Susan Clark10 said:Since Mando Diazo confirmed Hurricane and Southside yesterday—right just a few days before Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival—I wouldn't be surprised if the promoters buy them out from Arsomnia and bring them to a massive venue like Central Park instead.

By the way, Kawasaki 3P is officially confirmed.

Um, I think Mando Diazo is actually scheduled for Boogaloo in February, especially since they canceled their November dates. I'm not so sure they'd want to pull a trip to the States just a few months apart. 🤷

Wow, Kawasaki 3P? Now I can finally sleep easy!
The Kaiser Chiefs, yeah 🤣

I really don't think it would be a smart move to bring back Placebo or Muse; we've already had them. Honestly, I highly doubt Muse would even consider coming back here, especially if you look at how half-empty Madison Square Garden was when they played last time, lol.
If I recall correctly, everything was totally fine with the announcement last year.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if they booked at least half of this year's Coachella lineup. 😍 I'm talking about acts like The xx, Julian Casablancas, or maybe even Thom Yorke... honestly, I don't know, I’ll definitely be there regardless! I just really hope there's at least one band on the bill that I actually love.

Also, there seems to be a lot of buzz going around about Arcade Fire, hmm.

rustywalker42 said:Anyway, was Rowan Atkinson acting like some kind of guardian angel here?

I honestly get the feeling he was being slow on purpose, just to stop that guy from buying the necklace for the woman, and then later on, he even helped out that little kid at the airport.

Hmm, I hadn't really thought about it that way! That’s definitely possible, and wouldn't that be just incredibly sweet? 😁

I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes, Christmas is all around me... 🤣

This movie is absolutely brilliant. It’s become a total tradition for me to sit down and watch it every single year right before Christmas arrives. 🙂
Law Abiding Citizen (2009) in Movies ·
Super movie. It isn’t exactly a masterpiece, but it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat, and I think I actually enjoyed seeing Gerard Butler in this one—especially with that rock n' roll vibe.

Andrew Roberts3 said:I honestly think all three movies are just as good, so I'm sitting this vote out.

I feel the same way. 😍

However, in my opinion, the third one is just pure genius! I actually went into it thinking the jokes might feel a bit stale by now, but it seems like they just tapped into even more inspiration and experience with this installment. Plus, the third film is the only one I've actually sat through twice!

It isn't exactly my usual genre, but I have to admit, I’m really digging it.

It’s not like I was expecting anything subpar from Homme. 🙂
Bon Iver in Music ·
I think I see where you're coming from. 🙂

Honestly, I’d probably head out to see him live too, even though I’m not usually the type to chase down festival lineups featuring those kinds of acts. It’s hard for me to picture someone like Beirut or Bill Callahan sharing a stage at Coachella alongside a group like MGMT. It isn't about whether the bands are good—they clearly are—it's just that their specific sound feels much more suited for an intimate, small-club setting rather than a massive festival crowd.

Kyle Jackson54 said:Look, there’s nothing wrong with hearing music played on MTV, but the issue arises when an artist starts acting like an MTV superstar. That excessive need to over-communicate with the crowd, or demanding that the audience belt out lyrics that were meant to be heard in the quiet intimacy of one's own home while they're performing their most vulnerable work... I don't know. Up until the moment I saw Bon Iver live, I honestly thought the person who told me the live show was pretentious garbage was totally wrong. However, I have to admit that since August (Coachella), I haven't really listened to much Bon Iver, and I don't think I will anymore. At least, not with the same intensity I used to.

Well, I actually find myself quite envious of the fact that you got to see him live!
So, what are you suggesting then? Should he just stop playing festivals altogether? Is his only calling to play tiny little gigs for twenty people in a basement?
Bon Iver in Music ·
I’m just speaking in general terms here, because there's a real possibility they might end up crafting an album that feels a bit too "pop" or overly polished for the MTV crowd if it starts getting massive mainstream traction, similar to what happened with i & W. (Don't get me wrong, i & W. is still wonderful, but you know what I mean! ;D)

However, I don't think we're going to see some sort of "epidemic" of this sound anytime soon. Their voice and style are just so incredibly niche; it isn't the kind of music that easily captures the masses—unless, of course, we're talking about Flume - Skinny Love. 😍
Bon Iver in Music ·
I mean, come on, you’ve got Grizzly Bear and Editors on the soundtrack, so if only the movie itself actually had some quality, right? But whatever. 😢

Honestly, my only real concern is that the new album isn't a complete disaster; I truly couldn't care less who ends up listening to it. 😁
Bon Iver in Music ·
I love you 😍

He was actually one of the first musicians who really kicked off my whole folk obsession, right alongside Devendra, Feist, and Fleet Foxes. But that's beside the point.

