It all comes down to the standard. Usually, you can just flash the router's firmware with a different Annex version. Or, if you listen to what ghost says, see if you can swap it at the store for the same model but with a higher Annex. Honestly, next time, just check which Annex your ISP uses before you go out buying a modem or router.

I'm with you on this. It’s honestly a bit ridiculous to drop money on a brand-new card that completely overpowers a build like that. You're just wasting cash. Just grab something used and call it a day. Plus, since you're running Linux, you'd be much better off going with Nvidia. Getting the drivers to actually behave will save you a massive headache.

Why isn't there an option in the BIOS to set a specific Wake On timer? I had this whole vision a few years back where I’d schedule a wake-up, let Windows boot up, and have a playlist trigger WinAmp immediately so the music would just be blasting right away 🤔 That was my plan, anyway. I ended up giving up on the idea 🤷

I don't know. I never really clicked with Opera. I gave it a shot back when it first launched and thought it was better than Internet Explorer (which isn't actually true, right 😬 ). But then I switched over to Firefox and just stuck with it. Never had any issues, and it honestly just feels better than Opera. I'll occasionally pull up Opera if Firefox fails to render something correctly, but those cases are pretty rare.

Every single time a thread pops up about whether Windows Vista actually sucks or not, someone inevitably pulls out that tired old "well, remember when Windows XP first launched?" argument. Yeah, I remember them. And despite all the bugs they had and the fact that half the gamers back then were whining because their favorite titles wouldn't run, XP was still a massive step up from Windows 98. People transitioned to it fast without making nearly as much noise. I get the feeling that isn't happening with Vista at all. So, seriously, stop spouting that nonsense about how things were during the Windows XP era. You sound like you're reciting some outdated nursery rhyme. 🙂

VLC Media Player, hands down. You can use VLC Media Player, sure, but you’ll be stuck hunting down codecs or messing with filters just to get things to actually work, and honestly, it can be a bit hit or miss. Then there's VLC. Everything else is just noise. And yeah, I'm talking about video.

"The movie" is just one single, total dud. As for anime, you get a few versions, but they either completely bomb or feel way too childish. It makes you wonder how they can take a legendary franchise like Final Fantasy and fail to make a decent film or series out of it, yet somehow pull off something great from a garbage game. I guess it’s just one of those cosmic paradoxes 🤷

leecher - anyone currently downloading the file. They can technically upload pieces they've already finished, but usually, their upload speed is way lower than what they're pulling down.

Having a ton of leechers isn't necessarily a bad thing if you want fast speeds, but it’s a disaster if nobody is seeding anything—or if people are just sucking up bandwidth ten times faster than they give back. I’ve been in situations where the seeder count stayed at zero for my entire session. Luckily, people were chipping in tiny bits here and there, so eventually, everyone grabbed the pieces they were missing. That’s really the whole point of torrenting. I'm not saying the speeds were amazing, but it's better than trying to download a single CD at 2 kB instead of 20 kB.😉

There are better places to start than with IBM, which is basically dominated by the major global powers anyway—and we Americans aren't one of them. It is what it is.
