there's something inside you It's hard to explain They're talking about you , Boy but you're still The same Drive It's hard to explain They're talking about you, boy But you're still the same
Drive is easily Refnov's best work, right up there with Bronson.
This is their fifth album, and honestly, it’s a total masterpiece! It’s easily their creative peak and where they really hit that massive mainstream sweet spot. If you ask me... this feels like one of those last great flashes of pure rock glory that everyone can get behind, whether you're a hardcore fan or just someone looking for a great tune...
A new poll is live! It’s back again, just for you guys... 🎉
Jason Mendoza said:I’ve never really been a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age. They never quite clicked for me, though I did end up at two of their shows (don't ask how...) and honestly? I can't say I was blown away. There's just something missing in their sound for me.
They were awesome when they played in Times Square! But then a few years later at that big festival in Austin, not so much. Plus, they were playing newer stuff back then that just wasn't hitting the mark for me... personally, I think like Clockwork is their absolute peak—their most complete, mature work. Everything after that felt like a step down. And let's not forget Homme becoming such a handful, especially after that whole mess where he smashed his wife's camera right off the stage.
The sixth studio outing from those stoner rock legends led by Josh Homme. Man, I remember blasting this everywhere when it first dropped... I even caught them live back then at the Trade Fair! The air was thick, honestly felt like there was more smoke in the atmosphere than actual tobacco 🙂. I saw them again later at an INmusic show, but that vibe just didn't hit the same way (not because of the smoke, obviously)
1. Keep Your Eyes Peeled 2. I Sat by the Ocean 3. The Vampyre of Time and Memory 4. If I Had a Tail 5. My God Is the Sun 6. Kalopsia 7. Fairweather Friends 8. Smooth Sailing 9. I Appear Missing 10. ...Like Clockwork
Look, even *Norman Fucking Rockwell* isn't a bad record. I mean, sure, she basically defined pop culture with "Summertime Sadness" and "Born to Die," and since then, she hasn't really hit those same massive heights again... probably because her newer stuff isn't quite as "radio-friendly" or mainstream, you know? But honestly, I think her later work is way more mature and just better overall.
Listen to this cover, man. I used to blast this thing constantly back when it first dropped. It’s not exactly the same vibe, but Lorde just released a new album recently. It’s nothing groundbreaking, obviously, but that whole style of hers—and that cheeky little jab at the fake, phony New Age holistic lifestyle craze—is pretty impressive, if nothing else. The only real link to Lana is that dreamy, nostalgic summer pop sound... it just totally reminded me of her.
Looks like we've all officially transitioned into the full-time grind, hasn't it? So... 😛 Come on, guys, actually get involved! No matter which album ends up winning the vote, please just give it a spin, leave a quick comment, or something. Let’s actually hang out and talk about the music once the thread opens, instead of just sticking to this suggestion thread where we chat about picking stuff...
So, Rammstein’s fourth album is this massive concept piece... it jumps through all these different themes, but the whole thing really centers around an idea inspired by one of the biggest aviation disasters ever recorded. Pretty heavy stuff, right?
Henry Campbell5 said:Trying to reorganize everything on my own was such a thankless task... plus, I didn't exactly have all day to deal with it, so I pretty much threw in the towel after I finished fighting off all those weeds in the backyard.
Don't feel bad if I say you should've started restructuring way sooner! Honestly, a lot of people who used to hang out on this forum just never came back, whether they left early or late...
Honestly, we started splitting off from the main feed and diving into the good tunes way too late. By then, most of the crowd that usually hangs out in the main hub had already moved on, so I guess my predecessor ran into the same empty desert we did. But look, instead of just throwing out shallow provocations to start arguments—which always ends up going south—we actually stuck to talking about the music itself. Even with the moderator situation being a bit of a mess lately, things feel a little more lively today than they did when I first inherited this whole thing...
Honestly, if you could just hop into a time machine whenever you wanted? Total game changer. Especially if you’re anything like me and constantly cringing at stuff you said in public... man, I need that power! 🙂 But hey, it’s also about constantly fixing your own mistakes, over and over again... forever!