Honestly, it’s hard to find a bad track from Emma. That said, Flume - Skinny Love, Stacks, and Wolves are definitely my absolute favorites.

I think I'm going to go ahead and put him on right now after such a long break. 😁
Really? A Bear Grylls? 🙂
Chloe Alvarez said:Who do you think might headline next year? I heard some rumors about Foo Fighters and Maroon 5... honestly, it sounds almost too good to be true! 😳

Foo Fighters could work, provided they don't insist on playing all the stuff from the new album. But let's face it, they will, so they probably shouldn't bother coming. ☕

wiredsailor95 said:Personally, I’d much rather see someone like The Killers or a similar vibe.😁

They've already played here several times, so I seriously doubt people would want to see them again in our neck of the woods.

Kenneth Williams60 said:It would be incredible... if they even brought out Sigur Ros, everything would be absolutely perfect. 😍

Seeing them live would be a dream, but I'm afraid they aren't really cut out for this kind of festival circuit. Let's be realistic—putting THEM on the same lineup as Lily Allen or Art Brut? I'd much rather they just put together a massive standalone concert. Like, at a major arena. 😍 Yeah, right.
Who has the best characterization? in Movies ·
Most of you have already covered these, but I’ll throw a few more into the mix!

Benicio Del Toro - Javier in 'Traffic'
C. Bal as a young actor in Empire of the Sun
Al Pacino as Carlito in Carlito's Way (and also Tony in Scarface, though I know most of you already mentioned him)
Kevin Spacey in American Beauty (ever since that role, I can't help but picture him as Lester in every movie he does)
Johnny Depp as Sparrow in Pirates (even though the film isn't really my style, his performance is pure genius)
Emir Hadžihafisbegović in Armin (absolutely stellar acting, truly no complaints there)
Tom Cruise in Collateral
Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne in 'Shawshank'
Bill Murray as Bob Harris in 'Lost in Translation'
Jamie Bell as Billy Elliott

...there are plenty more where those came from, but these just popped into my head, and I don't want to start repeating what everyone else has already said.

By the way, I honestly think this thread should be titled "The Best Performances Ever Performed..."

To feels more like emo-core to me. I remember going through a phase where I used to listen to Propan Nightmares quite a bit, but honestly, I just can't get past his vocals. It feels like they’d actually sound way better if they didn't have a vocalist at all. 🤷
Dennis Doyle3 said:I make it a point to steer clear of those subpar American TV dramas that air on PBS on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 PM. You know the type—something like Jane Doe: Fighting for my Children (I'm just making up the title, but you get the vibe). Lately, I’ve also been dodging those movies about natural disasters—floods, storms, earthquakes, all that nonsense. Ever since a few high-budget blockbusters hit that trope, there's been a massive wave of cheap knockoffs, usually masquerading as miniseries. And don't even get me started on romantic comedies; out of every hundred, I might catch one, and even then, it'll probably be on TV.

😁 Exactly! It’s always that exact same trope where the son has leukemia, so the mother has to scour the entire city from top to bottom just to find a cure or something. For instance, I actually thought John Q was a pretty solid movie dealing with a similar theme.
This is such an engaging topic! Some points have already been touched upon, but here is a list of things I personally tend to steer clear of.
I’ve just never been a fan of Westerns, if I'm being honest. I realize that makes me miss out on Sergio Leone and his iconic masterpieces, but truly, every single one I've attempted to watch felt incredibly tedious. Plus, they always seem to drag on forever.
I also can't stand those "historical epics" like Alexander the Great, King Arthur, or even movies about Jesus—you name it. I don't necessarily regret skipping them since I hear the reviews are usually pretty poor, but generally speaking, those films about kings and pharaohs just don't appeal to me. Now, WWII movies are a completely different story; those actually fascinate me.
Then there's the whole action star era: Dolph Lundgren, Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jackie Chan...
Musicals? Never. And as for kids' movies, the only ones I'll touch are certain animated features like Shrek, Finding Nemo, or WALL-E (though, let's be real, WALL-E isn't even really just for kids). 😁
Oh, and black-and-white films. People often call me out for this, but I just find that watching something in black-and-white is a fundamentally different experience than watching something in color.
I'm also not into the Matrixes or Terminators—anything involving robots or people with superpowers.

Regarding directors, I don't really have anyone I particularly love or specifically avoid. When I sit down to watch a movie, the director's name isn't actually that important to me.

David Price5 said:Or maybe they were just way too scary! ;-)

Exactly, I was thinking the same thing! "Terrible" can mean many things, but this was that specific kind of brutal, gut-wrenching terror. Just gives me the chills.
