And yeah, those "nuances" are entirely up to the mods. They decided the thread was turning into just another mindless chatroom and shut it down. If you hate that kind of attitude, maybe just don't post in that subforum. Problem solved. What am I even supposed to say?

The Music subforum actually has a few different chat threads—they're basically just for talking about stuff that doesn't even have to be about music.
They are:
Latest NP (NP = Now Playing) - this is where everyone posts what they're listening to right now, and it's pretty much our main hangout. You can talk about whatever.
Pitchfork vs Garbage - a thread for everything else. It's the "Now Playing" spot for prog rockers, extremists, and teenagers.
Personal Top Lists - a place to dump all your rankings, whether they're about music or just random life stuff.
Personal Ratings - a thread for rating anything and everything, musical or otherwise.
Dreams - a place to recount dreams, usually the ones where other people from the Music forum show up.
