Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid gynecologist covered by insurance? I'm looking for someone in the western part of the city—anywhere near Brooklyn, some small town, USA, Santa Monica, Spanish Hill, or the Neighborhood area. Thanks.
Lily, I am so incredibly sorry for what you're going through. Just wanted to give a quick update on my end. My dad had his first radiation session today out of the thirty they have planned. I guess we'll just have to see how much he can handle.
Nancy Lee said:I can't believe he didn't get any treatment. Like, why??? Maybe you should try switching over to Springfield? They usually start the first round of therapy within a week there. Once they take a patient in and run the tests, the treatment follows. I mean, sure, you might wait for radiation, but it shouldn't be longer than two or three weeks. this waiting period is honestly just way too much.
We went to the new hospital first. They put an abdominal probe in him and then just sent him home with a referral to the Mayo Clinic. Then at the Mayo Clinic, his doctor referred him to Springfield. There, they did a bronchoscopy and a gastroscopy and basically told him they couldn't perform the specific procedure the doctor from the Mayo Clinic requested (something about installing bypasses on the vocal cords and somewhere else, though I don't quite remember). So, back to the Mayo Clinic again. He just got some pain patches and was told to wait until October 30th for marking. And now we're just waiting again. Everything is getting worse for him. :'( It feels like they’ve just written him off and are waiting for him to pass away. It sounds harsh, but honestly, that's how it feels. Seeing him suffer like this is just terrible. Truly awful...😢
My dad is just getting worse by the day. He’s barely eating anything at all. My mom was feeding him through a tube up to nine times a day until about two weeks ago, but now he can barely manage four. On top of that, he’s vomiting and coughing up blood. He went to the Mayo Clinic back on October 30th for his radiation marking, but we haven't heard a single word from them since. I honestly get the feeling they've just written him off. I don't know how much longer he can hang on like this, but I'm scared it won't be long. :'( He was diagnosed with esophageal and bronchial cancer at the end of August, and he hasn't even started any actual treatment yet. It feels like they're just passing him around from one department to another without actually doing anything. 😠
@coppereagle10/">@@coppereagle10: I totally get where you're coming from. My dad is fighting esophageal cancer that’s spread to his bronchi too. He can't even swallow, so he's on a feeding tube now. It's brutal—he coughs up blood and bits of tissue, and the pain in his back and chest is just constant. He’s lost a ton of weight, though he wasn't exactly big to begin with. Honestly, watching this is agonizing, and there's nothing we can actually do to fix it. I think the hardest part is seeing my mom, who used to be so active, now stuck by his side 24/7, spending her whole day cooking and pureeing food just to feed him. He’s become so irritable and argumentative, too, so it's just this endless, miserable cycle that I wouldn't wish on anyone. There aren't really any words that help. No matter how much someone tries, nothing makes it better. I guess I just know what's coming for us, and it feels inevitable and very close. :'(
Hey mistyjackal842, I just wanted to say how sorry I am. I know nothing really helps right now, but I get it. My dad is going through something similar—doctors are basically counting down the months while he fights a tumor in his esophagus and bronchi. 😢
I’m looking for some help. My dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer about a month ago, and it’s already spread to his bronchi and larynx. He hasn't been able to eat normally for a few days now, so he's using a feeding tube instead. Since my Mom doesn't really have any experience cooking for patients in this condition, I was wondering if anyone here knows more about what kind of nutrition he needs. Maybe there's a specific website with recipes or some medical literature you could point us toward? Thanks in advance.
velvetmoose9 said:First off, we really need to figure out what actually caused the esophageal stenosis—you know, that pathological narrowing of the esophagus. Check the Bell Labs results—are there any abnormal findings? Any tumor markers they might have run? Has he lost weight? Is there a history of any specific esophageal issues (like GERD, Barrett's esophagus, maybe caustic ingestion, chronic alcoholism, or liver disease)? Any CT scans? A gastroscopy would definitely be useful here to get some real info.
