Kevin Perez2 said:I mean, if you look at it from a different angle, the movie is actually great. All I'm saying is there are better films out there than The Godfather—even those mafia flicks we see all over the US—but hey, I guess everyone has their own taste.

I was being sarcastic, for crying out loud.
analogpilot16 said:Look, I'm gonna need all the Watchmen fans to forgive me for thinking their precious little movie isn't all that.
I mean, what am I supposed to get out of a superhero flick where the only real "power" is some guy changing the pattern on his sock hat—you know, the guy whose name I didn't even bother learning? (And don't get me started on that blue Automan who basically just delivers monologues the entire time.)
Is maybe The Comedian actually interesting? Or that big guy with the braces? Or are people just obsessing over the girl in the latex outfit?
I'm sorry, but the movie is Your Loss ☕

Your Loss...
Kevin Perez2 said:😲please😲 the movie had potential and it used it, whether you like it or not. It’s top-tier filmmaking; you can really see all that controversy and personality baked in. It's honestly just stunning.

Yeah, absolutely fascinating, a total masterpiece of celluloid. A flawless adaptation, right up there with The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption.🙄
Kevin Perez2 said:First post here, so I might as well talk movies. Since I’m probably the biggest film expert on this entire board, I’m putting my money on Ghost Rider and Spider-Man being the absolute best adaptations out there—they're totally mind-blowing.

Those two movies are complete garbage, especially Ghost Rider. It’s basically up there with those Michael Dudikoff flicks—which are decent enough if you like trash—but Ghost Rider? That one is just straight-up trash.

I haven't gotten around to watching Watchmen yet, unfortunately.

😲

Give me a break! 😁

If you still haven't seen them by now, maybe just wait for the four-and-a-half-hour director's cut to drop around Christmas.👍
Ronald Morales51 said:A lot of those movies listed are actually great; I’ve always been a fan of superhero flicks.
But I'm leaning toward Superman since he's just the strongest 🙂 😬 honestly, I think he's the coolest hero on this whole list,
and we're talking about a total classic here.
In my humble opinion, it's a genius film.
I'll admit the others have quality too, but this was basically my first dive into the genre, and I was obsessed.

Actually, Dr. Manhattan could probably teleport Superman 16 times and take him apart molecule by molecule and put him back together 12 times before the guy even realized what was happening.😛
Redom; Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Batman (Burton).

Sandra Patel23 said:The movie finally landed a distributor! And honestly, it’s all thanks to the massive fan base of Rupert Grint. They were out there signing petitions and making sure this thing actually hits major theaters instead of just circling the indie festival circuit. It's set to release next year. I really think this is one of those solid, interesting films that's actually worth your time.

Hip hip hooray!😍

Wait, next year?😠
Eh, whatever. If I could wait half a year for something, I can probably hang on a little longer.😁
I’m going with 20406080. Honestly, I'm probably the coolest one here.

David Price5 said:Look, here’s the most important thing—if you don't get this right, none of the rest even matters:make sure you're actually rested and relaxed when you sit down to watch a movie. Don't come crying to me if you think a film is trash just because you decided to watch it at 3:00 AM. :-)

I basically did the same thing to Fargo. I watched it at 2:00 in the morning after a super stressful day and four beers. Honestly, I'll never forgive myself for that one.😢
Warhammer 40,000 in Movies ·
Honestly, this one caught me off guard. I was fully expecting a complete waste of time, but it actually turned out to be a really solid movie. The visuals are top-tier, the atmosphere is spot on, and I don't really care about a few clichés—that’s never been an issue for me. In my opinion, it's better than a lot of those hyped-up blockbusters you hear everyone talking about.

Really fun movie. It’s a great way to kill some time if you're having a boring afternoon or evening.

David Price5 said:It’s actually a bit tougher than it looks. You just don't know which factors to weigh anymore. I mean, just look at how much the way we consume movies has changed over the last decade—moving mostly to streaming—compared to thirty years ago when it was all about video rentals. Anyway, that list was strictly focused on the USA..

