Last Friday, I found myself sitting on a bench at a bus stop next to a woman who was, to put it mildly, sobbing. Instead of saying anything, I just looked away and took a sip of my water. I didn't ask if she was okay—which, let's be honest, was clearly not the case 😁—or if there was anything I could do to help. Now, I can't stop beating myself up over it. It felt cold. Honestly, just plain rude.☕
I haven't been since back in 2007, when this whole thing was still called the VIP Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It feels like the lineup starts way earlier this year. Sure, there will probably be delays here and there, but back in those old 2007 days, things didn't start before 7:30 or 8:00 PM. Personally, I actually prefer this earlier schedule.🧐
I just remembered that in *Barbarian Invasions*, the dying man is actually a university professor. Thanks. I was actually thinking more about her recent stuff—Knocked Up, then there's The Ugly Truth and 27 Dresses, which feel like they're in that same vein. Plus all that messy drama on Grey's Anatomy. Ultimately, her characters in Knocked Up and The Ugly Truth are practically identical, and that’s my point.☕ 🙂
It feels to me like Katherine Heigl just plays the exact same character over and over again: 😂 an ambitious, conservative, uptight woman in her late twenties who spends the first half of the movie refusing to admit she actually wants a man in her life—some "emancipated" or "self-actualized" nonsense—only to end up in the arms of some ranch hand at the end who wouldn't even be on her radar at the start. And then, suddenly, she’s happy, satisfied, and realizes she was being foolish the whole time.🙄🙄 🙄 I honestly don't get how an actress can keep taking these kinds of roles and actually build a career out of it. Maybe it's just about the paycheck.☕
Correct me if I'm wrong, but please name a single film where her character isn't just this magical blend of those same old tropes. 😁

p.s. Maybe I only sat through it because I’ve spent the last ten days buried in these supposedly "deep" black-and-white classics for work, so a bright, happy movie in color was a relief in its own way. My friend reckoned I probably would’ve walked out after twenty minutes if I’d watched this right after a few "normal" colored films. Who knows? 🙄 p.p.s. Honestly, my favorite part was when that clip from 500 Days of Summer (which they’re watching in the theater) popped up in full frame. For those seven seconds, I was just sitting there drooling, thinking about how great it would be to watch 500 Days of Summer in a theater.
I had the exact same experience. I watched this little flick right after "Brick" and "Mysterious Skin," both also starring Gordon-Levitt—I was in that phase of "Gordon-Levitt is just SO hot 🍿"—so after those two heavy hitters, this pathetic little movie felt totally weak, shallow, and superficial. I finally just moved on and watched "the diplomat" instead.😁😁😁
