I've got an All-in-One PC with only five USB 3 ports. I need to hook up another monitor, so I'm wondering—can I actually pull that off using an HDMI to USB adapter?

I stumbled upon this one . Is this legit (like what the product description claims), or is there something else I should be looking out for?

Just wondering if future posts on this thread about how (un)qualified the admin team is will get deleted? If they are, should we just start a new topic for that stuff, or can someone with the right permissions just change the title?

Side note: how does this work? Is everyone who posts something against the mods going to get a strike? If so, then please just rename the thread to why think this administration isn't working, and let people actually say why they do or don't like things. That shouldn't be an issue, right?

Any admin, mod, or super-mod can back me up when I say this entire PŽK crew has been mishandling things from day one. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it—too much was allowed to slide, and honestly, the administration has been playing games with everyone's heads. Not a single admin had the guts to step in, hand out warnings, or issue bans when they needed to. They let precedents set in that eventually became impossible to argue against, all while ignoring warnings that this was headed for a disaster. They only finally reacted once things hit the breaking point, and even then, they just set more bad precedents that created fresh headaches. And I’m not talking about stuff back at the start, but the mess that happened long after the admins should have known better.
Lastan, Byron, and the rest warned us plenty about the gaps in moderation, but yeah, they pushed it sometimes too far—if you ask me, they would've been slapped with warnings after just a few posts like that. Instead, they got off easy because, deep down, they were right about most things. Under this current leadership, the forum actually feels more user-focused. Everything stayed fine for a while, especially while the PŽK was getting flooded with praise for the new management style. But once the compliments dried up and the criticism started getting louder, suddenly neither Lastan nor Byron were "right" anymore. They got hit with warnings and bans, and the very thread meant to be a pillar of PŽK democracy? Locked tight.
Between all that and dealing with the IMF, I've been on this forum for 13 years. I spent half that time as a mod, so I think I've earned the right to say this is the most incompetent group of admins we've ever had. No authority, no expertise, no backbone, and to top it all off, they're being paid to do a job they're absolutely failing at.

Let’s just set the record straight regarding my ties to Sasha and my own promotion while he was running things.

I stepped up as a mod back in 2004, and then got voted in as SM by my fellow mods in 2006—no backroom deals or private messages involved.

ambermason16 first joined the mod team in 2004, then came back for round two in 2009.

Sasha took over as admin in 2010 (not totally sure when his mod stint started, though).

Look, I didn't quit being a mod or SM because Sasha lost his job. I quit because of *how* they handled it. Honestly, the way they kicked an admin out was shady as hell and totally unprofessional. I told Anderlon exactly that when he asked me to come back and handle modding and super-modding again.
I explained my second resignation, too.

To get back to what we were actually talking about, I think closing that massive, bloated thread was a smart move. It honestly seems way more efficient to tackle each specific issue in its own separate thread instead of having everything lumped together.

If only they had done things this way from the start. But look, when an admin claims to be here "for the users" yet loses their cool at the first sign of actual criticism—even after a bunch of mods (myself included) warned them against it—it just shows this admin team isn't ready to lead a forum like this.

Yeah... sure they were... let the debate run for a couple pages and then just start handing out cards left and right. They definitely watched the thread, though. If that counts as being "careful"...
Look, yeah, warnings for trolling and a permanent ban aren't the same thing... but when everything is based on whatever mood the mods are in and there's zero transparency, what's the difference? It’s the same deal as the bans. One person gets a month and another gets three days for the exact same thing. Someone gets a permaban for using an alt while their main is locked, and someone else suddenly becomes a moderator... you get the idea.
I'm not saying Sash was some saint—not even close—but at least with him, you knew where you stood. Nowadays? You could be a mod in some random corner of the site today, and tomorrow you're stuck managing a thread you haven't even read. All it takes is showing just the right amount of... "understanding"... toward the higher-ups.

Yeah... true... bans aren't really the issue anymore. Now it’s all about shady accounts just trolling or posting off-topic crap. Though even that isn't a guarantee if you've got family connections on the site.

I've always been loud and clear about my views, both here and in the mod chat. And when Sasha was let go, I resigned properly—not because of who I know, but because of how they handled it. It's the same reason I stood up for a fellow mod a few months ago over stuff that had nothing to do with his actual job. Plus, unlike most people around here, I'll say it straight: Nica is a bad admin.

No, it isn't pathetic when someone starts talking about a disastrous former administration even if they joined after that crew left or just a month after signing up. I'm pretty sure no admin ever bans someone just for having a low post count.

Look, one basic rule for posting on any forum (even a trashy one, I guess) is actually knowing how to read. I explicitly asked for things to be deleted and the thread locked. Yeah, the motive is obvious—it's easier to dilute criticism by splitting it into a dozen tiny threads rather than letting people vent in one place. Hmm... why didn't you just do that when the thread was still on your side and everyone was praising your "genius" moderation? It’s easy to take the compliments, but you’ve got to learn how to handle the heat. You guys are doing exactly what every forum that claims to "care about its users" does—shutting down any thread that dares to criticize. What kind of "legitimate reasons" would actually stop a user from becoming a mod?

I'm picturing a scenario where Mara jumps in from the health sub and blocks Zika from being a mod on the soap forums, just because way back when, Zika posted some bad medical advice as "therapy" for the users... 😵

And it wouldn't even matter that Mara doesn't even post on the soap boards, or that Zika already convinced the mods he's constructive and will be a massive help with their workload... 😵

Generally, it goes pretty smoothly. New mods get suggested by the staff on a specific PDF. Sometimes they’re already existing mods (which makes things way faster), and sometimes they’re just regular users (which slows things down a bit).

Someone can be super constructive and great on one PDF, but then act like a total jerk on another. In that case, it’s totally normal for a mod from that second PDF (or an admin) to be skeptical of them. But again—that doesn't mean some guy from a random PDF is going to stop a mod from being installed. It's not supposed to happen, but hey, anything can happen.

Besides, at the end of the day, the final call belongs to the admins and Anderlon.

Also, please stop constantly insisting that the mods are failing at the Movie section, and Christian Taylor3, I'm looking specifically at you. It's hard to say we're doing a bad job when the Movie thread is one of the chillest spots on Reddit. I've been modding the Movie section for a couple of months now, and I've only dealt with a handful of reports. Since I also handle the TV section over in Springfield, anything under ten reports a day is... well, you know what I mean. 😁 Jumping on every single deleted post? Honestly, half the time that behavior deserves a harsher penalty than the actual deletion itself. Who actually benefits from waging a personal vendetta against the mods? Not anyone.

Yeah, Reddit is basically just a private club. It’s owned by Anderlon, who hand-picked the mods over at the movie section. Unless Anderlon or the admins decide otherwise, that lineup isn't changing. If they ever feel like the mods aren't cutting it, they'll swap them out. Until then, whether you like them or not, you're stuck with them.

Plus, we actually had an American rider in the final. People have been complaining for years about how the US lacks major motorsports events, yet every single time the AMA Pro Motocross Championship rolls around—not a single newspaper (let alone a TV station) even bothers to cover it.

*For those who aren't in the loop—a Speedway Grand Prix is basically the same thing as a Formula 1 Grand Prix. The 1. only difference is that we've hosted this Speedway Grand Prix three years in a row here in America, while we'll probably never see F1 show up.
