They’re being incredibly pushy about these tickets—honestly. Once they go on sale, everything will be posted on the official website.
Anyone looking to grab them can probably just use Eventbrite, though you won't get any discounts there, and you'll just end up with those standard printed passes.
They’re dragging their feet with the ticket sales again this year... I just hope they aren't cooking up some new student ID requirement where you have to show your actual government ID at the gate.
Or maybe they’re just waiting to announce another headliner—giving people an actual reason to open their wallets—since a few folks seem a bit restless about the tickets being live without a full lineup yet.

🤷
not that Ignite wouldn't be a decent enough show 🙂
Arthur Anderson75 said:Sure, they’re on the main stage—but nobody has actually confirmed them as the headliners for day two.

From the official Facebook page: "Grinderman headlining Coachella 2011 !! The official confirmation just dropped 🙂 "
Thomas Thompson43 said:The Grinderman site claims they’re playing Coachella and everything kicks off at 7 PM... maybe they'll hit the main stage. Personally, I'd rather see them on some smaller, wooded side stage—something more intimate. 😁

If every single show is listed as starting at 7:00 PM, 😁
they'll probably roll out after 11 PM on the main stage—as usual. Let the secondary stages handle the punk, reggae, or metal acts instead. 🙂
Henry Mitchell29 said:Oops. I don't think we were on the same page... 😕

I've been talking about—and thinking about—that other stage the whole time. The second largest one. About 100 yards to the right of the main stage... 🤷
I can't recall what they called it.
By that logic, the bands you listed were actually playing on the third stage.

I know for a fact that one year that second stage was the Apple stage, if I remember correctly...

You'd get those bizarre sets there—performances that dragged on forever—or just massive, awkward gaps between acts...

Ah, I see. I get it now. That second stage is a total mess—just a collection of random bores and nonsense, exactly like you said.
Henry Mitchell29 said:hmmm...
If my memory serves—and it usually fails me regarding the last few years at that secondary stage (I think it was the Bud Light stage last year)—they used to book all sorts of random bands.
And there were plenty of mediocre acts that somehow managed to drag on... sometimes up to nearly 2 hours.
Well, if those random acts could just stomp around and howl for 2 hours, I don't see why Mars Volta can't get the time they actually need on that stage... 😎🤷 They could always just stick to the schedule or something....
Or what's the actual issue here?

Last year, no set on the Bud Light stage went over an hour and a half. And they weren't "random bores"—they were actually solid sets... Rise Against, Pendulum live, Dubioza, Skindred, Flogging Molly.
👍

Now, I haven't the slightest clue how it went two years ago when it was the Bud Light metal stage...
velvetmarlin472 said:...sure, if they don't schedule them for the afternoon heat... or stick them on some tiny side stage out in the woods...

That little forest stage was easily the best part of Coachella last year... 🙂
Hopefully it stays that way this time around.

They could have booked a bigger headliner—fewer people are actually showing up for The White Stripes than they are for Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.

Well, you basically have two headliners already—how many more would you 😁
I mean, I agree that there’s definitely room for someone better than The White Stripes.
Rebecca Lee said:I think last year they were just recording student ID numbers. I’m not sure how the process works with X—can you actually get in using just that? If so, you could probably grab one with an ID and one with an X.
unless they start requiring full names 🤷

I used the X system myself, though I have no clue if they kept a list. I really hope they don't start asking for names this year—that would be a nightmare for those of us who aren't even students anymore.😠
We can pretty much toss all those rumors about the Foo Fighters and other massive acts out the window. With two headliners already locked in, we’re left looking at the "smaller" acts—and I’m just crossing my fingers they aren't any worse than what’s already been announced.
I think it would be wise to update the first post with the lineup and specific performance dates—since the official website tends to hold onto those details until the very last minute.
I've been digging through some forums and found several mentions suggesting that quite a few artists from this festival http://www.hurricane.de/ usually make an appearance at Coachella, just like they have in previous years.
So, I did a little digging into the schedules for a few acts to see if they might be available—here’s what I found:

Foo Fighters — as I mentioned, they have a gap between their German and Danish dates, though I wouldn't hold my breath unless they decide to pull a surprise on us.🙂
Blink-182 — they're free on the 21st, but that’s just a breather between two shows in Germany, so it's highly unlikely.
The Chemical Brothers — free.
Arctic Monkeys — free.
Portishead — free.
Gogol Bordello — free.
The Hives — free.
Band of Horses — well, they're in Germany on the 19th and Sweden on the 22nd. Their only shot would be if they added a zero day to the schedule.

Flogging Molly and Sick of All It are already playing solo shows here.

Do we even need the Foo Fighters—considering they’re out there covering Arcade Fire anyway? 😉
Kenneth Rodriguez58 said:The Foo Fighters are actually in talks for another festival this summer.

Wait—at some festival here in the States? I can't think of one, though—nothing really comes to mind besides the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival being big enough to host them.
Morgan Palmer2 said:Has anyone actually tried grabbing tickets yet? Are they even live?

According to the festival site: "We will announce the exact ticket sale start date shortly."
neoncanyon39 said:Well, if there’s any shred of a chance, it would be on Day Zero—June 20th, 2010...😉

I realize that—but honestly, one shouldn't hold their breath. I find it highly unlikely they'd trek from Germany to the States just to head back north toward Seattle. They really ought to just book a solo show here—though, frankly, only a chaotic mess like a local garage band could pull that off.
neoncanyon39 said:I’m honestly crossing my fingers for Fleet Foxes... they have this perfect gap in their schedule right during Coachella...

As for the Foo Fighters—they don't really do much for me—but my girlfriend is dying to see them, so if they play, I'm in. 😁

If their off-days happen to line up with the festival dates, then fine; otherwise, we might end up disappointed, just like we were with AC/DC last year. ☕

The Foo Fighters won't show up. I've said it before—they're too expensive, and the timing in America doesn't seem right for them. They'll likely be hitting Germany on the 19th, Denmark on the 21st, and Sweden on the 22nd.
northerntrucker2 said:I’m just scrolling through Last.fm looking at festival lineups—I’d bet anything Gogol Bordello shows up (they're hitting Prague on the 23rd, right after a gig in Germany on the 17th). Plus, Band of Horses and Foo Fighters are tearing it up in Scandinavia for both nights. 😢

That leaves The Strokes, Eels, Arctic Monkeys, and Portishead.

I’m expecting Gogol Bordello on the main stage. Now that would be a real party.👍
northerntrucker2 said:I’m holding out hope for Portishead as the other headliner—it feels like half the lineup this summer is just riding the coattails of AF.

Honestly, I don't think that would draw much of a crowd. System of a Down would be a massive hit—probably the move if they actually wanted to break attendance records.