I mean, there’s a ton of stuff to consider. For starters, you’ve got the ratio of average wages to the cost of a movie ticket back then versus now, actual inflation, and so on... basically, it's complicated. And once you really dig into it, you realize the whole thing doesn't make that much sense—like, saying a movie from 2009 made this much and calling it a day. It’s just not that simple. 😁

David Price5 said:http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm

Something feels off here again. It seems like they just adjust everything based on today's ticket prices, which is honestly pretty stupid if you ask me. Based on those numbers, it looks like Gone with the Wind sold about 200 million tickets in the USA back in 1939. I mean, the US only had about 130 million people living there at the time.
Then again, if someone actually tried to calculate the real numbers, I guess even that wouldn't be easy.

Honestly, the sheer number of animated movies on this list catches me off guard. It never really crossed my mind that something like Ice Age could pull in that kind of cash, even if it is a top-tier film... I guess I just underestimated the box office power of animation.

So, I'm looking at this IMDb list right now, and honestly, it’s kind of useless. Since they haven't adjusted the numbers for inflation, it doesn't really mean much for anything released before 1990. I guess if you want an accurate picture, you have to do the math yourself.

Hands down, one of the best films of the year.

I am truly pleased to see that Robert Luketic has finally delivered another superior film following his work on Legally Blonde!

My boyfriend is an addict in Psychology ·
Kenneth Brooks9 said:Alright, look... I’m in deep trouble here. I’ve been with my boyfriend for three years now, and we’re currently going through his methadone rehab—again. This is the second time. I’m right there with him at the psychiatrist appointments, trying my absolute best to wrap my head around this whole mess, but honestly? I’m terrified it’s just not working. I’ve never touched drugs myself—never even gone near them—so I have zero clue what it actually feels like, which makes it ten times harder to get where he's coming from. All I know is, seeing it firsthand, it is incredibly hard to walk away... at least mentally. Look, I love him, and I always will, regardless of everything, but I am just so sick of the constant lying. I really, truly want to help him and stay by his side, but I’m lost. I know he wants to quit—he really does—but then he’ll stay clean for a year, and then boom, it’s back to square one. I can't help but feel like he just doesn't have the backbone for this, and his "friends" keep dragging him right back into it... I’m begging anyone who’s dealt with this before to please give me some advice. What do I do? Do I walk away, or do I keep fighting for him???

Look, being brutally honest here? Your chances of a happy ending are less than 1%. First off, he probably won't ever fully quit. Or if he does, he'll relapse at least once a year. That's just a fact. Very few people actually make it; most people just screw themselves over completely and take everyone around them down with them.
You can sacrifice your entire life trying to "help" him, but nobody can help him except himself.
And again, being totally blunt: just walk away. Let go of this need to save him. Sure, everyone deserves a second chance, but after 3 years, I guess he's had plenty of them. You're young, you've got your whole life ahead of you—just dump him and move on. It simply isn't worth it, because he'll be a prince on a golden throne long before he's a prince on a white horse. Dammit.

coppernomad28 said:Look, it's basically a movie about junkies in the USA.
It stars Obi-Wan Kenobi—wait, no, sorry, I mean Ewan McGregor (back when he was actually young, shot in '96, right around the time you finally ditched the cartoons 🙂).

Here's the link for you:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117951/

Fair warning though! The movie is brutally realistic.

Actually, not really. It's more like a "cool" depiction of a drug addict's life with a few gritty scenes thrown in. Kind of like how Guy Ritchie doesn't really make realistic movies about criminals.😉
Try Requiem for a Dream.

Hell yeah. 😉

For sure.

Also, Gary Oldman in Leon—his character is Stansfield. That performance is... just incredible.🙏

Or Tchéky Karyo playing Inspector Sauveur Cristini in Dobermann. Man, he was a total psycho.

So, apparently Monica Bellucci and her dear Vincent wanted to film some kind of adult movie (kind of like a follow-up to 😁), but they supposedly backed out because nobody was taking them seriously or something like that.
