I was watching a sports documentary last night and it got me thinking about how much of professional competition relies on unwritten rules versus actual legalities. We like to pretend there's a certain level of decorum or a "gentleman's agreement" between major players, but lately, it feels like that's being replaced by constant litigation and formal complaints.

It seems like every time a big move is being made, someone finds a way to drag the governing bodies into it to stall the process. It’s honestly exhausting to watch. It turns what should be a simple transaction into a months-long bureaucratic headache that mostly just benefits the lawyers involved.

Does anyone else feel like the "spirit of the game" is being completely swallowed up by these technicalities and legal maneuvering? Or is this just the natural evolution of high-stakes business?
I’ve been sitting here thinking about the sheer velocity of movement in modern professional sports, and it’s starting to get a bit surreal. We’ve reached a point where the "loyal club" narrative feels like something out of a Victorian novel. It’s almost impossible to imagine a world where a player stays at a club through thick and thin unless they’re basically a local deity or the club is so small that the "big boys" haven't noticed them yet.

But lately, I’ve been wondering if we’re looking at the transfer market all wrong. We usually frame these massive moves—the kind that leave a massive hole in a roster and a huge hole in the fans' hearts—as these devastating losses. We talk about "robbery," "betrayal," or "the death of competition." We lament the fact that the domestic league is essentially becoming a feeder system for a handful of ultra-wealthy giants. It’s a valid frustration. When you see a cornerstone of a team get plucked away for a staggering sum, it feels like the competitive balance of the entire league is being sucked into a vacuum.

However, I want to play devil's advocate here. Is there a version of this where the selling club actually wins in the long run?

I look at it from a cold, hard business perspective first. If you’re a mid-tier club with a brilliant scouting department, isn't your entire business model predicated on finding these gems and selling them at the absolute peak of their value? If you refuse to sell, you’re essentially holding a depreciating asset hostage. You might keep the player, but you’re missing out on the capital needed to rebuild, scout three more prospects, and fix your infrastructure. There's a certain pragmatism in being able to say, "Look, it hurts to see him go, but we're better off with the cash in the bank and a fresh start."

Then there’s the psychological angle. I’ve seen teams struggle when they cling too hard to a single "talisman." You build the whole identity around one person, and when they inevitably move on, the whole house of cards collapses because there was no Plan B. There’s a weird kind of strength in being a club that can lose its best player and still function, or even thrive, because it proves the system is bigger than the individual. It shifts the culture from "star-dependent" to "process-driven."

But man, it's hard to swallow that logic when you're the one sitting in the stands watching the jersey change. There's a soul to football that a balance sheet can't capture. When a player becomes the heartbeat of a stadium, their departure feels like a breach of a social contract. The fans provide the atmosphere, the loyalty, and the revenue, and in exchange, they expect a certain level of continuity. When that continuity is broken by a massive paycheck, it feels like the sport is losing its local connection and becoming just another branch of the global entertainment industry.

I also wonder about the "domino effect" within a league. If the top tier of the league keeps vacuuming up all the talent, does the quality of the mid-tier eventually stagnate? If you're constantly rebuilding, can you ever actually build a squad capable of challenging the elite? It feels like a cycle designed to keep the hierarchy exactly where it is, forever.

So, I'm curious to hear what you all think. Do you view these massive, high-profile transfers as a necessary evil for the survival of the smaller clubs, or is it a slow poison that's killing the competitive integrity of the sport? Can a club truly "win" by selling its soul for a massive transfer fee, or is that just a short-term fix for a long-term problem?

I remember back in the day, there was some kind of loophole or deal where you could hit up Chase ATMs and pull out cash without getting hit by fees, or maybe I was just using some specific Chase perk.
Maybe I totally misread the situation, though, or maybe they finally switched over to their own closed-loop system.

Based on this, it sounds like the card should work just fine when traveling abroad.

Don't they all rely on Chase's infrastructure to actually run their cards?
If that's the case, I'd say if Chase decides to pull the plug on their payment system, even PayPal is going down with them.
Someone please set me straight if I'm totally missing something here.

Are they actually charging us for closing accounts now?

