I just sent you a private message with a recommendation for a super chill, patient dentist in Miami. He’s the kind of guy who actually helps people get over their fear of the chair.

Back home, I had this great dentist who only ever charged me a tiny copay of maybe 15$6.75 bucks. But from what I’ve heard from people living here in San Francisco, some doctors working through Medicare end up charging patients all sorts of extra stuff on top of it. That’s a total dealbreaker for my budget. I know there's gotta be solid service out there that doesn't break the bank—I'm not looking for a celebrity surgeon, just someone reliable who follows the rules.
If anyone knows a solid dentist who accepts Medicare and won't rip me off with hidden fees, please shoot me a DM or reply here. It’s kind of urgent because I need to get some dental work done soon, and I really don't want to get fleeced. Thanks.
Marija Štević has a practice at the school clinic (right by the courthouse). She's great, super conscientious, and as far as I know, she doesn't charge anything beyond what's legally required.
Honestly, having this constant, chronic fear of getting sick is basically its own illness. It’s just that, from what I can tell, you don't actually realize you're afraid of the sickness itself
So, I was hitting the gym this morning and decided to run my numbers through the Omron Body Fat BF 306. At 38 years old, weighing in at 227 pounds and standing 6'3", my body fat came out to 22.9%

And just like my last question, a solid dentist would be awesome too 😁 though honestly, no matter how often I travel, I’ll probably just stick with my regular guy in New York City..
I know one GP who's actually great, especially when it comes to ultrasound diagnostics. She runs a private practice but her prices are totally reasonable. It's Jane Doe.

Look, we all mess around with stuff sometimes, and pinpointing specific triggers is tough. The bottom line is the guy competes at the highest level, beat cancer, and fought his way back to the top.
Honestly, I just happened to hear some whispers in certain sports circles about what he might have been taking. Let’s be real—plenty of elite athletes use all sorts of banned substances. They just get really good at "cleaning up" in time. Basically, they make sure their performance doesn't tank before the big game, ensuring the drug test comes back clean.
Angela Wright said:If that were true, Lance Armstrong wouldn't have even gotten cancer in the first place. Look, exercise is great—as long as your body allows it and you clear it with your doctor first—but I'm definitely using Armstrong as the example here. 👍 Sadly, there are no guarantees. Even Terry Fox ran half of Canada, and in the end, the illness still won.
Seriously? Of all people, you pick Lance as an example? That guy put everything in his body, so honestly, I'm not surprised cancer caught up with him.

Women were rocking those permed curls, denim, and puffed sleeves. I had just come out of my first marriage. I was 31, in my prime. Now, Adele has hit 50. It feels like yesterday, yet 26 years have vanished. Fast forward to 2010. The President is an African American. Another precedent. Women are wearing plastic breasts and lip fillers. I’ve just emerged from my third marriage. It's as if nothing has changed at all. It's terrifying how time slips away. In the twilight of my life, having long since passed 50, I find myself reflecting. On time, on life, and on that approaching, inevitable... on George Orwell, who hasn't a clue. Loser.
//Note to the moderators: this isn't a literature discussion. I'm clearly not contemplating George Orwell's novel; I'm contemplating the twilight of my own life and the end that looms ahead.
No, I'm not sick, I haven't been diagnosed with anything, and I'm not suicidal. I'm just being realistic, knowing that at 57, the end is drawing closer.
If you look at it that way, you're closer to death every single year. A 21-year-old is technically closer to the end than a 20-year-old. The only difference is when you're 20, you don't give a damn about it. And maybe it isn't an "end" at all—maybe it's more like reaching a destination
We really ought to run a poll on whether young people actually need to live in constant fear of every little bug that comes along or if they can just chill. ☕
I’m not losing any sleep over this bacterium. Honestly, I wasn't worried about Swine Flu either, and I skipped the shot. I remember back when the Polish Health Minister stood her ground and refused to order the Swine Flu vaccine—people were absolutely trying to tear her head off, but she didn't budge. I even heard she ended up getting some kind of award for it because she stayed objective, refused to fuel the panic, and saved the government from wasting massive amounts of taxpayer money on unnecessary vaccines.

Look, if feeling those vibrations isn't some medical issue but just a super sharp sense, I don't see why we're even talking about it here. She didn't come looking for hearing aid advice; she's talking about sensing vibrations. It’s not a sickness. She literally said her senses are just heightened. It'd probably be way better to get answers from the folks over there who actually understand why the earth is shaking and trembling.
Angela Wright said:Smoking causes about 80% of all lung cancers. Since both you and your grandfather dealt with cancer, there's clearly a genetic component at play here.
The truth is, before tobacco even hit Europe, lung cancer was an incredibly rare disease.
I once watched a coworker swallow a centipede straight out of her hot cocoa 😁 I honestly thought the thing was gonna tear through the servers and absolutely wreck the entire Starbucks 🤣 My best guess? It’s not even bad for you—it actually gives some people superhuman strength ☕
So I was chatting with this guy once, right? Mid-sentence, I see this fly heading straight for his mouth like it’s got a GPS lock on him. And man, this dude is a total jerk—just constantly trashing people left and right. I try to tell him he needs to chill out, but he just keeps going. It was like watching a slow-motion movie; the fly flies right into his throat, and he doesn't even flinch. He just shuts his mouth and swallows. Then he looks at me like, "What was that about?" 😁
Anyway, he's still kicking. His back's acting up a bit, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of the fly.
Andrew Wells58 said:So there I am, nursing my coffee, totally exhausted. It takes me like five minutes just to finish one sip because I keep nodding off mid-gulp. Right at the end of the cup, I feel this little lump, and then—bam! A fly!
I’m not usually a massive hypochondriac, but can I actually catch some weird illness from this?
I once swallowed the last gulp of my coffee and felt something weird in my mouth. I spat it out and realized it was just a huge clump of curly hair.😠
Nancy Cook62 said:Where can I get tested for things like hepatitis or HIV around the Miami area?
Go to the Cross hospital. I actually had a situation where I accidentally poked myself with a needle at work once. Since I'm a regular blood donor, I knew I had to get checked out. I hit up my primary care doctor for a referral, and she sent me straight over to Cross for the testing.
I know this guy who dealt with this exact thing. He went in for a routine checkup and they flagged his cholesterol levels as being through the roof. Turns out he’s got some kind of genetic predisposition or something. It wasn't even about his weight or stress levels—he was fit and totally chill, but his numbers were still off the charts.
Once upon a time, someone mentioned that the cure for HIV is actually right here within us and all around us. And obviously, they were talking about a real, legitimate medical breakthrough—not some pseudoscience or "woo-woo" alternative remedy found on a wellness blog.
