Prison ghetto hierarchies... you rarely see them portrayed in such an entertaining way! Sure, there’s a predictable formula involving the relationship with the kid (who, by the way, absolutely nails their role given the circumstances of the story), but everything is put together so well that you just can't walk away disappointed...

Nothing like that yet. I’ve already got a cheaper plan (and honestly, I won't be getting hooked on being online all day every single 🙂 anyway...)

Mark Cruz15 said:Let's keep this rolling if enough people are down! I've got this one Ipčet Ahmetovski album that absolutely shreds... totally mind-blowing. Even if Amanda Robinson4 isn't feeling it, she doesn't have to be super involved. We can drop a poll whenever, anytime!
It’s not that I don't want to, I'm just switching things up and moving. I'll be stuck with pretty limited internet access for a while...

Honestly, one hundred is such a great milestone. I was actually thinking along those same lines as Lisa Davis46—maybe we should just put this thread on hold for a bit. I started this whole thing right when things were starting to pick up around here, and man, it’s really gathered such a killer crew over time! Beyond just breathing some life into the forum, this whole section feels totally solid now, regardless of which albums we're talking about...
But look, I can't really promise how active I'll be moving forward either. It looks like I've got some big life changes coming my way, you know? New scenery, new challenges, all that good stuff...
And if we’re going to keep the thread running properly—you know, with the polls on schedule and using all those moderator tools—I’m honestly not sure if it’ll stay at the same high level it’s been so far.
So, we're waiting on that hundredth album! But like I mentioned before, feel free to start a new thread for any record you're loving... just please don't call it "Album of the Week." 🙂

That’s just how it goes with every single Tool album. Well, okay, almost every one...

Since the poll is being totally rigged, we’re pulling Larry Wallis's album from the running entirely...

Dennis Hall41 said:Back when I first started posting on these forums, I had this absolutely genius avatar... it was this gross, incredibly stout old lady lounging in a bathtub with her legs kicked up in the air while she's basically spraying diarrhea straight up into the sky. My whole logic was that it would act like a filter for potential trolls and total bores... you know? I wanted to make sure only the people actually interested in the substance of my posts would stick around...
Did they seriously ban you from having any kind of avatar on Odonda? ... That's wild! 😁
Don't hate me, but we really need to shake things up around here! This subforum is starting to feel way too polite for my taste... it needs a serious dose of punk energy!
Anyway, I’ve been sitting here on the fence about whether or not I should actually suggest something for this week... This is it...Anyway, I'll save all that for another time... 🙂

Charles Ramos4 said:The only thing I don't get is what Amanda Robinson4 is on about regarding Seja's boring stories potentially ruining the concert? Maybe she's had a few too many drinks, but honestly, I haven't noticed her rambling on or acting out like that for years... it just doesn't hit me the same way anymore 😁
I'm not even the one saying it, Jason Mendoza is the one talking 😁

It's a side project from Keenan... honestly, maybe just perfect for this chilly, breezy spring afternoon:

Quote : Gregory Heaney of AllMusic described IT as "a fine piece of cold weather headphone music".

Believe it or not, they’d rather look the other way...
Just another graceful, messy descent
Into The Unbearable Lightness of Being...

Nathan Murphy said:Hey, I totally blanked on casting my vote! If it’s not too much trouble, could you—or maybe another moderator—fix that for me? I really want my pick to count toward the Album of the Week since I already listed it in my picks. Basically, MY VOTE went to The National, so that should be our Album of the Week. Thanks so much!
Try to keep an eye on that next time, because everyone else's votes are already locked in. Besides, it isn't really fair to jump in and mess with the tally after the fact.
No biggie regarding the album I suggested, though. I can just start a new thread for it even without the official tag...
But that'll have to wait until tomorrow. I've got stuff to get done today! 🙂 (Plus, there's a BBQ later... 🙂 )

quietbison86 said:So Crow actually won the vote! I'm honestly pretty happy it went to The National... I don't follow them super closely—definitely way less than I follow Interpol—but Boxer just hits right for my mood lately.
From what I can tell, The National probably intended to put them in that category of bands without a frontman...😁
The Album of the Week is officially Terence Trent D'Arby.
Jason Mendoza said:Of course I know the misfits, but this was such a pleasant surprise! Really catchy punk stuff... it actually felt great to listen to.👍
Man, same here. It’s been ages since I stumbled onto a punk band I hadn't heard before that actually felt refreshing. They aren't exactly reinventing the wheel with their sound, they kind of mix everything together, but they're hilarious and you can tell they're having a blast.👍

Look, the woman literally sold everything just to buy a motorhome and live that lifestyle. Her whole motivation wasn't some economic meltdown forcing her hand... it was about escaping the heartbreak of losing her husband and her job. I mean, I don't know if she lost her house to a foreclosure or whatever, but that definitely wasn't it.
Now, there's a whole different conversation regarding how the movie was marketed and what kind of message they were trying to sell us, but honestly, they just didn't actually show it on screen.

The National - Boxer (2007)

Look, I know some people might roll their eyes at this one, but honestly? I think they were one of the most essential bands to break through in the 2000s... and in my humble opinion, they really hit their creative stride right around this fourth album. It’s just special...

5. Green Gloves
6. Slow show
7. Apartment Story

Dennis Hall41 said:What do you mean it's not original? Like, you wouldn't dig this at all?
Sonja definitely didn't just jump into this music video as a joke. We're talking about someone with incredible intelligence, pure soul, and amazing taste...
No way, especially not with those hardcore vibes😁
But honestly, Toma Zdravković looking like this is actually alright with me.
I don't know, maybe it's just that the whole rural aesthetic doesn't really click for me, even though I can't quite figure out how these two are even similar...

Look, unlike the big names over at Halliburton and those other modern pop stars—who, if you ask me, are just total posers with zero actual talent—Elvis Presley actually brings something to the table. I mentioned this in the other thread, but I really do respect what he does. You can find something worthwhile in pretty much any genre, and honestly, Elvis is only halfway there; he’s got that soulful, dive-bar vibe to him.
I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of that kind of music personally. I usually enjoy it more through parody or when someone breaks it down, which just goes to show I can still appreciate the style in a different way... kind of like how Bo Burnham does it. It's worth pointing out, though. We have to give credit where it's due! And that's really the heart of the whole debate here.
Maybe having something this polarizing is actually a good thing? It totally shakes things up and keeps us from getting bored with the same old topics. Some people might decide they're done talking about it entirely, but most of us seem to be ready to keep the conversation moving forward!
