No.

Perhaps you should attempt a month dedicated solely to advanced bodyweight movements... because consider this: narrow-grip pull-ups essentially force your biceps to move your entire body mass—not to mention your back, making it quite a complex exercise—and I wonder if you can truly replicate that intensity with weights alone?

Ethan Garcia8, perhaps this is simply a matter of your own physiology; for instance, in my experience training at Gold's Gym, 😁 I find that my capacity increases significantly provided I incorporate a rest day between sessions... 🙂

It seems we have finally reached the inevitable conclusion that any form of basic recreational sport combined with a farm-to-table diet is the ultimate answer... ☕

Exactly 😁

Ethan Garcia8 said:On what grounds? A gym offers such an overwhelming array of exercises and routines that it’s frankly dizzying... Cycling and running are just monotonous repetitions, either fast or slow. 🙂 A gym encompasses everything—running, cycling, you name it.

I’d much rather ride through the countryside, maybe stop at a local pub for a beer, and grab some burgers on the way home... at least I actually see the sun out there, unlike grinding away on a stationary bike or pacing on a treadmill in some windowless gym...

Look, if you’re putting in an hour or so three to four times a week—say, 40 minutes of bodyweight stuff paired with some running or cycling—you'll find that it's actually far more effective for weight loss than grinding away in a gym... As for building mass, that isn't even the gym's responsibility, it's all about what you eat... And honestly, I don't think there's any greater physical strain than attempting a one-arm pull-up, which is what actual compound movements are meant to be... Trying to hammer out curls or extensions with a 150-pound barbell just isn't smart... Instead, try lying under a sturdy table, gripping the edge, and attempting some bodyweight rows... Can't do it? Well, that's because you're pulling your entire body weight rather than some measly 40-pound dumbbell... ☕ ...I suppose genetics vary, but any man should be able to pack on muscle quite rapidly...

Every training regimen carries its own inherent complexities...
It is frankly absurd to even engage in such discourse...

Ethan Garcia8 It seems...
Because everything serves its own specific purpose, and nothing is inherently superior to another... they simply complement one another...

It’s true, I suppose, but looking at it realistically... how many of you gym rats were out there chopping wood in the Alaskan wilderness, welding on the 45th floor of the Empire State Building, operating pneumatic jackhammers, fighting in the UFC, or actually competing in professional sports... that would be the only reason you'd ever truly need a gym... 😁

People ought to spend less time tethered to gym machines and iron plates, and more time out in the elements practicing bodyweight movements... since true strength, motor skills, and coordination are forged far more effectively through bodyweight training than any other method, one has to wonder why anyone bothers with the gym at all...

Does whey actually assist with muscle definition... specifically when one isn't looking to bulk up, since I have zero interest in bodybuilding and therefore don't bother with those protein supplements...

Raymond Brown5 said:I can knock out about thirty just by using my hands...

Using my hands is the path of least resistance, since my joints don't demand much more than they can give... or perhaps it's just that my wrists feel perpetually stiff and useless...

Jamie Rivera70 said:People would be genuinely surprised at how effective push-ups can actually be when you perform them with proper form and added weight.

It’s true, doing them one-handed provides more stability than even a barbell... 😁😁 😁but I'm certainly no bodybuilder, so I can barely manage a couple—and by "couple," I mean exactly two—before my muscles start twitching painfully because I'm working with my own 150 pounds plus whatever reaction force my legs throw at me...

I'm curious about the actual market value of a pearl inlay piece, roughly 20 years old, crafted by that specialist from Blackwater back in that small town in the Midwest?

Grace Davis90 said:So, what you're saying is I should aim for those meals in the afternoon, and just stick to things like cereal or pastries during the morning hours?

You're better off consulting your doctor about this... if you're struggling to lose weight, it might stem from something specific in your diet, perhaps an undiagnosed food sensitivity... try cutting out one group entirely for two weeks... say, all grains... if you don't see any progress, put them back in and try cutting out dairy for two weeks instead... and so on... those two categories are usually the culprits when it comes to sensitivities...

Meat of all kinds, though I find turkey and chicken to be quite reliable since they aren't laden with grease; then there's fish, eggs, and cheese...

Progress means moving forward...

Whether it's learning from your own failures to refine what you already have, or simply pushing toward a new horizon... striving for a goal...
What happened to Bon-ton? in Philosophy ·
Jonathan Brooks8 said:Bon-ton represents an informal set of social graces—essentially a guide to ensuring our daily interactions remain seamless and polite... it evolves naturally from the practical realities of human connection... its core mission is to foster a sense of community by prioritizing the collective good over individual whims, among other things.
Those who fail to observe these unspoken rules won't find themselves facing a judge in a courtroom, but they might very well face the quiet judgment of their peers—being labeled as unrefined or simply lacking class.

Furthermore, etiquette is a living thing; it shifts alongside a society that is constantly evolving—meaning certain protocols that seemed vital yesterday might lose their relevance or vanish entirely today.
There has always been a certain outcry whenever these standards are breached—though, if you think about it, that very backlash is actually a testament to how much those rules still matter, rather than a sign that they’ve become obsolete.

In my view, however, one of the primary reasons why the sense of duty toward these social graces is eroding is the rise of a modern movement—almost a crusade, really—that champions individual rights and self-interest at the direct expense of the community's needs.
It brings to mind that persistent, ubiquitous slogan we see everywhere: "Because you're worth it"...

And this is quite true... as society evolves, so does etiquette... making things like holding doors open for women far less significant than other nuances in modern gender dynamics.

Raymond Miller38 said:Fine. I assume he was referring to the constant speed of light in a vacuum.

I went through three of those links. They all focus exclusively on light slowing down—which is standard. Only one mentions any slight acceleration, yet provides zero supporting evidence or data. Even that single source spends its time discussing the deceleration of light.

It stands to reason, given that light is essentially a form of matter, so it's perfectly natural for it to slow down when passing through a medium... 😁
Why do wise people always sound so profound? in Philosophy ·
Jeffrey Gray4 said:I’ve been stuck on one question lately.

Are proverbs meant strictly for the enlightened elite, or should their wisdom actually be useful to the average person?

To clarify:
When I read these "wise" sayings, I often notice they're so convoluted that half the population can't even wrap their heads around them.

So here's my point:
Can someone truly claim to be wise if they aren't willing to make that wisdom accessible to the common man?

True wisdom lies in those proverbs where you have to read between the lines...
