Fine.

As far as I'm concerned, the whole show is over, everyone's had their popcorn, and now they're just waiting on the results.

Oh, so you’re actually sitting there hoping I’ll just give up? Sorry to disappoint, but it’s not even about whether some blind observer notices my persistence anymore; it's really just a matter of whether the admins are paying attention to this mess.

Sean Lee7 said:enough out of you.

That's enough; it's getting old.

I'm done busting my ass over this.

I'm leaving it up to the admins now.

(And if they don't come up with something decent, well, I'll figure out my next move then.)

It isn't just about what someone fails to do, it's about what they actually do, especially when you're talking about a leader or anyone making calls that affect other people, even on a small scale.

stormywolf39 said:the point is that besides being absurd, this whole thing was already covered in an unknown thread.

Whether it's absurd or not is exactly what we should be debating here. I don't get the feeling that the topic has been covered; honestly, I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean. If someone voiced a similar sentiment two years ago, does that mean I have to suppress my view today regardless of the context, especially when the nature of the argument means it's going to pop up in various discussions anyway?

Whatever.

stormywolf39 said:do you seriously think they don't know, or are you just messing with me? 🙄

I don't know. If they do know, then what—are they just playing dumb? Why would they bother doing that? And we could have had that conversation over there, not here.

stormywolf39 said:1. it says the topic covers everything in the rules, though it could be expanded

Sure, it could. If "everything" implies literally everything—like insulting people, being shady, lying... then just write it down clearly so people know exactly what kind of Reddit they're dealing with.

stormywolf39 said:2. first off, there wasn't any smoking going on over there,

Since there wasn't, then you were the one who just told me to go suck a dick right there. It's still standing right there for everyone to see.

stormywolf39 said:and as for the rest, it’s not really worth a special intervention. How is anyone supposed to know she's pushing false and malicious info instead of you, and why does it even matter? the whole thing was just a comparison used to better explain how you came to be in her view🤷

Now we're getting into concerning territory.

She literally admits those details are from outside the Reddit thread. It shouldn't even be framed as a question of whether they're accurate or if someone should bother checking them; if I don't consent, private data simply shouldn't be posted here.

The fact that this data is malicious and wrong is just another level of an unacceptable disaster, and the worst part is that you guys still don't get that this is unacceptable.

It wasn't about my "origin story"; if she wants to illustrate how I became who I am, I have hundreds of posts on Music forums, so she can go find an example there if one even exists.

Is it possible that neither the moderators nor—which is way worse—the admins in charge actually grasp this?

stormywolf39 said:Person A clocks Person B in the head and ends up behind bars, then Person C pipes up saying they would’ve done the exact same thing if they were in that spot. Does Person C get hauled off to jail too?

I guess the analogy holds some water, though I'm not entirely sold on it.

Maybe Person C won't end up behind bars, but I'm honestly not convinced they have any business sitting on the bench as a judge.

stormywolf39 said:You can't exactly spark a productive conversation when you're dealing with someone who walks around thinking they're some kind of untouchable expert on everything.

Unfounded? What, am I supposed to pull some official certificate out of my ass to prove I’m right? I’m just laying out my thoughts exactly how they are, and if you guys actually had the chops, you could try doing the same instead of whining about it. That's literally what Reddit is for.

stormywolf39 said:And especially not those threads where people whine about how modern music sucks and everything was just better back in '93.

Just because I think things used to be better doesn't mean I actually believe everything today is a total dumpster fire—and honestly, does it always have to be that vulgar? Even if my take on older music being superior is completely off base, there's no reason why saying it should be considered taboo, though we really ought to be debating that over on the Music subreddit instead of wasting time here.

stormywolf39 said:Or maybe it’s more like, "what do you modern indie posers actually know about real punk," aimed right at those kids who think they're hardcore just because they showed up to a show.

