Movies you couldn't even finish in Movies ·
Oh, there are just so many! 🤣 I’ll just list a few of those cult classics and heavy hitters that I haven't quite managed to sit through yet.

2001: A Space Odyssey. Good grief, I have started this movie three separate times and yet I have never actually finished it.

Citizen Kane—honestly, a bit of a snooze fest. 😢

Scent of a Woman—also pretty tedious if you ask me.

No Country for Old Men
Eyes Wide Shut
Saving Private Ryan

...plus a whole bunch of horror films that were simply too terrifying for me to watch until the end. 🤣
What have we learned from movies? in Movies ·

Oh, absolutely. 🙏

And let’s not forget the classic movie trope: whenever the villain finally corners the poor underdog he’s been chasing through the whole film—he's got the guy cornered, he's got the gun pointed right at him, he has every opportunity to end it—he never just pulls the trigger! No, instead, he spends the next ten agonizing minutes delivering a dramatic monologue about everything that happened, repeating things like, "I finally have you... now you will pay!" And, of course, that’s exactly when the hero manages to pull off some miraculous escape.
Borat, Brüno, or Ali G: Who's the best? in Movies ·
Matthew Anderson4 said:I'm not even really a fan of these movies, but Ali G is definitely the best character.

I couldn't agree more! Personally, I thought the Ali G show was absolutely brilliant, but the movie itself felt like a total miss. Now, Borat was an incredible character, but the film was just a bit "too much" for my taste—it wasn't really my thing. As for Bruna, I probably won't even bother watching it.

I really love this list! 😁

I would just add Fight Club to the mix. Honestly, five films is far too small a selection for such an important choice!

But honestly, 🙂
if you haven't heard a single one of their songs before this performance, then I'll give you a pass. Even I felt like they were trying way too hard, and I absolutely love them—so I can't imagine how it feels for those of you who aren't even fans.
urbannomad30 said:The Men were actually pretty decent (maybe 1.5 stars?), though I honestly expected a total disaster at first because the vocals sounded so thin (words spilled from my drunken mouth 😳 ). It felt like they just started playing that new track 🤮 and then—inevitably, of course, including the rest of the set 🙄—they completely abandoned the guitars, which is exactly why people love them in the first place! 🤷
And for the record, @restlessranger30/">@@restlessranger30, the crowd wasn't bad at all; they were just dragging the band along at the start, but since quite a few people knew the choruses, it really helped pull them through 😁. Personally, I had a great time! 👍

For me, the biggest letdown was seeing them shove those songs from the new album into the setlist—songs that nobody knows (and aren't even that good, if you ask me)—instead of throwing in a few more of their old, wonderful classics 😍

I don't know, everyone around me seemed totally checked out, and nobody knew anything except maybe the Smokers, which resulted in them staring at me weirdly while I was practically screaming my lungs out 😁. I noticed some people on the other side of the floor who were jumping around and singing along; I really wish I’d been over there! :/

Anyway, overall, I think I prefer them on record rather than live 😢
Carol Myers98 said:Oh, come on, don't be like that! I already knew all along—I absolutely adore them! 😍😍 Regarding the setlist—I have to agree with you there. It definitely could have been better. 🤷 To be perfectly honest, I have to say I was a little disappointed. Look, I’ve been listening to them for ages and I genuinely love their music—I was honestly counting down the days until their set—but they just felt so forced tonight. To me, it seemed like they were completely checked out, almost like they were just going through the motions rather than actually performing. 🤷 ...

I have to say, I’m just as disappointed as everyone else here. I completely agree that they came across as totally checked out. Look, I get it—this isn't exactly the kind of band that’s going to jump around and scream, "Put your hands in the air!" at the crowd. But man, they really overdid it with those choreographed movements. Instead of actually engaging the audience or building some kind of tension, it just felt forced and superficial. They missed a huge opportunity to actually intrigue the crowd.

🙂 It seems I’m certainly not the only one on this forum with a massive soft spot for the Editors, haha!

I have to say, it was honestly pretty soul-crushing. The people I was hanging out with didn't even know what Racing Rats or Munich were... it was just such an awkward, isolating experience.
My Review 😁

Lily was boring, though she’s cute and easy on the eyes—but honestly, pass.
Since my boyfriend is obsessed with Kraftwerk, I tagged along for a bit, but my neck was practically locked up from just swaying; that's really all you can do with that kind of music.
XYZ—not totally happy with them. They completely botched Black Tongue, but Skeletons 😍 was absolutely wonderful.
Franz Ferdinand put on an EXCELLENT set. 🙏 Out of everyone I saw, they were the only ones who actually acted like they gave a damn. I don't even listen to them that much, and the way they dragged out one song was a little annoying, but they were genuinely likable performers.

And then there was yesterday...

Art Brut—their songs were boring as hell, though they themselves were great. 😬
Huge props to the singer for the banter and the way he engaged in some Melange with the crowd.
Nerd - Kroejjjšaaaa was a pleasant surprise. I don't listen to them at all, but they really put in the work yesterday, aside from that pathetic moment where they kept dragging those random girls onto the stage 😬 but hey, I guess we can chalk that up to their musical style...
Moby was okay, though I can't tell if it's just me or if his set felt a bit rushed and half-assed.

Now, for Editors. I knew you guys would lose your minds over this. 😍
Their performance actually caught me off guard; the singer was working so hard, like a mix between Chris Martin and Ian Curtis. Since I adore them normally, I had a blast. The atmosphere was total crap because nobody seemed to know a single song, and the setlist was terrible (four brand new tracks instead of throwing in "Blood" or "All Sparks"), but personally, I loved it.
If I didn't already love them, I probably would have hated it too. 😬

Also, the festival organization was solid.
My Bloody Valentine 3D in Movies ·
To be honest, the movie itself was pretty mediocre... but since it was my first time catching a film in 3D at the theater, the whole experience was absolutely fantastic. It made for such a wonderful atmosphere for Valentine's Day. 😁
