly (like > or >), and then there's the stuff I'd watch every single day if it were on TV—you know, the whole >, >, and those other 80s and 90s action icons.
As for the classics, I watched > ages ago and really need to revisit it. I started watching >, but it was airing too late on TV and I ended up passing out.
I’d probably rewatch > if it came on while I had absolutely nothing else going on, though it is pretty heavy.
As for >, I probably won't ever watch that one again in my entire life.😁

It’s a really solid thriller, but I guess the story could have been a bit punchier and more believable.
The ending was just stupid.

Bread Pitt?

By the way, Titanic really stands out from the rest of Cameron's filmography.

What kind of stupid poll is this even supposed to be? It’s all the exact same movie anyway...
The X-Men series (2000-2019) in Movies ·
Dennis Cooper3 said:Wait, what on earth are you talking about? 😁

Hey, Kate Harris4, why did you decide to scrap that poll about the Lord of the Rings trilogy?

It's pretty simple, really—I can't tell them apart, especially since they're all equally great.
I guess I just never understood people who actually bother trying to differentiate them.😁
Why is everyone hating on xxx so much? Honestly, I thought the movie was surprisingly decent for its genre—though I guess that’s probably 90% thanks to Diesel's work, even if the female lead gave what might be the worst performance ever recorded... anywhere.
And Bloodrayne is awesome, and we all know exactly why.😉

Ugh... way too aggressive and forced... It really could have been so much better.
War Movies in Movies ·
You didn't even mention my top pick for a war movie, Beautiful Village, Beautiful Mountain. Honestly, you're missing a ton of great titles here.
I also have a soft spot for Enemy at the Gates and Saving Private Ryan. I watched Apocalypse Now a long time ago, so I probably should give it another look. As for Full Metal Jacket, I wouldn't call it a "real" war movie, but man, it’s still an excellent film.
But honestly, none of them have the strength of the village.
The X-Men series (2000-2019) in Movies ·
I think Wolverine is garbage, and as for those other three movies... I honestly have no clue. I don't really bother distinguishing between films when they're part of a trilogy.😁
Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, the X-Men series... to me, they all just feel like one big movie.😁
If people from the islands started talking amongst themselves, I probably wouldn't understand a single word until tomorrow.
I can't make heads or tails of what those Highlanders say, either.
Same goes for folks from the Coast.
I can follow people from Washington, D.C., but that local dialect combined with all those weird inflections is just a disaster. I usually just end up smirking and trying my best not to laugh out loud.

Matthew Anderson4 said:Bad reviews on the news sites too

but honestly, screw those wannabe critics. just listen to Ebert 👍 🤣

It’s being pitched as an indie flick, which is right up my alley—I absolutely live for movies like Juno, Charlie Bartlett, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Plus, I’m a huge fan of that whole wave of smart comedies; you know, stuff like Knocked Up, Superbad, or Click. Basically, if it involves Paul Rudd, Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, or Michael Cera—and their whole circle of curly-haired Jewish guys and friends—I'm probably going to love it. This looks like it'll be top-tier.
The Proposal (2009) in Movies ·
This could’ve been way better, honestly, though I guess it works fine if you're just looking to kill an evening. It’s pretty predictable, lacks any real momentum, and some of the scenes felt super forced. That said, Sandra Bullock is gorgeous, and I’ve always liked Ryan Reynolds, so I can live with it. 6/10