I’m not even sure if you actually nailed that paraphrase, but I get where you're coming from. It feels pretty surreal to me that someone claiming to be a massive alternative fan—especially after twenty years of listening to this stuff—wouldn't have a decent idea of what a Sex Pistols, Black Flag, Butthole Surfers, or early Flaming Lips show actually felt like.

stormywolf39 said:3. Honestly, the mods don't even touch NP topics 99% of the time

Look, first off, if they're gonna let it slide, they should probably just slap a warning on the thread so people know what they're getting into.

More importantly, when things actually fall into that 1% category, it’s basically just straight-up trolling—especially when people start leaking details about users' lives outside of Reddit without any consent, and usually making stuff up just to be malicious.

stormywolf39 said:Notice that subtle distinction between someone who insults you to your face and someone who just agrees with the insult while also calling for that person to be punished. I reserve the right to my own opinion, though as a moderator, I won't explicitly highlight it. On the other hand, you could stop being such a self-important troll who constantly lectures everyone else like they're idiots—which is just as offensive, if not more, than an outright insult, especially since it’s always hypocritically wrapped in this fancy "civil discourse" cellophane. If you did, maybe 90% of the users and music mods wouldn't ban you at the first opportunity, give you partial credit, or just tell you to go screw yourself 😉

Basically, you can actually be insulted to death on this Reddit; all you have to do is let someone say something nasty directly, then the mod leaves it up long enough for you to see what was said, and then that person might get punished later—but only if they complain. Meanwhile, everyone else—including the mods—can sit there agreeing while they're shaking in their boots. And if you complain about it, you end up looking like, "What's his problem? The first guy got punished, and this guy isn't even being direct." But it's the exact same thing. It's the same old bullshit.

It's so transparent I don't even know if it's worth calling it perfidious.

Whether I'm a troll on a Music sub like this or not is something worth talking about. In the context of there being zero actual meaningful discussion about music here, anyone trying to start one easily gets labeled a troll, and the mods who shut those attempts down act like heroes for some cheeky, cheery clique that took over, reacting to every single thought with mockery or insults.

If I'm a troll because this bothers me—because I can't stand seeing off-topic stuff brought in, especially in such a distorted way, and most importantly, because moderation approves of it—then I'm spending more posts lately on this quest for justice and decency, if nothing else, than on the kind of discussions this Reddit is supposedly meant for, then fine, call me a troll.

So, the question is, what's the point? Personally, I think a Reddit should have room for casual hanging out, sure, but it should also provide conditions for actual substance that would include people who aren't part of that established clique, people who aren't just there to feel accepted as part of some social circle with a specific... sense of humor.

I mean, it can stay like this, but maybe the sub shouldn't be called Music, but rather something like "The Breakroom."

It's like, basically the brutal rules of elementary school socialization at the end of history, so good luck navigating that... Though even then, there should probably be someone watching to see what's actually going down.

I don't trust the Rock Music mods for a second, personally. What about you guys?...

... whatever works for you.

If you're all fine with people taking private, off-site conversations and data just to twist them and weaponize them here on the Forum, and having mods basically tell users to go screw themselves, then I'm sensing some serious trouble brewing.

Go ahead and vent to the locals, the neighborhood thugs, or whatever crew you used to watch sheep with on some random hill out in the sticks, I really don't care. Just don't expect that kind of back-and-forth with me.

Anyway, I noticed those private lies about Canadians were deleted and then brought right back, so what's the deal with that? Is there even anyone at the helm here, or are we just flying blind?
Oral Sex Regulations on Music Forum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Things are just getting messier, and honestly, it’s a good thing an admin is stepping in because this has crossed a line into being pretty serious.

First off, this lie about me and Canadian people needs to be wiped from this Forum immediately. Spreading blatant falsehoods on such a sensitive topic—especially regarding something that happened privately outside of this space—is probably grounds for a lawsuit.

On top of that, you've got a moderator (Ponor) coming in and swearing at me and throwing insults my way. In my book, that's just not how things work.