I’ve shut down a few accounts over the last couple of years—most recently earlier this year—and I never had to cough up a dime.

That link you dropped? Total scam site. It's just a bunch of garbage designed to trick you into clicking spam links. Check out this video.
There hasn't been an official update since then, and honestly, if I had to guess, nobody's bothered making a custom ROM because that tablet isn't exactly a cult classic.

Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.
Anyway, you could just Google "Android 4.2 factory reset" (or whatever else you need help finding). Since it's an ASUS, there isn't some crazy custom UI that makes it act any different from any other Android phone or tablet running the same version.

So from (and every video) it looks like once this pops up, you're stuck having to mash power + volume up just to get into recovery mode to run a reset.

Can't you just do a standard factory reset through the settings menu? It’s basically the same thing, just without all the button gymnastics.
Lease agreements: Tips, questions, and experiences in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I’ve been hitting up different banks lately, and man, the vibes are all over the place.
At some spots, when I brought up the lease, they looked at me like I was carrying the weight of the entire world on my shoulders. At others, they didn't seem to care much, but honestly, it’s all just a massive gray area.
The thing is, none of this shows up on the DOR, so if I hadn't mentioned it myself, nobody would even have a clue.
In fact, a couple of the bankers actually suggested I just leave it out of the paperwork entirely to keep things simple.

I’ve sent money to buddies using whatever random crap I typed into the name field, and honestly, nothing ever happens.
To be fair, I was keeping it under $333, so maybe things change once you start moving real money.
But I highly doubt some bank clerk is sitting there proactively tracking my tiny transactions just to call me out.

Unless you’re one of those people who avoids PayPal entirely—which, honestly, is pretty easy if you aren't used to shopping on international sites.
So, I guess that actually makes them a pretty solid target audience.

For online shopping, mostly because the UI is way smoother and you get those sweet cashback perks...
Some people live for wire transfers; it’s honestly a killer way to dodge those annoying SEPA or similar fees.
A lot of these services let you hit up ATMs abroad without getting eaten alive by fees—which isn't really a luxury when you're bouncing between different countries.
Plus, some folks pick their bank strictly based on whoever offers the best credit rates.

Look, it’s not a must-have, but if it works for you, it’s a solid setup to have in your back pocket.

If I had to guess, the only "concrete" perk we’ll actually see is some free account—and even then, only if you’re already an AT&T customer.
Maybe they'll toss in some discounts on their own services to make paying bills slightly less painful.
Then there's the usual stuff: standard online banking and those fun little trips to the AT&T service centers (which are definitely going to be a blast now 😁).

Honestly, I don't see this being anything remotely better than what Citigroup offers.
Citigroup is running the show behind the scenes, and I highly doubt they'd ever agree to a partnership that lets AT&T start eating into their market share.

Anyone know if there's actually a way to tweak my contactless limits or how much cash I can pull from an ATM using my card?
I have this nagging feeling I used to be able to mess with those settings somewhere in the app, but now I'm totally lost.
Did they go ahead and scrap that feature, am I just losing my mind, or is it buried deep in some sub-menu that I'm too lazy to find?

And what happens when you hit "Continue"?

Do you have Safari installed? Try opening the App Store through that.
Or just grab any other browser besides that default Samsung one.

Look, this tablet is ancient, so it’s probably glitching out because it's basically a relic at this point. It should still function, though—you might just have to tinker with it a bit and try to squeeze some newer app versions onto it.

It could also be the age factor; the old version of Amazon isn't really a thing anymore since it got updated to the App Store...
If you're totally stuck and nothing works, you might just have to go for the nuclear option: factory reset the thing and start from scratch.

The address for the App Store is play.google.com (minus the www.), but I wonder what happens on 24sata if you actually include the suffix?
Those first two screenshots might just be glitching out because there’s no internet connection.

Here’s the checklist:

• An Android smartphone running version 4.4 or higher, plus an NFC chip so you can actually tap at POS terminals or ATMs

• A fully set up and active mobile banking app along with your activated go!card Mastercard.

We'll be adding support for other Mastercard and Visa cards soon!

(and "soon" still hasn't happened 🙂 )
