Back in August my nose started running like crazy, and ever since it finally cleared up, I haven't stopped coughing. It’s not that deep, wet lung cough either—it’s coming from my throat, like there's this constant irritation right there, you know? So it's definitely not my lungs... and it can't be the cigarettes because I don't even smoke much and I'm still hacking away. I've tried Benadryl, honey, gargling, but the coughing just won't quit. Like, after I eat, I have to cough so hard I feel like I'm gonna throw up before I finally settle down, almost like I'm constantly trying to clear my throat... and last night, the coughing kept me wide awake all night...
I honestly think it's my sinuses... like the drainage is just sliding down my throat and triggering the cough, and smoking is probably just making the whole mess worse.
I really hope it isn't bronchitis.
Go get checked out by an ENT; I'm pretty sure melloworca6 already gave you some solid advice on which tests you need.

Seriously though, tell me what you guys would even do if your own primary care doctor started screaming at you and treating you like garbage?
Honestly, it’s not even surprising anymore because I dealt with something just as nasty today from a nurse over at Mayo Clinic where I had my surgery, and I’m still reeling from it—she basically snapped at me saying, "It's always something with you."
And don't even get me started on trying to actually see my surgeon; you'd probably need a direct line to a satellite just to get an appointment, unless you want to shell out a fortune for a private consultation.
Just grab some pure, straight aloe vera juice, I think you can find a $33 1 L bottle at a place like Whole Foods or something, though I'm not totally sure what they're charging these days
Arthur Palmer7, go talk to a shrink or something because you’re clearly a total hypochondriac, and honestly, once something actually serious hits you, you'll be scrambling to get your will signed 🤷

It's because those parts of your body are way more sensitive, so just use less of it.
jasonstone, look, I know some specialists—neurosurgeons and neurologists—so if you can swing getting a referral, hit me up in my DMs because I’ve got an MRI appointment at Quest Diagnostics in New York City at the end of October that I'm just gonna let go to waste.
You can just hit up any private lab to get your blood drawn and check your type—like Breyer in New York City, though I've no clue about San Francisco, so just Google it
Look, if your primary care doctor won't cover it, you're gonna be stuck footing the bill yourself, and honestly, who even knows how much of a hit that's gonna take 🤷
If you want some actual info on doctors, go check out the threads about San Francisco, people there are constantly sharing their experiences.
Oh yeah, those symptoms are definitely a thing after surgery. 😁
A couple of my buddies who went under the knife dealt with the exact same stuff, though I've no clue if it hits everyone or just some people, so honestly, don't go stressing yourself out over it before you even get your test results back.
What Jeffrey Garcia6 told you is just your standard routine, but if I were you, I’d go ahead and book an MRI at a place like CityMD right now just to be safe since the wait times can hit like four months; that way, by the time you're done with physical therapy, you can jump straight into the scan if things aren't looking up, and honestly, it's way easier to cancel an MRI than it is to sit around waiting for one when you actually need it
You won't actually know for sure until you get the tests done. I've had two hernia surgeries myself, but honestly, I really hope you aren't dealing with that.
It’s probably a herniated disc, but you aren't going to know for sure until you get an MRI or a CT scan—and those CT scans pump you full of radiation—but look, you already know you can't just walk onto a forum and get a real diagnosis without actually getting some imaging done first.