They haven't done anything besides checking the esophagus because this whole thing was handled "through a connection." He was originally scheduled for a gastroscopy in two months, but someone pulled some strings so he could jump the line and see what's going on now. There aren't any Bell Labs results yet. As for his medical history, he didn't have anything prior, though he did drink quite a bit, I guess—not every single day, but pretty often. He’s dropped about 6 or 7 pounds in the last ten days since he can't eat, and whatever he does manage to swallow, he just ends up throwing back up.
Can someone explain what esophageal stenosis actually is and how they treat it? My dad just got diagnosed with it. For the last month he's had trouble swallowing, and this past week it's gotten so bad he basically can't swallow anything at all. Most of what he eats just ends up coming right back up. He already had an endoscopy, I think that's the right term, and that's when they gave him the diagnosis. Now they're looking into doing a gastroscopy and an ultrasound of his esophagus too. Thanks in advance.
Sandra Rivera59 said:I'm looking for a good private doctor in Washington, D.C. because my leg is hurting, and I suspect it might be a vein issue. I'm honestly not sure which kind of specialist I should even be looking for. If anyone has a recommendation, I'd really appreciate it.
If you think it's a vein thing, maybe try Dr. Lastric. I think he has an office near the Mississippi River, if I'm remembering correctly.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a physiatrist in Washington, D.C.? I’ve been seeing Sanda Dubravčić at Holy Spirit up until now, but I really don't want her treating me anymore. I guess I just haven't met many doctors who are quite as stuck-up and impossible to talk to as she is. If anyone knows someone else, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

So, I bought this laptop with "Free DOS" pre-installed. I ended up having some issues with Windows, so I just took it to a local repair shop. They reinstalled Windows for me, but now it's acting up. If you don't mind, maybe you could shoot me a PM with some advice? Thanks! beta
Can someone help me out? I took my laptop to a repair shop to get Windows reinstalled, but about a month later, I started getting this "Windows is not Genuine" notification. It’s asking for some kind of product key, but I honestly have no clue what to do about it. If anyone knows how to fix this, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks...🙂 beta
I mean, Ian Poulter is just a total character to me. I love watching him play, and honestly, his whole lifestyle and golf apparel line is pretty cool too. He’s definitely got a wild side... 😛
13:12 for us (if you can even call us "us") 😁 I guess I have to give the guys credit for fighting so hard, regardless of how this all ends up turning out...🙂
Scott Collins30 said:Maybe, even if they are our guys. 😁 The fourballs were played way better this time around. I feel bad for the Belgian guy, though; he missed so many putts that it’s honestly unreal. They probably would have taken the match if they had just been a little luckier. That second-to-last shot from Colsaerts on the final hole was pure magic. 🙏 🙏
The greens are moving pretty fast, and I guess the Europeans just haven't quite found their rhythm on them yet. Maybe we'll eventually get some payback for what happened back in '99, though. Back then, they were trailing 10-6 before pulling off that comeback to win the Ryder Cup by a 1 point difference. 😁
Scott Collins30 said:I guess McDowell and Westwood have been pretty terrible both yesterday and today; I mean, McDowell was okay yesterday morning, but after that, he just fell apart. If he had actually sunk half those putts—which he should have done, honestly—they might actually be leading against Furyk and Snedeker. As for Westwood, he was struggling all day yesterday, and I think Colstaers basically carried him through that four-ball round (a 62 🙏), so I'm kind of surprised he's even out there playing today.
Also, Breadley is getting on my nerves big time. 😬
At this rate, we've probably already handed this Ryder Cup over to the Americans...😎 Unless the afternoon four-ball group somehow finds their rhythm and pulls the score a bit closer. Maybe then we'll still have a shot tomorrow...
Edit: Just so you know, heading into the afternoon four-balls, Europe is trailing 8-4.