Then there's another moderator (stormywolf39) who actually agrees that I should... well, I'm not going to repeat what they said, just look above. It's completely unacceptable to me, and all of this combined really makes you question the actual quality of the Music section moderation.

Look, it’s your Forum, and I’m "just" a user. I get that I can’t exactly demand much of anything here, other than maybe deciding that I shouldn't even bother showing up since the whole scene has become so ugly...

...But this stuff about Canada has to go. This isn't just some petty back-and-forth playground argument; it goes way beyond basic forum etiquette. We're talking about someone publicly spreading lies about a member on a highly sensitive subject regarding something that happened offline.

Please, at least show some decency regarding this.

Great. 😍

@Jacob Foster11: Exactly. That's what I meant when I said he just wanted to argue. Though we have to admit, Slafk did push through some changes on the forum. This ban is one of them. Now we can rest easy knowing users won't be posting PMoves.

It would be nice to actually solve problems now. Civilly.

Anyway, here’s the latest thing I’ve been noticing: .

Maybe it got archived because I stepped in, but before that, it just sat there unarchived for hours in a locked thread.

Time is pretty much relative 🙂 anyway.

Honestly, I can't stand when a thread just gets shut down the second things get messy; a moderator should actually be there to moderate the conversation instead of just killing it and stopping any real discussion from happening whenever a problem pops up.

Howdy,

I’m just trying to gauge the vibe here regarding whether it's actually against the rules to tell another Forum member to go screw themselves—and yeah, I know, I feel a little awkward even typing that out, but that’s literally what was said and I'm not trying to sugarcoat anything—or if certain big-shot protagonists are somehow off-limits for that kind of talk,

Maybe I’m just sounding a bit rough, but trust me, I’ve been banned more times than I care to admit on other music boards, and I’ve never once told anyone to go kick rocks, so I'm genuinely curious 🙂.

Man, I just listened to part of that Eurovision entry, and honestly, it’s a bit of a struggle to get through, especially once that heavy beat kicks in and takes over everything.

Dada, that's just how it is. It’s all relative, isn't it? Just some stuff. 🤦

If you need someone to make sense of things, I'm right here.

Back then, given how things were at that time... This one. What the group Time pulled off on their own turf was honestly next level. Even looking back from today, nobody who actually knows anything worth knowing would ever question their impact, or how Dada crushed it both as a vocalist and on bass. The cold, hard truth. On that final Ekatarina album, there’s this beautifully articulated affirmation of everything they left behind.

Honestly, what they were pulling off—especially Dada’s solo stuff back in the day—was pretty naive if you look at it now, but there was always this heavy, serious craft behind it that still holds some lessons for us today. It's rare to find any local prog bands that don't fall into that same trap of being overly simplistic.

Back then, the only thing that actually mattered was nailing the song and pulling off a killer performance; looking like an idiot in front of people wasn't even on my radar.

Times have clearly shifted so much that you see Chloe Wilson11 today getting all worked up over some pathetic sub-tabloid trash calling Dada an old fogey.

I don't know what your type is when it comes to guys, but honestly, Taj looks better today than 90% of the kids out there who pretend they actually give a damn about rock n roll.

I don't follow everything he does closely, but I know that one song from a few years back, Fairytale of Love, well enough. It’s written and produced with such high-level AOR/mainstream pop polish that most of what’s being pumped out today just looks pathetic by comparison.

Look, I get people trashing Bregović—that’s nothing new since everyone acts like he's some kind of fraud, even if that's a total stretch—but seeing Dada Topić become the go-to target for mockery among indie kids and those who just want to feel superior? That’s actually news to me.

And that’s exactly why I was caught off guard.
Bob Dylan & TIME in Music ·
Wait, are we seriously at the point where we're just trashing this guy?

Is that really where we're at now?

Alright, fine, I'll get on it once the thread title actually changes. Just my two cents on Joanna Newsom, but honestly, she’s in a league of her own....or something like that.

So, I guess I'll be free to drop some thoughts here and maybe actually learn something about the stuff I care about, if the universe decides to let me.
