Dealing with chronic back pain in Health ·
Look, just try some stretching exercises—they’re killer for lower back pain. Honestly, an MRI is the only way to see what's actually going on under the hood, because even if those X-rays your physical therapist orders don't show anything major, they'll definitely hook you up with physical therapy and a workout routine, and if that stuff doesn't do the trick, then you go get the MRI.

Look, you're totally right, but let's be real—I've seen plenty of people show up with nothing but a printed report, which honestly doesn't mean squat. I'm just trying to point out that the actual X-ray image is what the specialists actually need to see, and if they didn't get the CD, they can always just demand it.
I ain't even in Chicago myself 😉
In Chicago, you get all your scans, CDs, and the written report—which, let's be honest, is the least important thing to a neurosurgeon anyway.

Look, it wouldn't hurt to go see an orthopedic surgeon, but you really ought to start getting some exercise in too—honestly, I need to get moving myself. 😁

The hospital in New York City is basically a specialized lung center

Post-C-section CRP levels: what's normal? in Health ·
Look, I’m telling you, CRP and ESR levels are definitely tied to whatever surgical procedure you just went through. After my own surgery, I was running a fever for a whole week, and even though the doctors tried to brush me off, I insisted on getting my CRP checked—it was high, but then it just leveled out on its own. Honestly, you need to take charge of your own damn health and go talk directly to your surgeon or your OBGYN; if you let some random doctor poking around your abdomen cause bleeding, that's on you. Don't listen to doctors who have zero business meddling in stuff that isn't their specialty.

Maybe try the 10 mg Normabel
Is Kozmodisk actually any good? in Health ·
You’re way too young to be hitting the gym hard, you'll just wreck your physique, it's a totally different ballgame once you're older. If you're still gonna go through with it though, at least get some training in and build up some muscle (once you're actually ready to handle it)

If you're looking to get an MRI in San Francisco at the Mayo Clinic, you're stuck waiting a whole month, so good luck if you actually have the patience to travel...

Get your thyroid levels checked
mistymarlin86 said:hey,
not sure if I'm in the right spot but since everyone here is obsessing over lab results, I've got a question too...
I went in to get my total IgE checked because of some allergy issues and this is all they gave me:

immunology IgE
result 6.94
ref. range 0-122kU/L

are these numbers actually normal and what does it even mean?

My IgE levels have always stayed within the normal range even though tests kept flagging allergies left and right. Look, those standard panels don't cover everything—they never do—so you’re basically going to have to play detective yourself. Check if it's something like jewelry, maybe gold, or some skincare products, makeup, or even certain drinks or alcohol. Figure out exactly what they tested you for and stop looking at those; focus on the stuff they missed. You're obviously gonna have to figure out for yourself what's actually triggering this.
Need some help here! in Health ·
Casey Stewart7 said:I was looking for an open thread about heart or lung stuff when I stumbled onto this one and figured I’d just ask here. For a while now, my breathing has been absolutely trashed—I’m gasping for air even just walking normally, and honestly, even eating feels like a workout because I can't catch my breath. My heart is also racing like crazy. I finally hit up my primary care doctor today to get some referrals, and she wants me to get bloodwork done along with heart and lung screenings. Since I've never actually had any of these tests before, I'm wondering if I need to book an appointment in advance or if I can just show up. Also, if it turns out my breathing issues aren't related to my heart or lungs, can one of those specialists refer me to an endocrinologist, or am I stuck going back to my GP to get another referral? I wanted to ask about the referral here since a bunch of my family deals with thyroid issues, but everyone started talking at once and I totally blanked on it. Thanks in advance..

It's most likely your thyroid, so go get a thyroid ultrasound and check your hormone levels (TSH, T3, T4). You should definitely check your iron levels too, because being low on iron causes anemia, which leaves you feeling wiped out. Your doctor can easily write you a referral for an endocrinologist (she did it for my mom)
Side effects of detoxing? in Health ·
I’m 100% with placidjackal36 on both his points because this whole "body detox" thing is just total nonsense. I mean, come on, you know as well as I do that every single cell in your body completely regenerates itself every seven years anyway. Look, it’s fine to switch up your diet, cut out the greasy stuff, load up on fruits and veggies, hit the gym, and maybe stop eating after 6 or 7 PM. Go ahead and drink all the herbal tea you want—nobody's stopping you, and it's healthy—but just eat normally and don't overdo it.
So my mom actually went in for salivary gland scraping last week, and honestly, it wasn't even that painful, but her gland was insanely swollen and none of those antibiotics they threw at her beforehand did a damn thing. Basically, you only bother with the procedure if the antibiotics fail you completely. She feels incredible now that it's done, everything finally calmed down.

Hey Catherine, just go get a spirometry test while you're at it, just to be safe because of that cough
