A Christmas Carol (2009) in Movies ·
It’s a bit too small-scale for a full-blown Christmas movie, and honestly, I feel like I’ve seen the whole "Christmas ghosts" trope played out in every book and cartoon ever made. But whatever—a new holiday flick always puts me in a better mood. Jim Carrey 🤣 😁
Whiteout (2009) in Movies ·
Watched it the other day. Even with Kate leading the cast—who's an incredible actress, by the way—the movie just didn't land for me. It was pretty uninspiring. And those whole sequences involving freezing over and flying through the storm? They made zero sense. Like, they can stand there perfectly fine while everything else is blowing away if they're tied down, but the second they unbuckle, they just fly off instantly.
Chaos on Brest Street! in Movies ·
Man, Freddy Krueger absolutely terrified me when I was just a kid. I actually went on a recent marathon of all the sequels; honestly, some of the early ones were kind of cheesy, but I still felt that genuine creepiness. I am seriously looking forward to this release. My only real gripe is that it feels like they’re leaning way too hard on nostalgia—lots of clips of kids playing jump rope, that scene where a girl gets pulled out of bed, those pipes in the basement... I guess they could have been a bit more original and actually introduced some fresh scares instead of just recycling the old stuff.

I just stumbled upon this thread. I watched this one ages ago, but man, it really stuck with me. I’ve always been a sucker for horror movies with a supernatural twist. This one was terrifying—I actually watched it alone in the middle of the night, and it genuinely creeped me out. I couldn't even fall asleep afterward, which I guess is exactly what makes a horror movie actually good. The plot held my attention too, and I actually preferred the ending since it leaves everything hanging.
I tried rewatching it later, but since it was during the day, it didn't hit quite the same way. Still, that first impression stays with you.
Bottom line: it's a great movie!
